I took my daughter and fiance out for dinner and was pleasantly greeted. Our waitress was friendly and gave us a few suggestions for entrees. We ordered fish and chips, pulled pork and a side of Mac and cheese for our daughter. The food was beyond expectation and prepared perfectly! The fish was crispy on the outside and smooth on the inside. The pork was tender and very juicy. We where both extremely happy. Our waitress asked multiple times how our meal was. Unfortunetly the Mac and cheese did not come out untill we where finished because it was not put through to the chef. Also A large group of 12 + people came in and we where forgotten about. Our check did not come out for another 14 minutes after we where all done, and I was never offered a refill for my drink that I finished shortly after food was brought out. Overall the food deserve A 4.5! We will definitely go back, we just hope they don't forget about the table with less people. read more

Overall poor experience. Service was slow despite nearly empty dining room and bar and another server. Food was average at best while the medium rare burger was fully well done. The replacement was overcooked again and it was missing 2/3 of the toppings. Nothing made much of a positive impression. I have 10+ years of experience in the industry. read more

I had lunch at the Quarry a couple of times. Good atmosphere, courteous waitstaff. The first time I had the BLT. No complaints. Generous portion of ingredients. The second visit, I had the 5 oz burger with pepperjack cheese and fries. The burger was made to order and the homemade fries were great. The wait time for my order on both visits was a little too long. If you have a 30-min lunch break, you won't make it back on time. The plus side to that is the food tastes fresh and not like "fast" food. No pun intended. read more

Came here on the high recommendation of friends but we were very disappointed. The decor is nice, especially if you like TV at every table! The food was poorly prepared. My husband's hot turkey sandwich was cold. I had the special mussels over linguini. We both found our food too salty. My mom had fish and chips; there was far more batter than fish. My niece sent back her order of fried pickles because it was mostly fried breading and very thin on pickles. She's had fried pickles elsewhere and said they are best when there is more pickle than fried breading. We would go watch a ball game there but won't return for the food, that's for certain. Had dinner while in town overnight and was very satisfied. Seafood mac n cheese was very good although a little light on the seafood part (although for the price and portion size I can't complain). Side order of onion rings were obviously house made and quite good. Nice selection of regional beers on tap. We went here one day to try it out because we were still fairly new to the town and I love food so I want to try everywhere to see what's good and not. We got here and found a seat and ordered some jalapeño poppers for an appetizer I don't remember the exact quantity and price but it was like 4 poppers for almost 10 dollars which we thought was pretty ridiculous. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs for my entree and it was okay 7/10 and my boyfriend ordered the buffalo chicken wrap he loves buffalo chicken and he couldn't even finish it I even tried it too and it wasn't even buffalo-y. 3/10. read more

The food is decent, but a little overpriced for what it is. Service is terrible; on my second visit, there were almost no other customers when I arrived, yet it took over a half hour to get a burger and fries. It might be an OK place if you're in no hurry, but it's not a good choice when on a lunch break from work. read more

I am giving it 5 stars because my 2 different experiences (lunch & dinner) were great. My boyfriend loved the game tv's to watch the games and the Vermont Brew Beers on tap - nice touch! I liked the menu and atmosphere. I had an amazing homemade soup and sandwich the first time for lunch. Our dinner there this month was awesome, Bacon Wrapped Scallops and Baked Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Peppers for appetizers then the prime rib and my ravioli's did not disappoint! - We will be back again! read more

Yep, done here. Have been trying it throughout the winter for lunches and although the staff remains pleasant the food has gone waaaaaayy down hill. Today I had a Medium Rare Burger that was nearly cooked to a hockey puck on a bun that was so dry and stale that I couldn't touch the burger without the whole thing crumbling...and the fries, the fries, anytime I have had them lately they are so greasy it begs the question as to when was the last time they changed the oil. Not so bad when ordering the loaded fries, but stand alone sopping wet with grease, not very palatable. Top it all off with being sick shortly after lunch. Yep, done. How unfortunate for a place with a pretty nice interior and so much potential....oh well, I guess they'll be out of business soon too. read more

The Quarry is still working on some quirks it seems but it has potential. The ambience is nice - not too much noise from the bar or the large screen televisions, and the seating and tables are nice. Our server was friendly and brought our drinks in good time. The food took a little longer than I would have expected for 2 burgers, a salad and a sandwich. Upon arrival, my friend's fried calamari on a caesar salad was cold, and my grilled vegetable sandwich was pretty unremarkable. A small amount of feta under two slices of eggplant, some red peppers, and skimpy portabello mushrooms. The side order of onion rings was somewhat small, too. My friend's burger was cooked to medium well when he had requested medium rare. I would have ordered a ravioli dish since they feature locally-made Campo di Vino pasta - yum - but was worried it would be too heavy. Next time, I will order it. I hope the Quarry works out its kinks soon because downtown Barre really needs another restaurant to keep folks in town and not always go to the Wayside. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but after our last visit to the Quarry Grill, I felt compelled. We had eaten there 2 or 3 times before and were generally pleased. It has a quiet, pleasant atmosphere and the food was pretty good. I agree with the reviewer who says that they are improving. On this occasion, there were 4 of us, and we all spent much of our meal time raving how good our food was. The menu selection has improved since we were there last, the portions are larger (2 of us needed doggie bags), and the prices were very reasonable. I love capers, so I ordered the lemon chicken with capers special expecting a spattering of capers. To my surprise it came covered with them. Absolutely yummy! Finally; our waitress, Faith, was genuinely friendly, very pleasant, and efficient. Can't wait to go back. read more

Two stars for the interior. The time it takes to get food is really off. They need to pay closer attention to that. If it was all homemade, I could understand, but much of it is simple stuff to make. If they can get their speed up, I would revise this to 4 stars. Staff, especially bartenders, including owner, need to pay close attention to the time patrons stand there. read more

Our food took to long to be served and when it was served we had to send some back to be cooked properly, we were constantly bombarded by waitstaff every 3-5 mins, though they were friendly and polite it was still quite annoying. We had flies flying around us and landing on our food. Between the food being overcooked, not being properly prepared and swatting at flies while trying to eat what we could I give this place a rating of 2 stars and most likely will seek another establishment to fulfill my appetite next time I am in the city of barre. read more

Went there with the family last night for some dinner since we haven't been there in a while remembered the food being pretty good. Unfortunately, it seems they have either changed cooks or something because the food has certainly gotten alot worse. The fried foods were dark brown, in my opinion, because the oil hasn't been changed in a while (The place was packed so I guess I can understand why..but still) and the reubans we ordered had way too much meat and dressing which left the bread soggy and unpleasant. Considering the price of the food I was hoping for something a little better. On the other hand, while the place was packed I thought it had a pretty nice atmosphere and the staff was excellent and very polite but I go there to eat and I didn't really feel like I got my moneys worth. read more

stopped in with my family for lunch today, food was pretty good, service was god awful. i believe our servers name was kennon or something similar, he took 15 minutes to bring us drinks (about the same amount of time to get refills as well). and let me be clear- i am a waitress myself, i understand getting busy, but there were only a few other tables in the place- ridiculous. we put in an appetizer with our drinks and he never even checked on us or came back to take our entree orders, we had to stop him to get him to come back and take the order. he continually walked past our table avoiding eye contact but still glancing at us out of the corner of his eye yet not checking on us at all. disgusted with his customer service. he also gave us back the wrong change when the amount we needed back was PRINTED ON THE RECEIPT. how can you mess that up kennon???? read more

this place is fine for hosting a party upstairs (you bring your own food and decorations and they open the cash bar), but dining downstairs is not good. the last time (and I mean last time) we went in it took 10 minutes to get menu's, 10 minutes later we were served our drinks, and about 35 minutes after that we received our luke-warm food. after all was said and done, we spent over $70 for three of us for lunch. won't be going back there! read more
