I probably shouldn't write a review based on just one experience, but overall we found it little disappointing. We had heard nice things about LST and thought we would give it a try. I had the fish and chips . The fish was rather bland with very little taste. The fries, however, we're excellent. I was not crazy about the tartar sauce or the coleslaw. In retrospect, I probably should've had one of their burgers. My wife had the coconut shrimp, which was very good. We thought the prices were pretty high, but I guess that's pretty universal now. The atmosphere was kind of laid-back, but it was clean and quiet. I hate it when you have to shout at each other to be heard. Classic old pub, comfy and casual. Scarred dark-wood bar on the right and booths along the left, and - thank God - air conditioning! Great service even though it was mostly full for Sunday brunch. And, amazingly, the food was just excellent. Especially the lobster rolls - in Vermont? - yes, in Vermont. We spent a week in Newport eating lobster rolls every day and these were as good as anything we had at that seafront mecca. Completely packed with fresh lobster, a perfectly selected and toasted bun, just the right mayo with herbs and spices. Outstanding! Not to be outdone, the fried potato cakes were delicious as well, and our companion loved his bacon and pancakes. So why only four stars? The owners felt the best way to keep the front door from latching while they served the outdoor diners was to keep the deadbolt extended, so every time the waiter went in or out it the door would swing shut and the bolt would crash against the door frame. We were seated next to it and the the crash would occur every 15-30 seconds, nonstop. And so easy to avoid - just unlock the deadbolt and put a piece of tape over the latch. By the end everyone at our table agreed that if it weren't for the god%#$ door this would've been a perfect lunch. Still pretty great though. read more

I don't do my drinking at Langdon but I'm always blown away by the food. Sunday brunch has generous, creative and delicious menu items, completely disproportionately amazing when you consider the teeny tiny kitchen. Ed, one of the cooks there, is a wondrous cook and a gem of a human, even though he will never, ever remember my name. He makes a mean oyster stuffing, should you be lucky enough to be in his vicinity come Thanksgiving. Can I start Yelp Reviewing existing Yelp Reviews? What is going on Mitchell C? The dude (I assume) has only ever written the one review--which means he went through the hassle of creating a Yelp account JUST for yelp vengeance against this innocent business for what frankly seem like pretty minor offenses. First he complains about the phone going unanswered, noting that there were only 10 people in the place. Did you call the restaurant while sitting in it, Mitch? That's weird. Next, he notes that there were menu items listed on the POS that the server told him were unavailable. What kind of paranoid weirdo would take issue with this? Sometimes, a kitchen will run out of items or will stop serving items that are still listed in their computer system. Probably you should take the word of the staff on what items are available. He also complains that the staff had a bad attitude. So. To summarize. This customer called the restaurant while physically sitting in it and then debated with the staff about what the restaurant was serving, after he slyly looked at the restaurant computer system (why you looking at that, Mitchell? That's not for you! The MENU is for you!). And then he's surprised that they don't have a great attitude towards him? My sympathies are with the staff here, Mitchie-boy. read more

I used to come here often to Mcgillicuddy's, once changed to Langdon Street I was worried about the changes that may happen. I was proven to be wrong because this place is still amazing. Last I went in I got a basic garden salad along with some Korean style brussels sprouts and I believe my mans got a BBQ Chicken burger which he's not a huge burger fan but ate it entirely and enjoyed it. Waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. I do remember there used to be you could get a small bowl of popcorn before ordering. I used to love that when I was younger. Service is awesome. Food is incredible. Best burger in town ( better than Buddies). Wings are cooked perfectly and the Thai Chili is the bomb. Will not disappoint. Ok by now I'm a regular. The food is consistently great (Jeff is CIA trained) and I like the ambiance. I typically come for lunch - it's fairly quiet around noon when they open (picks up later). Lots of tvs for sports (nfl most popular- maybe bball too but I don't watch that). Lots of locals. They have updated the menu recently and they always have interesting specials. Our overall experience was so great, especially after a day of skiing at Stowe- we were so hungry! The food is awful at Langdon Street Tavern. The burgers are still terrible- the worst burger I've ever ordered. Given their distinct hockey puck shape, they are obviously frozen patties. Since they are cooking frozen patties it is nearly impossible for them to cook a rare or medium-rare burger. Every burger is at least medium-well because by the time the frozen patty has thawed on the grill, the meat is already cooked to medium-well. Langdon Street Tavern burgers have this consistent funky aftertaste to them that is pretty gross. I'm not sure where this nasty aftertaste comes from but it is always there. Every time. Don't bother getting the "local grass-fed" burger they have on the menu. It is also (ta da) a frozen hockey puck patty! I honestly couldn't tell much difference between the upgraded burger patty and the regular burger patty- besides the increased price. What I don't understand about Langdon Street Tavern is how can Buddy's Famous make a burger and fries that is 10 times better and charge $3 less? I don't get it. The sandwiches are blah as well. Langdon Street Tavern uses basic ingredients and charges a "local Vermont" price. There are only a few things that are actually worth ordering at Langdon Street Tavern: Chicken wings, fries, and basically anything that is deep fried. Because, how hard is it to mess up deep fried food? It's not. But they still over or under cook fried food from time to time. Oh Langdon Street Tavern, why is your food so bad? Thinking back, it's almost humorous how bad the food is. Lastly, parts of this bar are getting dilapidated. Torn up bar stools, worn booths, and tables are prevalent at Langdon Street Tavern. This place needs some maintenance. I like hanging out at Langdon Street Tavern. It's a fun spot to watch a game, play some pool and have a beer. We went on a busy Sunday evening and the bartender and wait staff were slammed. They were a little surly early on, but loosened up over time. The shining light of this place is the food. You ever go to a bar and as luck would have it, you choose the crappy seats at the bar near the obnoxious crowd? Well that happened to us today, but the obnoxious crowd was made up of all the bar and wait staff. They all huddle at the end of the bar and socialize. And they aren't even trying to be quiet about it. Um, excuse me. Are all of you on break all the time? When they could find the time to check in on customers, they were rude about it - as if we were interrupting their social hour. We stayed for one beer and bolted. From Cali and not sure where to eat but thought a Tavern would be fun to take the kids and my hubby! We were welcomed with smiles and the most welcoming 7 year old Oliver, goes by Olie! We thought he was the bus boy at first but just a local boy who came over to talk about the happenings in town. We ordered two beers from the tap which came fast and cold! I had some berry beer that was ideal! We ordered the delicious chicken and waffles with the best sage gravy. My boys ordered the fish and chips which was HUGE! Manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. Tried to help the waitress by bringing my empty glass inside when I was paying my check. The manager descended on me and rudely yelled at me in front of the entire bar that I wasn't allowed to bring outdoor glasses inside like I was intentionally breaking this unknown rule. Not really much different from the previous bar in this space - same decor, same everything except the name. I ordered jalapeño poppers and mild wings. The poppers were supposedly with bacon, but I was hard pressed to find it. Wings were dry, and the sauce, although flavorful, was mostly found in the basket.
