Normally I don't leave reviews, but I thought I would leave a well deserved great review for this test only site. I was dreading getting this smog check, because I didn't want anyone to sit in my car since were in the midst of this crazy pandemic. I'm sure this was the fastest smog test I have ever gotten, I was there 15 min total. Joe was great! He really made it a point not to go in my car, the only time he went into my car was when he crouched on the driver side floor to plug the machine in and take it out!!!! He wore a mask at all times. What I liked best about this shop is their straight forward approach to business. I am a shopper. I want my money to go as for as it can. I dislike, with a passion, having to compare prices with a lot of gimmicks and math (this is our price. Oh, you want a certificate? Oh, do you have a coupon? Oh, you have a truck or suv? Oh, that coupon is no longer valid ). I called Quartz Hill Test Only Center and asked them how much would it coast to smog my vehicle, They said $--, for certificate, tax out the door. I am a shopper, so in the past, I've jumped through the hoops, done the math, and those places are usually the same, sometimes more expensive, and save you $5.00 at best! I took my really old truck (26 yrs old) for its routine check and only have to wait for about 10 minutes for the service tech to finish with the client in front of me. The one thing that bothered me some was the fact that the person doing the smog got quite moody when he had to try a number of times to keep the truck idling at certain rpm and he couldn't. At one point he tossed one of the tools on against the floor in apparent frustration. He wasn't rude to me but I think he could have refrain from looking so bother by the fact he had to deal with a car that wasn't easy for him. read more

I just went in today during lunch. In and out in 10 minutes. $50 flat rate. The guys there were very polite, and answered the questions I was peppering them with. Been here before and everything was good. Just went and they told me I needed to figure out the code for my K&N cool air intake and filter. Never had to do that before. What a waste of time. Went back with the code and they said they wouldn't preform the smog until I changed my yelp review. I would be more than happy to retract my previous review and write something good after I have received the service that justifies a good review. Not going to be bullied in to changing my review. I changed my review on this shop based on customer service and the way I was treated. Smog failed and I was told by a rude employee to Drive my car for hours to get it to pass, what a joke. It did pass when I drove it for hours and came back, what a waste of time. I will be finding another place that has a machine that works. Like Bob said, this is the only place I'd ever use in the AV. They are a bit out of the way if you don't live in Quartz Hill, but the dude that runs it is a really nice guy. Remembers nearly everyone that walks into his shop, and is more than willing to talk cars with you if you want. If you fail your first smog they even let you bring it back and get it re-tested for free. Awesome, honest, local shop - highly recommended! read more

The place is a bit hard to find. They tested the car in a timely manner. Because it is 1989 the cost is higher $68. The car did not pass. After it is repaired they would re test for $21. + cert. They could not give me any idea of what needed to be repaired. I asked if they could recommend a place that could and was directed to the smog place across the street who said they would have to re test and diagnose at a cost of $186. maybe more. It isn't the fact that the car would not pass that is the cause for a less than satisfactory rating it is the way it was handled . So, my suggestion is go somewhere that can repair the car as well as test it read more

This is the only smog test place I've used or ever will use. Been coming here for about 8 years now and the dudes that work here always remember my truck (and sometimes me). Courteous and professional and super quick too. Even if there are a couple cars ahead of you you'll still get out in about thirty minutes.
