I chose the shrimp in garlic sauce (oil) that I sopped up with the accompanied bread, the dates wrapped in bacon (they do their own twist by filling it with honey ricotta stuffing and finishing it with a red wine reduction), I also went with cod fish croquettes (the perfect crispness on the outside and a delectable creamy texture of fish inside), I can never pass up the patatas bravas, so, I got those too. I've never been to Monsieur Bistro but saw the bar was cute- I then said, "let's go here." I walked in and everyone complimented my new jacket from Italy. I loved showing it off and shared it was my 33rd wedding anniversary. As I sat down the waitress and bar tender could not have been nicer. The bar tender made the best Bloody Mary and even gave us his secret. After finishing our drinks the two clients who complimented my jacket treated all three of us to champagne to celebrate our anniversary. This is such an adorable place, I can't wait to go back again. Might be awhile since I live in California. But next time I'll definitely go back to try their food.

Chef was good enough to switch mine out for chicken -- both topped with prosciutto, eggplant and mozerella. Somehow, it missed the mark. The sauce was nondescript and the dishes under-seasoned. Accompanying stringbeans were a tad overcooked -- my husband disagreed -- but both of us would have preferred more garlic. Desserts on the prix fixe are great. I particularly enjoyed their Italian cheesecake made with ricotta, and T was pleased with tiramisu. A nice touch is the accompanying coffee, strong and served in individual pots. Will I return? Yes! Next time, if we order from the same menu, I may see how they do with salmon. BTW, you're likely safe without reservations during the week, but not necessarily on Friday or Saturday. I pointed to a round table with an umbrella, but our waitress said that's the table next to the owner and he doesn't like anyone sitting there. I then suggested they just move an umbrella to one of the smaller tables away from the owner, but they claimed they couldn't move umbrellas, even though I saw them doing exactly that before we sat down. Really not expected this type of service from a semi formal restaurant on the UES. We ended up going inside. The food was Ok. good but not excellent. The menu is pretty limited, but it was ok just for brunch.
