Don't expect service here! Service: 0.5 Food: 3.5 Usually bad service doesn't ruin a meal for me if the food is good, but this place was different. I wanted to try this neighborhood spot because of the cute outdoor setup, it was perfect for summer brunch. - walked in, no reservation needed - They sat us at a table right on the sidewalk edge without umbrella. - then the sun shifted and started beating down on us. - Then our menu got dropped on the street, the NYC street!! Server just picked back up, and placed right next to our silverware. - The silverware looked worn out, like something you'd get at a cheap diner. We asked if we could switch to a table with some shade since half the outdoor tables were empty. I pointed to a round table with an umbrella, but our waitress said that's the table next to the owner and he doesn't like anyone sitting there. I then suggested they just move an umbrella to one of the smaller tables away from the owner, but they claimed they couldn't move umbrellas, even though I saw them doing exactly that before we sat down. Really not expected this type of service from a semi formal restaurant on the UES. We ended up going inside. The food was Ok. good but not excellent. The menu is pretty limited, but it was ok just for brunch. read more

We came as a party of four hoping to dine here, arriving early in the evening. The outdoor seating area was completely empty at the time, so we assumed getting a table would be no problem. Instead, we were greeted by the maître d' -- a host with a French accent -- who was unwelcoming from the start and seemed to expect a tip simply to be seated. When we didn't offer one, he claimed the restaurant was fully booked, despite the empty tables in plain view. We ended up at Amaranth nearby instead, and over the course of our meal there, watched this restaurant's outdoor seating never fill up -- confirming what we'd suspected. Based on this experience alone, we can't recommend it. read more

Had dinner at Fleming by Le Bilboquet and was really impressed. The food was great -- full of flavor and beautifully presented -- and the service was amazing from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had a great experience without being over the top. It is a bit on the expensive side, but you can tell you're paying for quality. Worth noting that 1/2 the reviews here are one star. Not sure what happened to those people - it's with figuring out bc this was the BEST steak I've ever eaten. Not sure what the marinade or spice program was on this steak - it's the best I've ever had and that's not hyperbole it's fact. For sure, this place is pricey. The customers are all well heeled over dressed middle aged white UES'ers. So I assumed the food would be kinda boring. To point, the beet salad was more cheese than beets, the spinach side was meh, but these are small things I am pointing out bc this meal was on point. The service was impeccable - our server was in his game and guided me to the right meal and was kind and attentive. Tiramisu - wow- almost as good as mine (lol but true). The dining room was nothing interesting - I'm not sure why the bar is so big but you can't hang out at it (no room or chairs) and the vibe of the place is kinda vibeless- this place could serve any type of food based on the decor. But all good. Food and service win the day. Just bring your wallet! read more

PASS. I live on the UES and am totally fine overpaying for good pasta. Went here as we were taking a friend out for her birthday and wanted a good familiar spot that we knew. Left the restaurant with the most disappointing experience I have had in a long time in NYC. there is a much longer version of the story but will summarize as I can handle slow, I can handle a bad dish. I can't handle RUDE. Got sat 25 min late as they were "waiting for a table to leave" (in a half empty restaurant) and also gave our original table away as they told us someone else was getting up sooner (didn't happen). Found this out after initially being totally ignored after checking in 5 min early for the reservation. Said this is a really disappointing experience as we have probably been here 20 times - they said actually it's 15 times (where we made the res not including times with friends etc). They told us they will make it up with great service/meal. My wife had to get up and chase down a waiter so we could order. Throughout it all the tall matre d just smirked and blew us off like he could care less about our bad experience. Lots of other places I will now recommend in the neighborhood before I will go back here - the food is good but not that special and lots of places with better service. read more

Easily one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The service is amazing and the place is cozy. Love the lemon trees outside of the venue that make you feel like you're in the south of France, delectable decor. The food is amazing! So good, my mouth gets watery just thinking about it. my girlies thought the food and their dishes were to die for. I ordered the fish of the day in red sauce, on point and full of veggies, perfect portions. The hot tea was epic, nice little teacup and teapot. Dessert was fresh, light and crisp. Food is terrible and not worth the price they charge. Our server was great! Ambiance is not great and the owner or owner's have a lot to improve on tables. There's a table that is always avail for the owner there and for no one else and it just says how selfish and weird the owner or owner's are. But tables there are prime real estate and always having a table only for the owner looses money, but not my problem and probably why they have overpriced food that isn't quality they probably try to make up the difference for that always reserved owner table. We DO NOT recommend Fleming by Le Bilboquet and hope the owner or owner's along with management takes this review seriously. Last thing is drinks are over priced and they shouldn't charge for bread. The owner's are super cheap and eventually we did see the owner or owner's sit down at the owners table and studying them makes sense how terrible their restaurant is. The only real good thing is our server was great. Again my food was terrible and overpriced. We never return again and I'll be continuing to right more reviews of this restaurant on other platforms so keep a look out! read more

Fleming by Le Bilboquet - French Near Me - New York, New York

We were refused service this afternoon and I believe it is highly likely due to racism. Here is what happened to us this afternoon: At around 5 pm, a friend and I walked past the restaurant and saw that there were a few tables on the pavement. The weather was nice and only two tables were occupied. We decided to have dinner there and went inside the restaurant to ask if there were any available tables for two. We were approached by the hostess. She informed us that the restaurant had a "very strict dress code" and what we had on would not do. (My friend had on a T-shirt and pant and I had on a T-shirt, a collarless shirt, and pant.) As we were leaving the restaurant, we noticed that two men that were sitting by one table on the pavement dressed very casually. One man had on a T-shirt and shorts. We went back to the hostess and pointed out our clothes seem more formal than the T-shirt-shorts combo. The hostess didn't disagree, but she started to insist that "we are fully booked until 8:30". At this point, we thought we should just leave, as there is no way we could wait three hours for a meal. And even if we did get a table, the vibe would be weird. When we settled into our seats at another nearby restaurant around ten minutes later, I decided to check on Resy and found out that there were many slots available for two people at 6 pm. Apparently, the hostess lied to us. Ironically, the restaurant we ended up in was a sister restaurant to this one, which is also owned by Le Bilboquet. When I mentioned the incident to its manager, I was told that this was just how this restaurant (Fleming) is, the hostess was told to act like this (no elaboration on by whom) and there is nothing we could do about it. I thus believe we were refused service by the hostess because we were Asian while the T-shirt-shorts combo man and his friend were white. And no matter what the real reason is behind this incident, I want to share my story with any many people as possible. read more

On a tired walk back to our hotel with the hopes of finding a little spot with a patio seat for two and a meal that we would not regret, we stumbled upon Fleming. After the rain had passed we found a nice cool breeze friendly and the staff at Fleming was super too. We had the bronzino with some of the most delicious potatoes ever put on a plate. We also had the roasted chicken which was a little dry, but not enough to cost this place anything on the scoreboard. The beef carpaccio and the tuna tartare were excellent starters. Enjoy this gem. Came here with a friend for lunch when indoor dining was still allowed. Plenty of COVID precautions, every customer got temperature checked before being seated, enough space/distance was reserved between tables. Very classy ambience and attentive service. The food was delicious, love the creamy squash soup and the mushroom risotto, fresh ingredients and perfectly seasoned, we ended with the fig meringue that balanced the taste buds with a mixture of sweetness and sourness, very satisfying. read more

'Rude service Fleming' that is what this place should be called. My husband and I dropped into Fleming by Le Bulboquet because it's a hop, skip and a jump away from our house. We were excited about trying a couple cocktails and potentially an appetizer, however, that quickly came to a halt when we were greeted by bad service. We stepped into the restaurant which only had one table full and no one else busting down the door to get in. A gentleman approached us and we asked if we could get a few drinks... he chuckled to himself and said, no. I love to check out new local restaurants by having drinks first (we would have had at least four drinks) and it looks like the place could use the business. First impressions are everything and we will not be coming back. This place will be out of business in no time if you keep turning away business. read more

Something's changed at this place--perhaps a new chef or recipes? I used to enjoy coming here, but now the food is inedible! Pasta with a sour sauce? Who does that? Another pasta is described as "very different," but a more familiar option would be appreciated. The artichoke dip tastes awful--did they buy it from a cheap supermarket jar? The eggplant parmigiana has uncooked eggplants, and all this for a significant amount of money! Yes it is a very pretty place , but not so incredible pretty to compensate for a sleepless night with belly ache due to the food you eat there. read more

We booked a reservation for dinner to introduce a friend from out of town to fine dining in ny... couldn't be more disappointed. we were seated at a tiny table right in front of a large birthday party. rather than seat the guests, they had them mill around standing and engage in a full "cocktail" event around our dinner. we couldn't hear each other speak over the noise and it completely ruined the experience. in the end, we received minimal apologies from the staff. food was good but it's priced for ambiance which is a total zero. plenty of other high end spots on the upper east side. read more

Dessert faired no better - rhubarb crumble - again, seriously I think it was one of those recipes you can mix and bake in a mug in the microwave. Ok, let's get a sauterne to clear our palate. Love Bilboquet and loved that this place was smaller & more intimate but the Cajun chicken is completely different than the one at Le Bil which was a huge disappointment. If you're going to serve the same dishes at least make it the same, while I was there another couple left when they heard the chef cooks differently than Le Bilboquet's. read more
