We loved Adrian, Robin, and Nicki behind the bar! Came for margs and chips and had a blast

Went to Pearl Street to go to the usual haunts. We passed Que Bueno with its open patio and surprisingly no wait to get in. The place looks fantastic, very cool decor. We decided to pop in for a drink. Super friendly staff sat us at a half in half out table perfect for a cooler day than we had been having. Ordered a couple of specialty drinks the mango habenero margarita and the Capahrini. Out came two of the most perfectly crafted cocktails in both taste and presentation I have had. The had a happy hour Tapas that had fresh Chicarrones and chips GET THIS! We ended up having 3-4 various small plates which were all excellent. Best happy hour experience in years, I have no doubt the dinner experience is excellent too. Staff was excellent, decor and ambiance excellent, food and drink excellent. Manager came over to make sure we were happy and I ask "Why are you not completely full of patrons?" Stopped by last night for a drink since our usual place on S. Pearl was jammed. It was horrible! We ordered 2 drinks, a mojito and a Manhattan. Simply awful! And the service was really crappy. Wife said her drink, the Manhattan was the worst she ever had. And they charged $15 for a horrible drink. The mojito was basically just sugar water. I couldn't taste any rum at all. $12. We also ordered chips and salsa. Chips were stale, like really bad bagged chips. And the salsa was without a doubt the worst we've ever had. Reminded me of ketchup with a little bit of pepper. Finally the server was a total bitch. Very rude, seemed pissed that we only ordered drinks. We have been there before and swore we would never go back. I guess we had a weak moment, but I don't even want to walk past there again. I wonder how this place is still open. I've heard a few neighbors say the same thing. read more

My husband and I have been to prix fixe vegan Valentine's Day dinners at another restaurant that did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome, comfortable, romantic, and satiated. This was not that kind of restaurant. At least not for us. My husband and I found last minute childcare, but Watercourse was booked for Valentine's Day. Que Bueno Suerte was offering a vegan prix fixe, and the restaurant looked beautiful inside from the online photos we saw. We were greeted cordially, but the host checked his list and whispered loudly to a waiter, "where did she put these people?" After some exchanged looks, one of them said, "come with me," and we walked past the beautiful empty booths and gorgeous lighting and into what felt like a garage behind where the band stood. "Meh," we thought, "at least we can still see the beautiful restaurant and hear the band." The waitress was very kind and friendly, and the four course meal was pretty good - not blow your socks off good, but pretty good. My husband and I dressed to the nines for this, and we were determined not to let anything ruin it for us. I was chilly, so I asked my husband if I could drape his coat over my legs. That helped, as did the strong margarita, and the full minute of overhead heat the restaurant blessed us with. I placed my cloth napkin on my lap over my husband's coat, and it slid off into what I then saw was a puddle of water under our feet. Luckily we were on the third course by then, so we didn't have to sit there much longer, but it was long enough for us to begin to wonder why, with all the empty seats in the beautiful part of the restaurant, we were seated in a cold corner on the patio with a puddle of water under our table. The sleeves and bottom hem of my husband's jacket were soaked, and I saw that this would be the last time I'd be wearing my satin high heels. I'm visibly Latina, so when I face unusual reactions, I have to wonder...but I didn't think that was it, what with the very diverse staff. Was it because we're older (mid-forties), and we'd ruin the glamour the restaurant wanted to convey? Was it the pain in the ass vegan dinner they had to serve? Or was it some sort of internal vendetta amongst the staff? Whatever it was, it was enough to make us never want to go there again. Wonderful food, drinks, and a friendly staff in a trendy spot on Pearl. Highly recommended

We have (re)discovered our new neighborhood go to! My wife and I had the privilege of dining at Bueno Suerte a couple of weeks ago, and we are still talking about the evening--one of the best nights out we've had in a while. It had been almost two years since the last time we ate there, and truthfully, it wasn't that memorable. Food was okay, service was okay, and the atmosphere was fine, pretty forgettable; but okay for an occosional cocktail while perusing the stores on South Pearl. Fast forward to now, and you have a completely different experience. Seems that they have the same owners, but new management, a new executive chef, and a motivated and proud wait and kitchen staff. It really feels like a different place. When we met Lenny, the GM, he made us feel right at home. He made us cocktails that were out of this world. Then gave us a comprehensive lesson on Tequila, Gin and Whisky--his passion really shown through. But I think his passion for developing and serving his staff, and ensuring they succeed is one of the main reasons for the postive vibe throughout the restaurant. When he left our table, his bartenders took over without missing a beat, and our waitress was attentive, friendly and checked on us frequently (but not too much). In a time of staffing shortages resulting in overworked and stressed out workers this restaurant was a breath of fresh air. Oh yeah...the food was phenomenal! My wife had an assortment of tacos, we shared the ceviche, and I had the fish. Everything was perfectly spaced, perfectly cooked and just the right portions. We were also able to meet Katie, the executive chef, and she was just as passionate about food as the bar staff was about the liquor. Her southern California roots comes through in the food her staff plates for you! Overall, a great (and unexpected) experience! We can't wait to go back and get to know the people and the menu a little better. read more

Very fun Mexican restaurant in Platt Park. Tried several appetizers. The ceviche with different fish and seafood was light and very tasty. It had a good amount of tang from the lime juice and just a touch of heat from the habanero in it. The morcilla (pork belly blood sausage) was fine but a little heavy. It's likely I didn't love it as blood sausage is not my favorite no matter how it's made. Also tried the mezcal braised pork belly with onion broth and roasted tomato salsa. Would eat a dinner sized portion of this. Yummy in the tummy. The suerte margarita is very tasty with not overwhelming amounts of tequila, curacao lime and my favorite part in the salt rim. Nearby parking garage not for Que Bueno Suerte but they do offer valet parking. read more

Came here for dinner since the kids were off with their grandparents as recommended by a friend of ours. Their recommendation was on point! The margs and mojitos were excellent and reasonably price, their was a live band playing (not so loud that you couldn't talk), service was fast and friendly and the food was very good. We split the ceviche, I had 3 tacos and the wife had the surf and turf burrito. The burrito is massive, she only ate half and we decided to weigh it at home, half the burrito with the box was just over 1lb. I've tried this spot 3 times now and each time has left something to be desired. The location is awesome, which is why I continue to make way in here. Each time, the service has never been something to write home about. The servers seem unhappy, which has rubbed off on my experience as a guest each time as they are not exactly thrilled to be helpful. The food is not slap ya mama good authentic Mexican food. It's also not damn white mama American-Mexican food. It's somewhere in the middle and has never been outstanding. And trust me, I'll do some pretty risky shit for a good plate of mexican food. So, overall, if you're in the area and want Mexican food... get back in the car and drive to Federal. Or go to one of the other incredible restaurants within a block walking distance. read more

We live in the neighborhood and order from here/ go here often. Tonight we ordered a pickup order through DoorDash. We were missing an entire entree and parts of 2 other items ordered. I called and the hostess said I should come back in and talk to the manager. I requested to talk to the manager on the phone so that I wouldn't have to wait around for the items to cook while my family ate at home. She put the manager on the phone. I asked if I could come back and get the unfulfilled order items. He said no. He told me he "can't do anything" and I should request a refund from DoorDash for the missing half of our meal. I wanted to still pay for the food I originally ordered and just pop over to pick up the rest of the order. He hung up on me. Now we have half a dinner, Suerte only got half the revenue from us (we requested refunds through DoorDash) and they lost a loyal customer from the neighborhood. I am bummed that another poor hostess and management experience mean we will not be supporting the Suerte kitchen, servers and bands any more. Get your management and hosting act together, Suerte ownership. Your team deserves better. read more

We went here on a Friday night probably around 6:30, we were seated immediately - which was very nice (as we had already tried another Mexican restaurant and told it would be an hour wait), but also made me a bit weary. We were seated outside at a high top pub style right along the sidewalk which was great for people watching. I also liked being outside because there was live music inside, but i think it would have been too loud for my personal preference had we been inside. I got a raspberry basil margarita and my boyfriend got a strawberry one, they were both great and really refreshing. We went in with the intention of ordering fajitas and enchiladas and starting with an appetizer. We ordered the chorizo queso and held off on ordering our entreés because we were in no rush. Thankfully we did because the queso was actually very filling, and delicious. Honestly the only queso I've had that beats it is Tahona in Boulder, but this is definitely a close second and WAY better then any of the other queso's I've had in Denver. After filling up on the queso we decided to get street tacos, I got the Barbacoa, which was good just a little dry, and my boyfriend got an asado and cat fish one that he both really liked. First, sit in Marina's section! One of the best servers I've had (eg, both in terms or recommendations, giving us a heads up on timelines, and great check ins). Went back and was just not impressed, in fact, it was downright unpleasant. Later the boyfriend and I joked about how awful our $100 dinner was and we laughed and we laughed and we laughed. Our drinks, called Oaxachan Misfits, were bitter and awful. Awful. I substituted the awful drink for a house "Suerte" Margarita, which was better, but would still be categorized as awful in my book. The duck confit Mole dinner that I enjoyed so much a few months ago... was guess what... Awful. Boyfriend had a Seabass with the skin on and I had one bite and tasted it's fishy fish fishness and declared it awful. The server could not have been nicer, and the space and decor and ambience were gorgeous. But for a $100 awful meal? I'm very sorry to say but I do not see this restaurant being in business much longer. I feel compelled to update my review because it was no longer four stars. read more

They get three stars because the food was really good- everything else was terrible. We showed up, waited a few minutes for a host, when she came to the front she said "oh you'll have to wait 20-30 minutes if you want a table". We looked around, the restaurant was practically empty. There were 3-4 tables max that were occupied and two people at the bar. We asked her "why?" She said "well we're going to get a group of twenty so you'll have to wait". Which was really strange because even with a 20 top they had other empty tables. It kind of felt like she was refusing us service. We asked her if we could sit at the bar and she said that was fine. We went to the bar that has two other people sitting and waited. And waited. And waited. Eventually the bartender came over and we asked him for water while we reviewed the menus he brought over. It took 17 minutes in an empty restaurant to get water. And when we did get it the bartender ran over cursing about waiters and them putting in large drink orders. After 27 minutes we got our first cocktail. We seriously debated leaving cash on the bar to cover the drinks and walking out. Eventually the bartender took our food order and eventually a manager came out to help the bartender (who was clearly drowning). My husband got tacos and I got the nachos. The food was honestly delicious. Authentic and savory, I would go back for those nachos. They have these beautiful lights that hang over the bar as decoration. Unfortunately those lights attract bugs and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was raining dead bugs onto our food and drinks as we tried to eat. We tried to ignore it, sure bugs can happen, but after dozens of bugs kept landing on our plates and the bar we eventually asked to be moved to a high top in the dining room. Never saw that supposed twenty top come through. Took an hour and a half and dozens of dead bugs to get two drinks and nachos. Overall, not worth it. read more

I've eaten here twice. First experience was a Saturday night. We had ceviche which was very good. We also had taco which were sub-par. They need to have double tortillas because they fall apart. Service was slow but not terrible. Second time we came was a Monday night and service was SOOO SLOW! Took 15 minutes just for them to come to the table at all. Our appetizer took over 30 minutes after we placed the order and the meal came just seconds after the app. The ambiance is great, nice decor and great outdoor seating. High quality, upscale Mexican at fair prices. This place is a gem. On the surface you might be thinking "just another Mexican restaurant" but dig deeper and you'll see why Suerte is a standout: - Great atmosphere (a really good Mariachi band was playing while we were dining, and cool huge unique light fixture over the bar) - High-quality food you can't find at an average Mexican joint. They make their own tortillas, and have things like Octopus, Oysters, etc... yum! - High-quality coin style margaritas at fair ($8) prices - A drink specials list on a Friday night! Came in for brunch on a Sunday and was in absolute awe of the beautiful interior and architecture. It was not busy at all, which I was a bit surprised about, so we were seated quickly as a group of 6. The brunch menu had SO many options, it was hardtop choose. I went with the burrito and was very very happy. We also started off with some chips which were quite delicious. Here is why I dock 1 star: The service was a bit off, we had to wait a bit long sometimes even though it was empty. But they may have been prepping for a busy day. They did notice this and gave us coupons to come back, so really this only takes away .25 stars. Read on for the other .75. The mimosas....I'm currently shaking my head. Denver is known for brunch (or at least it is in my head after going to so many cities who don't know how to do brunch). Que Bueno Suerto needs to pick up their game in that department. Why are their mimosas lacking? It's a lot of orange juice and I mean a lot. There's no option to lighten the mimosa, if you do want to, you have to order another bottle of sparkling wine. Orange juice is heavy, this is what makes people sick after bottomless (well....also because we just can't stop drinking all of it, but that's an AA issue). The orange juice was delicious but I could've been happier and would've loved some other options or mimosas mixed a bit lighter. Okay---so overall would I come back (had I not left beautiful Denver?) YES. What a beautiful place to spend a lovely summer afternoon, perfect for dates, girls' nights out, and everything in between. read more

This is a beautiful space, big restaurant and the food is amazing! The downfall is the service, which is likely due to understaffing and spreading everyone thin. On a Monday night, when happy hour was advertised as all night, not only was I rudely told that it wasn't happy hour, but I had to ask multiple people about it, only to find out that it was happy hour all night and we were even in the time frame of regular happy hour (4-7pm). Our server seemed disconnected, tired, run down and checked out. Drinks took forever to get ordered and when we ran out of water, we never got a refill. They only had two servers, food runner and bartender, which is not enough for such a huge space, so I'll attribute the bad service to lack of support and I did my best to look past that because the food made it worth coming back. Plantains were phenomenal, especially the sauce they came with. The pork ribs were tender and fall off the bone. The elote con hongos y requeson had great flavor combo though a bit greasy. My least favourite were the molotes but that's cause I don't like too much fried food and they were deep fried pockets of cheese, heavy and greasy. The guacamole was great, and for happy hour prices, the portions were abundant and very generous. The whole menu is GF except for the quesadillas! The setting and the food here has so much potential, so hopefully the front of house becomes more well rounded. We loved this new eatery on South Pearl! Knowing that Dana Rodriguez from Work and Class was involved, Hubs and I were super excited to try this place. We dropped in last night for happy hour which runs daily from 4-6. There are discounted drinks ranging from $6- $8 and discounted appetizers ranging from $7 - $11 or so. Everything sounded so good that we ended up just eating off the HH menu but we were able to try 6 different apps. (We had my MIL with us and we were stuffed afterward.) Here's the rundown of everything we tried- which we all agreed were home runs. Empanada Picadillo: Serving is 2 empanadas and the beef is so incredibly flavorful. It is served with 2 sauces that are both delicious but you don't really need them. The crust is flaky perfection. Tocino Fresco- This is the pork belly and served with beans. It's hard to go wrong with pork belly! It's a tad salty but delicious. Panucho- Basically two fancy tostadas. The tortillas are amazing! The chicken tinga was flavorful. Tuetato des Res- Bone marrow. Yummy! Hubs did not care for the accompanying sauce but I loved it. It was served with the amazing fresh tortillas and it was great. Not the best bone marrow I've ever had, but I would still order it again. Elote Con Hongos- Corn grits that are super crispy with an amazing mushroom compote. I believe there had to be some truffle oil in there as well. So good. This was my MIL's favorite dish and though I cannot even begin to choose, it was definitely a winner. Tamal Yucateco- The tamale was filled with the chicken tinga. The presentation is gorgeous and the tamale itself was so tender. For drinks, we tried the Horchata Margarita ($6) which is super interesting. It does contain mezcal so it quite smoky and overpowers a lot, but I liked it and so did Hubs. The Moras Smash ($8) which is a bourbon drink with mint and blackberry- also really good. And I was boring with just the HH red wine ($7) but it was a lovely tempranillo I enjoyed it. The portions are substantial, the service was great and everything was wonderful. We will be back for sure! read more
