Very likable cafe for breakfast or lunch. Went twice and tried different things - they feature both Mexican and American food, and seem to have a good handle on both. Plus, their coffee is very good. Starving the second visit so I went with the pancakes, eggs, steak and fruit. Didn't even do coffee this time, as I had come pre-caffeinated. I ordered the eggs poached, as I often do when also having pancakes. Happily, the poached eggs were perfect, allowing them to cascade down the side of some of the pancakes. The pancakes themselves had a good bounce to them, but were not rubbery. In fact, they had an enviable balance of soft yet still solid and just thick enough. The steak was good -- a bit more gristly than my earlier visit (in a different dish). The fruit was fresh and refreshing. The first visit I enjoyed the coffee, then a Mexican dish. Rancheros with Flank Steak strips. This was served with scrambled eggs, and is another hearty and utterly tasty entree. The steak strips were nicely seasoned and easily to cut through and chew. I also really liked this dish. We tried the banana bread on our second visit. It was OK, if a bit dry. Service was good, friendly and it's lovely to look up and see what's happening outside of this corner cafe.

I found this place while searching for breakfast/lunch locations on Yelp. I saw they had an horchata espresso (two of my favorite things) so I knew I had to try this place. The horchata espresso was very good. I thought it was more on the horchata side than the espresso side in terms of taste, but to someone who doesn't drink coffee (my father), the espresso was very noticeable. I ordered the avocado toast and it was really delicious. The multigrain bread wasn't hard like a sourdough bread would be so it was very easy to bite into. The sauce wasn't too spicy and added a tang to the avocado toast. The handful of fries was also a nice touch! We had to wait a bit for our food to arrive because it was busy, and the location is small, but I definitely recommend checking it out.

Discovered this small, quaint restaurant at the end of Quinta Avenida away from the center. When there's a line then they must be doing something good. Really chill bohemian vibe. The food is the star of the show. The menu offers a huge variety even the most picky eater in your group can find something here. I ordered: Chilaquiles - this is so authentic tasting, the black beans was flavorful, the salsa is fresh, eggs properly cooked. I like my tortillas to be slightly soft after soaking up all the good sauce. Cafe America- fresh and strong. Come here and you will not be disappointed. Just be warned this is very popular, so I advise to come before 0900 so you don't have to wait too long.

Stopped at this cute location after lots of reviews I read. Location: 5 Avenida Staff: friendly, helpful and fast Parking: none Seating: outdoor (gets crowded, we arrived @8:30am) Taste: had the avocado toast but replaced pooched eggs with sunny side up. Was not my fave but average. Kids had sunny side up eggs and they love it. Waffles they loved. Torta was also average. Drinks: horchata was delish. Horchata espresso was delish!!! Especially with the heat the refreshing coffee and sweet water was a hit.

Visited Que Huevos while on vacation in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Looked it up via Google and Yelp and the reviews and pictures looked good. I had the French Toast with eggs and bacon the first visit. Then the Mega Breakfast (Pancakes, eggs, black beans, flank steak, and fruit cup). Food was very tasty. I will start with the one thing that made me deduct a star. The eggs were not prepared the way I asked for them. I asked for eggs scrambled soft. The first time they were brown. When they were re-cooked they were better. The next day the same thing happened. I was disappointed especially because the name of the restaurant is Que HUEVOS. You can't mess up the huevos when it is your name. Now for the the good stuff. That French Toast was beyond amazing. The flavor, the texture, the crispy outer texture and the perfectly cooked inner texture. All I can say is WOW. The bacon was crispy and good. Wish there was more. The flank speak was tender and flavorful and cooked just right. I could cut it with my fork. The black beans would have been good on their own. They complimented the meal perfectly. The Pancakes were good, they had a hint of cinnamon and were fluffy. The fruit cup was fresh and juicy. All in all I enjoyed this spot. I woke definitely visit again when in this part of Mexico.

A cozy little breakfast/brunch spot in the busy town of Playa Del Carmen with super affordable prices, is right here at Que Huevos. I was a bit skeptical because it's located on the busiest streets in Playa Del Carmen. The food is very much Mexican style with a fancy flare...may be considered boutique-ish without the price and attitude. I ordered the Chilaquiles Divorciados. A mix of red and green chile and 2 eggs. They were outstanding and I highly recommend.

Last meal in PDC we stumbled upon this hidden, hipster gem. Quick note- we were out of pesos and read on yelp they accept credit cards. However, when we sat down at the bottom of the menu in SMALL print it said they didn't accept cards at the moment. We had to run down the street to withdrawal pesos but luckily the delicious rojo & verde chilaquiles more than made up for it. We each added steak to our bfasts and sipped iced coffees while sitting in the adorable outdoor cafe. They also offer non Mexican food items if you are looking for something a little less heavy. Worth noting that it is at the beginning of 5th ave so it is not quite in the craziness but if you walk 2-3 blocks you will be in the hustle and bustle of it all! read more

Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. We waited over one hour and tables continued to get sat and fed. We couldn't find our waiter and when we did he advised he never put in our ticket. Not one other waiter checked on us or seemed to care we were waiting so long. (Also, side note- all the parking in that area is metered and you have to pay and put a ticket in your windshield or you get a boot and ticket.) read more

Cute cafe on 5th Ave & 48th away from the busy PDC downtown area. It's a small place with about 8 tables. Several breakfast items to choose from that are reasonably priced. The juices are fresh squeezed. The coffee is tasty. You can get in and out for less than $10 for 2 people - 1 plate and 1 coffee each. read more

I'm a self proclaimed foodie and very picky one I may add. This place doesn't disappoint. From the exceptional service to the delicious food its a must if you are in Playa. I recommend their green chilaquiles I had them every morning that I was in Mexico, I definitely indulged more than I should have and went back home with at least 15lbs of no regret. read more

Great spot for quick breakfast or lunch. Great service and friendly and patient staff. Prices are more reasonable than other restaurants closer to to the core. Found this place walking down 5th. Cheap yummy breakfast served all day from 7am to 7pm. I've been here twice. Met the owner (I believe). Said he was (or is) an architect. Super friendly. I happen to walk in when a soccer (futbol) game was on so watched it on the big TV they had while I ate. This around the corner from where I am staying so definitely going back. They have the menu side by side in spanish and english so you can learn some spanish while you are eating. Right next to Balche Playa. read more

My sister and i absolutely loved this place! We went back for breakfast multiple times. The food is AMAZING, it comes out quick and the staff are very friendly. They speak english and spanish for the most part and the location is so cute. Outdoor seating with cute wooden tables. Would come back anytime im in Mexico! This place is amazing! It is a little bit of a walk off of Quinta Avenida, but it is worth the extra steps. It's a cute little open air bistro specializing in breakfast and smoothies. I want to take some time to talk about the smoothie.... wow! I have never had anything like it! I ordered the mango chia smoothie and it came in a giant glass. The smoothie was so fresh and light, it was like drinking mango flavored clouds. I wish I could get the recipe for this smoothie, because it was life changing. One notable feature is that it didn't have any ice or fruit chunks in it... it was just smooth, creamy, frothy, and light. If I ever make it back to Playa del Carmen (fingers crossed) this is the first spot I'll visit! read more

This place is awesome. We have a place right down the street and this is our go to place for breakfast or lunch. The staff is kind and warm. The food is excellent and the portions are generous. The food is health and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is cute and gives you a very local feel. One of my favorite things they have is the fresh and made to order fruit drinks. My kids were tired of Mexican breakfast and wanted something that reminded them of home. Que Huevos is sort of a Mexican hipster take on California breakfast food. The waffles were good, but the chicken they included with the order was fried to jerky consistency. The juices were good and the rest of the menu looked decent. Overall, the place served its purpose. read more

This place is the cutest little restaurant right on 5th ave. We went around 9am it wasn't too busy. We orders the egg & avocado on toast, fruit bowl with berries and bananas, Mexicana eggs with spinach and tomatoes, and green chilaquiles with chicken. The eggs and avocado on toast delicious, the egg were cooked perfectly. The fruit bowl was very refreshing and sweet. The mexicana eggs w spinach was very good, came with a side of salsa and beans. The chilaquiles were good although I thought it was made of tortillas but they used tortilla chips. Defiantly would go back. read more

Love this place! Staff was really nice and the food was delicious and for a great price. Once we tried the New York beagle breakfast we got hooked. One of the best breakfast spots in Playa! You may need to wait for a table, but it's definitely worth it. I had the avocado toast, and my boyfriend had a veggie omelet. The orange juice was also amazing and fresh. Very fast service. read more

This was my favorite breakfast spot in Playa. It is definitely worth the walk. Make sure you bring cash, as they do not accept credit cards. I had the Mexicana eggs with chorizo and coffee. Very tasty, just wish it had a little more spice. Maybe they left the Serrano peppers out on purpose... the coffee was really good, as well. This is a cute restaurant, very small get here early! read more

Incredibly tasty, wonderfully priced, small fun place off beaten path with very friendly service and attentive involved owner... so glad we ventured here for breakfast. 4 people ordered 4 different plates and all were delish... Great fresh orange and grapefruit juices. Chicken waffle sandwich on sweet waffles was especially good and best guacamole I have had in a long time... gotta check out this place when you are in Playa read more

Don't be in a rush and come to a place that feels like home.

Disappointing experience - customer service fell short I came to Que Huevos hoping for a solid brunch, but the experience left a bad taste before I even got to try the food. It was a sunny, extremely hot day, and since all seating is outdoors, it was already tough to sit comfortably. Still, I gave it a shot and sat down, placed a drink order, and tried to make the most of it. But what really turned me off was the service and inflexibility. I asked if the multigrain bread could be swapped out--something simple--and the waiter had no idea. Not only was the request met with confusion, but the staff told me there were no substitutions allowed at all. I don't like multigrain, and I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. When I'm paying for a meal, I expect at least some willingness to accommodate. It's not like this was a free meal or a major change. The whole situation just felt dismissive and unnecessarily rigid. At the end of the day, customer experience matters, and it felt like mine didn't. I ended up walking out, disappointed that I'd already placed a drink order and sat down before learning how inflexible things were. It's frustrating when something so small turns into a deal-breaker--especially when it could've been avoided with a little care and communication. Also, since the place is on Fifth, parking is all street-based. Be sure to pay the meter or risk getting ticketed--there's no room for error there either. Que Huevos lost a customer before the first bite. It's unfortunate, because I genuinely wanted to enjoy the food. Hopefully they reconsider how they approach customer service moving forward. read more
