Watermelon 'Rita so amazing I drank it so fast.

Robbie Bain our server was very attentive and accommodating. We sat outside which was so nice, the plants everywhere, the heat lamps and the atmosphere was so refreshing. There was a huge rain storm that moved through while we were there and made it even better. I'm an Oregonian I'm not afraid of getting wet or melting.

I do believe this place may have the best Mexican food in Portland and great size portions. Located in a food cart pod with indoor and patio seating... This festive little restaurant is not only fun but serves great drinks and food. I had the watermelon Rita which was basically a watermelon margarita with top shelf tequila, fresh watermelon juice and of course a few chunks of watermelon. It was delicious! I also ordered the California burrito with delicious grilled Carne Asada, french fries and I'll be other delicious burrito and ingredients in a grilled flour tortilla. The staff was super nice and fun! Also ordered the chips with guac and salsa. The regular salsa is a delicious smoky chipotle type salsa... It's so good. There is only street parking which is the only drawback. They do serve happy hour from 4 to 6 PM.

This place was very cute loved the ambiance, and the food. The waiter Ben, was very friendly and made it special for us on our 5 year anniversary. They even gave us a complimentary dessert. :)

Fantastic service and huge portions alert! We enjoyed a nice quiet evening out at Que Pasa. My husband and I started with the chips, salsa trio, and guacamole. The guacamole is delicious and we really enjoyed the house salsa. Beyond that, the restaurant was packed inside, on the patio, and had tons of to go orders. Despite that, there was fantastic service constantly checking back in. Nachos were excellent... compliments to guys in the back of the house. Now as far as the service goes of course a party of one just gets the bare minimum... and that's exactly what I got Yelpers. No hey sir how is the food?? Can we get you another beer??? Nada Well I have to say that even though I was disappointed with the so called service I am still a return customer because the Mexican food here is some of best in the PNW. So let it be written... So let there be SERVICE.

Que Pasa was a recommendation from a friend who went 3 times in one week. Now I know why he came so often. The gringo tacos were great. The crunch on the outside from the fried cheese was a delicious surprise. You receive 2 tacos per order. It was enough to share with someone. The potatoes ole were a great substitute for the rice and refried beans. They were very similar to mashed potatoes with carrots, peas and corn and very well seasoned. Fresh made chips and salsa were a great appetizer to start. The spicy salsa is extremely hot but has a good flavor. Que Pasa is definitely on the list for a return visit.

This was our Q for our ABC of Portland game. What a fantastic find! I cannot stop thinking about the street tacos and will be back for those. We were able to make it in for Happy Hour so we tried a couple different things from that menu and the regular one: queso, street tacos, fish burrito, al pastor tacos, and margaritas. All were so tasty and fresh. We will definitely be coming back.

Overall really disappointed. Just moved here from Texas and was looking for something "Tex-Mex" adjacent. After reading the reviews me and my husband decided to give it a try. Food was cold and not much in the flavor department. Service was good- waiter brought us their famous potatoes that he insisted we try. He also recommended food to us which was kind. Ambiance is the real win here. Nice outdoor seating. Would come back for margs and apps for a catch up meal with friends. Would hard pass on the food. Parking is street parking only. Moral of the story, don't go here if you're looking for flavor or something like ~ Tex-Mex. Order: - Chips & queso (2/5- bland & chunky) - Enchiladas Suizas (3/5- just average, nothing to come back for) - Enchiladas w/ carne Asada (2/5- husband said the sauce tasted like tamarind and on the sweet side. Not really the flavor profile you want for enchiladas. Said the carne asada was good however.) read more

The service was friendly, and the atmosphere on the patio was great. The menus say they have Carnitas, but it's actually Al Pastor.... If you're looking for good authentic carnitas, they don't have that. They call it carnitas on their menus but it's not. When I mentioned it to our server, he seemed to be confused and didn't know the difference, (Al pastor is marinated pork, often with chiles and pineapple, offering tangy, sweet, and spicy notes, while carnitas is pork shoulder slow-cooked (braised) in lard until tender, then crisped, resulting in rich, savory, and tender-crisp chunks). That's said, I recommend the Posole and I think the nachos would have been good if we had chosen a different meat (I don't like Al Pastor), so Asada might have been better for me. If I'm in the area, we might stop by again cause I like to give places a second chance and now that I know better, I can do better with my ordering. read more

I hadn't been back here in over 10+ years, went back recently. It was just as good as I remembered - my pros/cons are still valid. During the summer the outdoor/covered patio is really nice - and usually more crowded. Some people seated outside were annoyed they didn't see their server for awhile; I can't really comment about that. We sat inside, and of course, waited to be seated. Pros: Homemade tortilla chips (well spiced - likely cut up corn tortillas, not the thin restaurant kind these are thicker), freshly made guac, 3 different salsas (and one has a good amount of heat- yippee!!). The chips and salsa do NOT come with your meal, so you're going to pay for them - get over it, it's worth it. Red chile sauce is flavorful, cheese is generous on the enchiladas, everything is freshly made! Many vegan and vegetarian options!! Traditional plates come with rice and pinto beans, OR (and I HIGHLY recommend these) Potatoes Ole. Mashed potatoes with corn, jalapenos, sour cream and cheese - holy moly kill me now. Cons: The cantina has a covered (but not fully insulated) patio that's connected to the inside dining area, which is next door to a bar with an outside patio... and the smoke from the bar wafts into the patio and the inside dining area. Blech. We sat inside and still the smoke came wafting in. Drag if you're allergic to smoke, but luckily there's plenty of margaritas available for you to numb the pain. read more

We've dined here multiple times over the years. Seems to have hit a rough spot now with regard to flavor, service, and timeliness. The salsa is watery, burritos are mostly filler (potato/bean) vs meat. The chips are a nice texture, though. Time-wise, it took an hour for one dish and drinks for two, with the restaurant only having five tables seated at the time. Hopefully they can work out any adjustments again because the food used to be flavor-packed. Now, there are many other more favorable options for Mexican-inspired dishes. read more

Food tasted great. Not sure if the food took a while or our server forgot to put in our food. 40 minutes to get 2 entrees. Service was not great at all. Never asked us if we wanted another drink or checked in. Ordered food, dropped it off, brought the check. Will not be back based on service alone. read more

From start to finish this restaurant delivered. The staff were excellent and festive. We started the evening with a shot of excellent tequila based on recommendation -- the Queso is unique and tastes great. Chips are the best in the state. Tres leches cake was so good I ate it again later that night. 10/10. Do yourself a favor and head here. read more

Plenty gluten free options with corn tortillas being used. My husband got the carne asada enchiladas with potatoes ole instead of beans last night and said it was the best he's ever had. I got the chicken fajitas. We are here last time we came in 2016. Enchiladas is definitely the way to go. Fajitas were a little dry/lacking flavor. They have 3 salsas. Visiting from las vegas and I usually never write review but this place deserved one for sure 5 stars on the food 5 stars on the service and get the 3 leches cake don't forget! It'll be gone so fast. This place is took away so it can be hard to find. Street parking is available in nearby neighborhoods. The Perfect Margarita is a great drink. Service was decent. They only have an old TV. This is not a good place to watch sports. The outside seating is decent but the inside of the place was cold. They have a nice cozy lounge in the back. I ordered the shrimp and grilled veggies enchiladas. It was tasty. The mashed potatoes are good but not worth going out of your way to get. read more

Great atmosphere and wonderful food My tacos were delicious - meat well cooked (great flavor) and simple with the toppings and lime. My friend's enchiladas were also great (didn't get a picture). Also recommend the margaritas and if have a group get a pitcher - it saves money when you want more :) Staff was very friendly too. read more

Went here last night on a Friday - such a cute restaurant! I had seen the tres leches on Instagram and it just looked amazing. Had some margaritas, for the Corona margarita they give you the small Coronas on the side not in the margarita glass. Ordered the goat cheese quesadilla (they were even nice enough to put meat in half of the order), potato's ole side, a side of guac and the tres leches (of course!). Everything was great and the tres leches is seriously amazing. The decor is super cute and the service was great. If you're in the mood for some tasty Mexican definitely check this place out. read more

Found this cute little gem on an outing with a friend on a Friday. Had ordered the street corn that day was the best I had in all of Portland, everything about it was just done right. Almost brought me back to cali just in taste and presentation. Unfortunately I came again on a Tuesday ,to order it and I called it in to pick it up. This time was not as nostalgic seemed to come straight from the can and heavily blanched causing it to taste like watered down lemon water. If you want the better stuff and staff I would suggest going on a Friday which seems to be their better days. read more

I ordered the stuffed jalapenos and the 2 tacos (carne asada and chicken) with the potatoes ole! Quality of food was delicious!!! Both meats were a bit dry but the taste was still so good. The potatoes ole were other worldly.. I can't believe how good they were! Tasted similar to loaded mashed potatoes. I had a Paloma margarita while I waited...I seriously wanted to order 3 more lol it tasted AMAZING! best I've had. Highly recommend to visit this little hidden gem at least once! I rated it a 4 bc it's a bit pricey. Would be good to go for happy hour. read more

Finally tried this place back on Cinco de Mayo. The food was fresh and delicious! It's really hard to find good Mexican style food in PDX. We were able to be the first customers for lunch as this restaurant is far from us. Staff is attentive and the place is clean. PLUS! We liked the small patio area that has enough shade. We walked past this place meaning to go to another restaurant, and as we walked by the smell of Que Pasa was so good we turned around and walked straight in. We were not expecting the meal we had to be so amazing. The staff was so nice and helpful and it felt really relaxing to be in there. The posole special was spicy yet sweet. And the carnitas tacos were juicy and spicy. Additionally, the potatoes ole were creamy and cheesy and something like ive never had before. I hope i would be able to come back here some day. read more

Beautiful restaurant in the Hawthorne district, the food was great the staff friendly and helpful. My only reason for not giving them five stars is they are only open for dinner :( with the food trucks on the corner maybe that's there business strategy but I would love to stop in for lunch on the weekends at least. read more

Established in 2005.

Our restaurant was created from scratch. We remodeled our space to accommodate our vision of a cozy, casual, authentic space, scoured Portland (and Mexico) for inviting artifacts, collected and tested favorite Mexican recipes, researched (and again, tested) margarita recipes, chose local vendors to provide us with quality products, and hired a group of employees we now call friends, who embrace our philosophy, help our vision come to life and take care of it all like it is their own.

However, many customers may not read every line of fine print on the menu and may be surprised to see an additional charge added to the bill. In my opinion, employee health-related expenses should be covered by the business rather than passed directly to customers through an extra fee. I would have preferred the menu prices to reflect the actual cost upfront rather than having a separate surcharge added at checkout. Very, VERY small place with nonexistent parking. I went with a party of 6 - 3 couples. We got there at about 5-ish on Saturday. Outdoor seating was available, but we just weren't interested in eating while wearing our coats and getting blasted by the heaters. We chose indoor seating, but the place is sooooo small, our party of 6 took up nearly 25% of the available seating. I'm sure that in warmer weather, the outdoor seating would be more attractive, but not on that night. The "house" 'ritas were tasty enough. Someone else in our group had one of the special "pineapple habanero" 'ritas and only drank half of it - it was too hot/spicy for her. We ordered the "chips and guac" for a starter - the guac was very good, but almost 25% of the chips were WAY under cooked, which made chewing them a lot like chewing on a clam (impossible to chew). We were a little surprised that their chips and salsa was complimentary, but adding a fairly small bowl of guac brought the price up to $6.95. Two of us ordered the carne asada fajitas, and both of us really enjoyed the sizzling presentation, and excellent flavor. The portion of carne asada served, though, was a little sparse - lots of tortillas, but not enough meat to fill all of them. The "Poco Loco" chicken dish proved to be too spicy for the same person that thought the habanero 'rita was too hot. An enchilada dish was also deemed a little too spicy for the unprepared or unwary. The taquitos received a good review, too. The service was friendly but average. Our server didn't have the power behind her voice to be easily heard over the house noise. Reviewing their menu on-line, I noticed that they only allow a maximum of two credit cards per table. Since I discovered that prior to getting there, we came prepared with cash. Their web site also declares that an 18% gratuity would be required for any groups of six (6) or more. I am NOT a big fan of a forced gratuity - I believe that good food and service should dictate the tip at the discretion of the customer. Happily, the 18% was NOT automatically added to the bill. After pooling the cash from everyone, I think the tip was around 16%. This earned us some sideways glances from the server as she was ringing in the bill, but she said nothing to us directly. While we were there, we noticed that there was quite a lineup at the door. Knowing what I now know of the service / seating / food / atmosphere, I wouldn't wait in line more than 20 - 30 minutes. Due to the limited seating, I don't think this is a very kid-friendly type of place. In the end, we all felt that that the food and service was good enough, but nothing overly special, and the atmosphere seemed a little too closed in. Food was OK but had customer service issues. Presented a Groupon to the waiter Antonio when ordering. Groupon covered the food price exactly. Asked to order beers and margaritas off the happy hour drink menu since it as prior to 6 pm. Antonio said you can't order happy hour with a Groupon. Asked Antonio if we could use Groupon for food only and pay for happy hour drinks separately. Antonio indicated that would be OK and left the table. Food arrived cold. Beans and rice were room temp for everyone at the table. Main dish was lukewarm. Almost sent it back to heat up but was hungry and Antonio was swamped so we just went ahead and ate it. When the bill came it was all on one including full price for the drinks, not happy hour price. Pointed this out to Antonio and he said when he enters the Groupon it comes out that way, "It's in the rules." When asked why he didn't bill separately as agreed to he said to take it up with Groupon or go to the restaurant website and then walked away. Will not return. Also food was overpriced imo at $14 for a plate with 2 enchiladas, rice & beans. read more

Best Mexican food in town! Their tortilla chips are homemade and the best I've ever eaten... I'm from south Texas originally, so I'm no stranger to good Mexican food. Good things to try: enchiladas, cadillac margarita, chips salsa and guac, corn and goat cheese quesadillas, any of their salads or desserts! Edder (spelling? sorry man!) is always our server and is friendly, courteous and great at what he does! read more

We went on a crowded Saturday night, wait wasn't bad and they have an easy system to get people in the door. The service was minimal and they forget a part of our order. No effort to go out of the way for patrons. Very delicious food and a great late night happy hour. A drink was forgotten and they comped for our friend - a truly nice staff. read more

Omg!!!!! Their pozole if out of this world good. I've had many different pozoles and all of them were greasy. I also don't like pork, so the chicken option was the best. Their chips are also super good and crunchy, paired with the trio of salsas 10/10 would recommend! read more
