I have been hearing great things about Que Vida for a while and decided since I was in the area to give it a try. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant was light, airy and open. There was a friendly hostess behind the counter by the name of Jessica, who was quite helpful, especially since it was my first time in the restaurant. I told her I was a vegan and didn't notice many choices on the menu. She then directed me to the items that they did have and she told me that they would be more than happy to remove dairy items and make substitutions as needed if that's what I wanted. For my first go around I just tried the salsa flight, the birria sauce, refried beans and red rice. All of the food I ordered was delicious. I plan to go back with my family so that they can try it as well. They are meat eaters, and I'm pretty sure that they will be able to really enjoy what they serve here. I just discovered this restaurant with my family, and it's a real gem! The food is so authentic Mexican. I've been to tons of fancy restaurants and local Mexican spots, but this one is definitely my favorite. I was so impressed with this little place and found out they have other locations nearby. I had the Que Vida Burrito with chicken (tender grilled white breast, big juicy cubes) and customized it--no cheese, added cabbage + guacamole. So filling, fresh, and flavorful. My girlfriend's chicken + steak tacos were just as good, especially loaded up with salsa bar toppings. Dog-friendly patio, great service, and authentic vibes. Oh--and they serve fresh churros. 3.5 stars Honestly, I chose this place purely based on vibes - I wanted to eat tacos on a patio because the weather was weathering. We started off with the chips and salsa flight ($5.50), but then got upsold to adding guacamole and chips ($8.50) with our order. The chips & salsa is plenty if you're looking for a nice way to appease your hunger while you wait for your food. One order comes with handmade corn tortillas and 3 different types of salsa: salsa norteña, chile de arbol + salsa verde. The guacamole was fine, but you definitely don't need it if you're not feeling both. I shared a few tacos - my favorite being the La Norteña - taco de asada ($5.75). This comes topped with USDA prime skirt steak, Oaxaca cheese, avocado spread, onion & cilantro and chile de arbol salsa. The asada was delicious. It was tender and flavorful. It looked and acted like glow-up of your favorite asada street taco. The other tacos we shared - La Capital ($5.50 - al pastor) and Coahuila ($5.50 - chicken) - were fine fancy tacos. Actually the pollo was not for me. It came topped with wood fire chicken, Oaxaca cheese, roasted corn esquites + radish. I love roasted corn esquites, but I don't love roasted corn esquites in my taco. It makes the taco a little mushy and a little too corny. I can get on board with some of the flavor combinations here, but there are others that I'm meh about. Big take away? Great way to sit back and enjoy a weekend brunch. Finally went to Que vida to check out the brunch. The gentleman that took our order was very friendly and I told him I couldn't decide between trying the Huevos Rancheros or the breakfast tacos. He suggested the breakfast tacos as they can do two types of meat not just bacon. I opted for the breakfast tacos and ordered one bacon and one chorizo as recommended. Both were amazing had great flavor. Enjoying them as they came no sauce was necessary unless you like heat. The salsa on the side is a little hot so be warned to those who are sensitive. The chorizo was so delicious and love that they make it there in house so it is not a greasy mess as you would expect from standard chorizo. These breakfast tacos are anything but standard. Loved both of them. The breakfast potatoes served on the side were absolutely delicious. Reminded me of fajitas the way they are served with pico de gallo and small slices of bell peppers. Yum. Next time maybe I'll try the huevos or chilaquiles? I believe the chilaquiles are made with the same choose either green or red, enchilada sauce that is to die for. read more

My family and I came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. I ordered a wet breakfast burrito, my husband ordered the breakfast burrito, mom ordered tacos, and dad ordered a burrito. The included chips and salsa were great. The tortilla chips were thick, salty, and crispy. My wet breakfast burrito was very tasty. The sauce on top was a light red sauce, which was tasty. This is a staple next to our home and we love ordering here. The burritos are quite large and my husband always gets the Cali one. I usually stick to the tacos. Al pastor is delicious here and the food comes out really fast! They have limited seating, so plan for that. They can do table service or you can order at the cashier and eat at your table. I'd been craving Mexican food and this meal had me pumping my fist in the air and blowing chef's kisses. The steak and shrimp fajitas were amazing and came with a generous layer of cheesy vegetables as a base. I'm obsessed with how they cut the shrimp so it's curly (not sure how else to describe it and I ate it before considering taking a photo). It came with a side of guac, limes, and corn tortillas. The birria tacos were impressively packed with meat and had a nice layer of melted cheese on top. I appreciated that the shells stayed together (rather than falling apart like at some other restaurants). They were tasty and also came with lime wedges and dipping sauce (I like to drench mine so next time, I'd ask for extra). Bonus points that the meal was this good even as take-out. I think Que Vida just took over as my favorite spot for Mexican. I'd have a hard time not ordering the fajitas and birria tacos again, but their salads and burritos sound really good too! I'll be back and will be recommending to others! Edit to add: I came back less than a week later and dined in. I had a steak taco and birria taco. The steak taco (#1) is phenomenal. I fully intended to try a different taco when I ordered a 3rd, but it was so good I opted for an additional steak one. The guacamole is very nice but the chips are on the hard, thick side and all the salt falls off so you have to pinch it off the bottom of the bowl and sprinkle it back on, so I'd skip these next time. She bartends, refills drinks and even happily busses dishes... NOTHING goes unnoticed when Kathy is holding the reins... Today, when I asked if Kathy was working, I was told there are THREE new managers. Three people DOING WHAT KATHY DID ON HER OWN since the restaurant opened...without a hiccup(?) I've had MANY parties here and she has handled everything with no more than one additional person helping her. You are doing a disservice to your customers by Kathy not being here, ESPECIALLY on your BUSIEST nights, Taco Tuesday AND Friday! Ridiculous. My husband and I came in for lunch on Halloween and were pleasantly surprised. To start we were greeted with a warm smile and cheerful welcome the minute we walked through the front door. Hubby got the spicy margarita and I went for the blueberry watermelon margarita because it sounded unique. Luis took his time making them, and they looked beautiful when they arrived. Pretty and tasty!!! Another win! While we looked at the menu Luis delivered fresh chips and salsas. The chips were warm and nicely golden in color. Three salsas accompanied the chips, a mild red which was our favorite, a medium green, which was also delicious, and a spicy red. The spicy red wasn't very hot so if you are leery to try it due to the label I encourage you to dip a chip and give it a try. The flavor was great! Now let's talk food- I love food- Mexican food is one of my absolute favorites, but I don't get it regularly because my hubby doesn't like it. He finds most Mexican food cheap, and full of artery clogging crap- so getting him to agree to try this place was a score, getting him to return, a total victory!! We ordered the carne asada fries to start. They arrived and not only looked beautiful on the tray, but they were delicious! Packed with fresh guacamole, tomatoes, salsa, steak, and sliced jalapeños. They were the perfect size for sharing. We would absolutely order these again! For lunch I enjoyed the asada taco. It came on a freshly cooked corn tortilla with a generous portion of steak, fresh onions, cilantro and a green sauce. YUM! My hubby enjoyed two tacos, the asada and carnitas. He ate both without a word which means they were darn good! After enjoying our lunch I decided to try the pineapple margarita which was delicious and fresh also. We shared some churros that came with three dipping sauces and were warm and perfectly cooked. We paid our bill and thanked Luis for truly making our lunch memorable.
