My husband ordered the Chilaquiles Plate, and I got the salmon burrito (no beans, no rice, my first time trying it). Everything came out super fast, even though there was only one person working, which honestly impressed me. My burrito was really good, fresh, flavorful, and not heavy at all. I just am relaxing into my food coma from my order an hour ago. I come here from Portland whenever i visit my mom who lives 5 minutes away. My favorite socal old school burrito. The asada is tasty. Burrito is big and makes me regret choices in a good way. I opt for no rice and light beans because I like to delude myself that this bomb of a burrito is diet food. Been wanting to try this place for a bit. Finally stopped in for dinner with my brother. Friendly 10+ year hole-in-the-wall place kept very clean. Staff friendly and welcoming when entering. I ordered a cheese enchilada plate (choice of beef or chicken too) which came with rice, beans, and pico de gallo. My brother had the carne asada wet burrito and a carnitas taco. On my plate the rice was fluffy, flavorful, and tender. Not dry and bland like so many other places. The beans were tasty and WHOLE, not just a mound of refried from a can. The enchiladas were plump and delicious with a flavorful sauce. The pico de gallo was fresh, crisp, and refreshing. My brother's carnitas taco was full enough that he had to use a fork to eat all the moist porky heaven inside. Now his wet carne asada burrito...it instantly gave the WOW factor when it was delivered to the table. It was Huge! He wanted to eat every morsel of it but had to reluctantly bypass the tortilla about half way through to finish the tender carne asada insides. We're already planning to go back soon for their breakfast offerings. read more

Tonight got 2 burritos - Sunset (steak and shrimp) and Carne Asada, plus guacamole and chips and a Diet Coke. Total was $35.51. The Carne Asada burrito should have been rung up as a Build Your Own Burrito (BYOB) for $6.99 since it just had carne asada, beans and cheese. Also, I don't think they have refried beans, only pinto and black. The Sunset burrito with steak and shrimp is $12.99 - so that's $19.98 so far. That means the balance was the chips and guacamole and Diet Coke plus tax. Last time I ordered chips and guacamole, they charged me $3.99 for chips and salsa, then custom item $2.99 plus custom item $.50. Does that mean guacamole costs $7.48? Not worth that. The guacamole was in the same small container as a salsa. There was also a large pit piece in there.(see picture) Total so far $27.46. The most they would charge for a canned soda would be $2-3.00? Let's say $3.00 in this scenario. We're at $30.46. Plus Huntington Beach sales tax at 7.75% = $32.82. Charged $35.51. I don't see where it's coming from unless I was charged the "gullible dumb lady." fee. I do not like that they charge via "custom item" since you don't actually know what they are charging you for. Seems very arbitrary, like depending on how they feel about you, if you're a regular or how much money you look like you have, they will charge more or less. This sucks because Roman's is literally across the street from our place. But maybe shame on me for not asking more questions when I got rung up tonight. read more

Owned by brothers Abraham and Armado who opened this gem about 10 years ago and we were there with them. Although it's primarily a Mexican cafe, we go there at least twice a week for one of their amazing breakfast. This place has some really good stuff and some not so much. Tried the breakfast, it was OK, not great. The burgers are huge but very pedestrian as are the fries. The carne asada isn't bad but too much gristle. The carnitas is good' but a little dry, it needs help. The carnitas quesadilla is killer with the cheese and meat. I was craving a Mexican breakfast and I had never been here, even though the parking lot is always packed so thought I would give this place a try. Whoa!! This place is so amazing! Absolutely fantastic. Chorizo & eggs with cheese and jalapeño. It came with hash browns which my hubby loved. I also ordered the pineapple Agua fracas - so wonderful and refreshing! Hubbs ordered the French toast and holey moley it was delicious! Light taste of cinnamon and vanilla and not greasy whatsoever. We opted to eat outside and quickly learned why the parking lot was so packed. Lots and lots of to go orders- that speaks volumes. Even though we ate outside, the gentleman who took our order came out to check on us regularly. What a great experience. For this week's brunch outing, hubby and I decided to try Roman's based on high Yelp reviews. It's located in a small plaza in Huntington Beach, situated between a hair salon and bar. I ordered a veggie omelette with a side of fruit and pancake instead of potatoes and toast, while my husband got the carne asada breakfast plate with hash browns and pancake for his sides. And of course, two cups of coffees. Everything was yum! While the omelette was a bit on the smaller side, it tasted hearty and healthy. The pancake wasn't as fluffy as my expectations but satisfied my craving. I had a bit of the asada and the meat was tender and flavorful. We both enjoyed our dishes a lot. The server / cashier was friendly and attentive, and the owner (who refilled our cups) was the same. I even complimented him on our orders. Another good sign of this place was the steady stream of customers and some appeared to be regulars. I'd definitely recommend Roman's especially if you're want something great but won't break the bank. This place is a solid choice and can be considered stiff competition to other fancier establishments. Would I eat here again?
