My "plate" (styrofoam container) was so heavy it cracked! I was given a second bag to catch spillage. I commented that this would be dinner and probably lunch tomorrow. The cashier and serving gentleman chuckled and agreed. I saw the passion tea and ordered that also. Now, the taste. The pork chops are delicious. Gravy is good, meat is tender and not too salty. They're good size chops, I didn't finish one. Max and cheese is very cheesy. Well seasoned and noodles are firm and not mushy. The dressing is not it for me. It's a little "mealy" and not much flavor. I can taste the sage but it feels undercooked to me. The cornbread muffin is okay. Not as sweet as jiffy mix, but too sweet to be hot water cornbread. I will return and try some other sides. Prayerfully next time they'll have the turkey wings or fried ribs I wanted to try. However the gravy from the pork chops on some mashed potatoes would be heavenly.

The oxtails were tender, the jerk chicken was delicious, and the rice and plantains were the perfect sides. I also really enjoyed the fish empanadas--they were a pleasant surprise. The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the potato salad, but that's just because I'm very picky about potato salad, so that's no fault of the restaurant. The restaurant has plenty of seats, and is great for a date night. Considering how much goes into cooking this food, the service is quite fast. The garnaches reminded me of Venezuelan tostadas. I think that what was a miss for this dish was the drizzle of ketchup. Since I stopped using condiments from grocery stores, the flavor of such tends to ruin dishes for me. I liked the conch fritters. I would order those by the bagful just to have for snacks. My main dish was the stew chicken with rice and beans and a side of plantains. Surprisingly, this was more like baked chicken. There was no hint of cumin, cloves, or garlic. There were no tomatoes. There wasn't a sauce or a gravy. There was flavor, of which I give them that, but the same stew that I've had in Belize and in my Belizean friends' home was not served here. It very well may be that the dish prepared here simply differs from that which I have had before. It wasn't a bad thing. Not everyone prepares every dish the same way.
