Services are rough and rushed. Place isn't clean and massage chairs doesn't even work. I've gotten a gel mani and regular pedi here twice and my gel mani only last for a week. All nails should not be peeling from the top like I've been washing dishes as my regular job. Both together costs $60 and I will not be going back when I can pay the same with a glass of wine at a downtown D.C. location that's clean. read more

I've gone here a couple times. The first was probably the best experience. The techs were attentive, but since my first visit months ago this shop has gone down. My eyebrows were uneven after a wax. On another visit, the tech did not put a clear coat under my gel manicure so I could not get the paint off myself. She couldn't get it off either and had to drill it off. Today, the techs accepted new customers, knowing they were short staff and not giving any warning of the wait time before service. I sat for 30-40 minutes waiting for a pedicure with my feet in the water. I watched them nickel and dime customers, and the tech told me scrubbing off dead skin would be an extra $6. Since when has a pedicure not include a minimum dead skin scrub??? After questioning her, she didn't charge extra. This has never been a thing until now. Every time I say I'm not going back, but this time is the real deal. Won't get me again. read more

If I can put -5 stars I would! I have been going to this nail salon for over 5 years. I came here on May 26th at 5:13pm to get a take off from Shellac. The owner, LeeLee attempted to use the "powered drill" and I asked her to soak my nails on acetone and to use the miniature shoe horn type device to push it off. She caught a serious attitude and finally did it. The results were the shellac nail polish was still on and she wouldn't even shape,file, and even my nails. I wish I would've taken a picture of my nails as they were jagged and the shellac polish was still on. I would've posted the picture here so you guys could see it. To make matters worst, I noticed some of the technicians were leaving as she was doing my nails and I said " oh you guys are closing, I didn't know that" and she responded, "yeah you can go too." I said, "excuse me," and she repeated herself. I then said that it was the worst customer service ever and I had been coming faithfully to that nail salon for 5 years. She did not act apologetic or in a customer oriented manner. Needless to say, I said goodbye and honestly goodbye means forever. Bottom line it's horrible when you do not treat long time patrons with decency, respect, and in a friendly manner. I will never go back and I think everyone who reads this shouldn't either. The entire salon does not care about you nor your nails. Other tidbits: The cleanliness over the past two years have gone down too. If you don't believe me, ask them to show you the cleaning product for the pedicure chair. If you do ask that question, you will find out that they use "windex" to clean their foot bathes. I have been going to Venus Nails for about 6 months because it is located a couple of blocks from my job. I would always go on my lunch break. I went to get my eyelashes done and Lee lee was very rude. I had an appointment and she made me wait 30 minutes. I was very upset because I had went on my lunch break. Then my eyelashes messed up one day later and when I went to get them fixed, she told me that I needed to pay her. When I told her that I had just got them done the day before, she told me that I could fix them myself then since I was not going to pay her. I would not recommend this place, it's not worth the money and the staff is rude. * WARNING: DO NOT GET "EYELASH EXTENSIONS" HERE* I have had eyelash extensions that cost a small fortune and take at least 1 hour to apply, so I should have known that the "eyelash extensions" here were too good to be true. It costs $28 and takes less than 10 minutes to apply. In order to remove the eyelash extensions, the technician CUT MY REAL EYELASHES, leaving my top lashes shorter than the bottom lashes and telling me that they'll "grow back in a week". I didn't realize my real lashes were being cut to remove and reapply the fake lashes until I decided to take a break from them and walked out with hardly any top lashes. The cheap price is NOT worth sacrificing your real lashes. read more

Loves this spa I got my eyelash extensions here and suprisingly it lasted for up to 2 months when it usually lasts up to 2 to 3 weeks and also got my eyebrows, upper lip, and chin waxed and she did a great job they use chocolate wax which is another plus and smells very good never went to any other spa where they would use chocolate wax :) I recommend this place to everyone read more

I had scheduled an appointment with Andy and when I arrived and was told someone else would be doing my pedicure. He had just started the nails of a walk-in. Turned out the lady to do my pedicure was a new individual and I received a "fair" pedicure except I had to go home and redo the polish. Lady finished my pedicure and I was placed at Andy's station. I waited about 15 minutes and walked to the back to find owner and I was told Andy was doing eyebrows for someone. At this point I had been there going on two hours and I left. I tipped the lady and left cash for my pedicure. Salon located in a extremely bad neighborhood but I went there because I have been a customer of Andy's for years. My daughter also was going there and she had an appointment and was made to wait earlier in the week. My 2 previous appointments I was made to wait for 15-30 minutes with an appointment. You make an appointment and then they take a walk-in and you are made to wait. Extremely unprofessional and I would not recommend. Definitely not a pleasant experience. read more

Be CERTAIN you know the denomination of cash you give. I had a good eyebrow wax. At the end of my service I gave them a $20. I only had $5s and $20s in my wallet. The tech walked to the back with my cash and came back with no change. When I asked for my change she said I only gave $10. The person she gave the cash to came out with a $10 and said this is what she was given. And why would she lie. I told her I only had $20s and she said I must be confused and asked if I was sure. I told her I was and I would not be coming back. She said she DID NOT care if I was coming back and there was no reason for her to say any different. She's right, I can't prove it but I know what I had and what I gave. This was an awful experience. I have never been treated so poorly. I have never ever had such tacky nails before ever. Not only did I have to be rushed, be told I could not change my mind, I had 4 people service me for a fill and gel nails. My gel chipped the same day. They wanted me to pay $5 dollars for re-service the next day, for not doing my nails right. These people jerked my hands around and was completely rude and disrespectful. Overall what I expected. went in on a wed afternoon around noon for a gel full set with no wait and was seated immediately. she got to work and was done within about an hour. she was careful and through and nails turned out pretty average. price on the wall says 35 but I was charged 40? it served its purpose i suppose. read more

I have been to Venus nails a few times to get my eyebrows, basic manicures and pedicures done. The last two instances have caused me to leave this review. So, the most recent time I went for a gel manicure. This was the first time i got the gel done here. The guy who did the manicure started by drilling my nails. Now I know some places do the gel manicures different but this was the first time ive ever seen a drill being used for a gel manicure, which i had done before at different salons. I didn't say anything until he started to put a substance on my nails that looked like acrylic. I had to ask the lady next to me, who had her hands under the UV lights, if she had got gel and did her technician do to her what mine was doing to me. Of course she said no, so I immediately stop the tech and reiterated I wanted a gel manicure. He said " oh oh...you want gel???" I told him that what I told him in the beginning. Nonetheless, I was botched and vowed to never get a gel manicure there again. The last instance of me going to Venus nails is what really triggered me to post this review. I went in to get my eyebrows waxed by Lilly (the owner). Lilly has done my eyebrows several times and they always look nice. But, Lilly must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed this particular morning because her attitude was STANK!!! To keep the rest of this short, Lilly put the wax on me and pulled harder than usually. I joking said to her that she was being ruff...she took offense to my comment and continued to give me attitude and lip until she was finished. Now, she and I have had a joking relationship in the past, so I didn't understand why she was taking offense to my comment. When it was time to pay I said to her I hope she didn't take my comments too seriously and that we have joked together before. She proceeded to tell me not to joke with her like that and I didn't have to come back to her shop. I was shocked. I told her she didn't have to worry about me coming ever back. To end this, apparently Lilly could care less about losing my business. And I'm happy to spend my money elsewhere. Even a few friends that I've sent to them for services have complained about her attitude and I've shoved it off. Well, since I've experienced it, it's officially a done deal. I won't be going back. Attitude plays a big part in customer service and it's something Venus Nails needs to work on. read more

I give this salon 5 starts because I've gone here for almost 5 years and I see how great they do their job. I don't believe half of these reviews because from my personal experience I've loved it from day one! I am the pickiest person you could meet when it comes to nails and lily really takes the time to do things how I like them! I've gone from upscale to middle class salons and I've learned that the hardest workers are the best workers! These ladies give their lives to their customers sitting there all day. Customer service is great and the people are very sweet and funny. The only people I've seen complain were cheap and uneducated! But what do you expect? The location isn't in the best area to begin with and most of the people I've seen complain were very rude to these nice people. I came here to get my nails done for the first time and was pleased with the pedicure the guy did a great job. I also got a gel acrylic refill and it seemed fine at first. Not even 2 days later it was chipping. I came in to get them fixed and was charged $10, I didn't understand why but it was fine with me at first. Now not even 24 hours later my nail color is chipping AGAIN. Clearly there is something wrong with the polish cause this has never happened to me before. I called and asked if I would be charged again since I already paid for my pedicure and gel refill and then again to get it re-painted and the lady said "it depends" depends on what?! they're something WRONG WITH THE DAMN POLISH. don't waste your time coming here. The least they could've done was have the courtesy to re paint it for free or let me get a different color. Not coming here again and I DONT recommend this useless salon to anyone. read more

It sucks that my first review has to be a not so good but I went here just yesterday 3/1/2017 and my my nails were not completely dry when I put stuff back in my purse or did anything with my hands the color would just peel off, so when she rubbed them with a cotton ball with oil I got the cotton ball fuzz in my nails, she rushed me just to do someone else's eyebrows that weren't even done with their own pedicure. All my nails look dirty and streaky like I've had them for months. The color is peeling off and it's gel when I told her that they weren't ready or done being dried or when she took out my hand out of the machine and I said it messed up she gave me attitude and this is the owner I'm talking about she rolled her eyes at me. So now I have to go somewhere else tonight to fix them it's so hard to find a good nail salon . Do not come here because even the owners bad imagine the rest of her employees. I also told them to shorten it for me and shape them a little more but they didn't do that. So, I've gone to this salon maybe two or three times before but it is typical to get my eyebrows done. I like the way the younger girls do my brows, but the older lady has messed them up before. Anyway this review is about my nail service. I went in on Saturday morning to get a gel manicure and a regular polish pedicure. I was the only one in the salon so I got in right away and Lili started working on my feet. She was very rude, not talking to me at all just pushing my leg around when she needed me to move. I said to her, you can just tell me where you want me to put my feet, I can move them myself, well I think that made her mad because she put the wrong color polish on my toes, I picked a color from the gel colors because typically the salons have the matching colors, I told her the number and everything. It was a light grey and she put an almost black color on my toes!! Then she messed up my finger nail color by putting a light purple instead of a light pink. Like how does that happen when I gave you the numbers, I was scared to correct her because she was so rude!! Now four days later my shellac is barely still on, It started peeling the second day. Crappy service from a rude employee, will not be returning. $70 was wayyyyyy too much money for an awful incorrect service. read more

The first time she did my nails, she did an amazing job and this time she rushed and did not pay attention. Long story short, I asked for my nails to be in filed square and she caught an attitude, when I told her these were not square. I was already in the shop for an hour and 15 min and needed to leave. I just told her to take off the nails and she did, she cut them very jagged and horrible, she then told me to soak them for 30 min. As mentioned, I was in a rush so I told her I had to go. She told me she had to charge me full price for the nails, when she did not even finish the work and left my nails in a horrible condition. I should have known from the beginning she was going to be horrible in her work because she skipped steps and began them while I was getting a pedi. She was very unprofessional yelled at me and said what was wrong with me and carried herself unprofessionally. I insisted on paying for my pedicure and a portion of the work for my nails. She said If I did not pay the full amount she would call the cops, which I ended up calling them myself and told them about the situation. Again, I did not have time and had to go so I told the cops not to come and they seemed to be understanding. I could understand paying for services completed but this looked horrible. If she is proud of her work and stealing from a customer then be my guest. My ex roommate used to go there as well until they messed up on her pedicure and hurt her, and the owner shrugged it off and said she did not get hurt. I went there once to get a pedicure and it was still FOOT CRUST AND SHAVINGS in the pedicure bowl. After having that first experience, I never went back. I asked for acrylic removal service, and that was one of the most painful experiences of my life. The lady would not soak my nails in acetone first. She literally took another fake nail and wedged it underneath my acrylic nail and tried to pry it off! I was screaming in my chair telling her that it was painful and she didn't care and wouldn't listen to me. Then she took out a drill because she couldn't get all the acrylic off and started to try to file my nail down. She filed so hard that it went through my nail and into my flesh underneath! Now there is a gaping hole in my natural nails and I'm bleeding. My fingers were so sore for days after the experience, and she didn't even get all my acrylic off! She just gave up at a point and just stopped everything. It was $10 to for the removal and I still tipped $5 despite my nightmare experience, because I know what it's like to live off tips. 2-20-16 WORST EXPERIENCE EVER-I came into this nail salon with my 6 year old daughter to get a full set of nails and the the nail tech started to do my nails and we were watching the QVC channel. 10 minutes later two white women and their child come in the salon right when they came in my nail tech told me to let my nails dry right after she put the powder on my nails-which that only takes 2 two mins to dry- she then proceeds to go help the white lady that came in after me while I'm still waiting -during this time they turn on cartoons for the other little girl that was sitting in the salon when she came in there and didn't acknowledge my child being there before who they just kept it on the QVC channel To make a long story short I sat there and waited for this women to get a whole manicure done even though I came there before her and there was no apologies and lily the owner still took my money and they didn't even finish the job.CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE when people start coming in the nail shop they start rushing on your nails and eyebrows. The work is not good quality!!!!!!!! They catered to white and I have been going there for over 8 years. She is all about the money and not concerned with the customers!!!!!!
