I had Kim and boy did she give me one of the best pedicures I've had in a good while. Nothing fancy; simple place and clean. Don't be scared by the fact they have to buzz you in. I needed a last minute mani /pedi before a date night, and Mimi hooked me up! I found queen nails on yelp and the reviews were decent. I called over, and Mimi told me she could see me if I could be there in 10 min. I hustled over and she buzzed me in and started my pedicure right away. I work in a doctors office washing my hands about 100x a day, my cuticles are always busted! She took her time and meticulously pushed back and trimmed my hands to perfection. The shop isn't very fancy, but it's very clean and I felt pampered. For a mani/pedi, hand and leg massage, detailed cuticle work and callous remover, I paid.... $25!!!!! I am very pleased with the cute race day checkered tip manicure Mimi patiently painted for me yesterday. I would include a pic if I knew how. She was very fastidious and careful. Larry was also very skilled and careful doing my acrylic fill. They were both knowledgeable and helpful describing acrylic vs gel and fill vs renewing a full set to me and another customer. They seem to really know their stuff! Very nice people too. I was pleased that they shared a little of their family history and experience as hard working emmigrants. Their helper (whose name I did not ask) was also very pleasant, thorough and gentle doing my pedicure. The dollars and the time spent were very reasonable. I have been to a couple of other places in my neighborhood who are very good individual manicurists but with just one technician, a mani and pedi can take a long time. If not for my crazy checkered paint job, I would've been in and out of there in 90 minutes! Yay! Queens Nails no longer exist, it's under new management. The new manager does not take gift certificates from Queens Nails. She referred me to call or text the old owner to get money back from my gift certificate with the remaining balance of $10 lol I won't be back and I'll be sure to tell others about my experience. Old management didn't know how to do designs and had outdated techniques. New management knows new designs but gets attitude quickly and talks crap in Vietnamese. FYI I have an app that translates all Asian and Chinese languages, they say the rudest things while doing clients nails and feet. If there are any black owned nail salons in the long Beach or Los Angeles area please comment to this post. I would love to visit your shop! read more

I stopped in here to treat myself to a manicure before my cruise. The staff were very friendly. I think it helped that my husband is Vietnamese, and they were able to chat in their native language. Regardless, my manicurist was very sweet and did a great job with my nails. She was patient with me when I was trying to decide my colors, too. All in all, a great experience with a reasonable price tag. Certainly not a fancy place, and the locked door that can only be opened by a buzzer inside was surprising to me, but I'd definitely go back if I lived in Long Beach. read more

I live around the Corner and have been coming to see Loc and Mimi now every 3 weeks for about a year. I have ALWAYS had the best service and my nails last at least 2.5 weeks (sometimes I am doing some home renovations where they chip but that is to be expected). For starters, I had to wait a while for a mani/pedi. Like almost half an hour. I didn't make an appointment or call ahead, so that may be a good idea before you go here. I went on a Tuesday afternoon so I didn't think it would be busy, but it was. Color selection was a little limited. The actual mani and pedi was really good. The technician was very clean and was attentive to detail as she shaped and buffed my nails. The price: $20 for a mani/pedi! It's a great deal that maybe they were only offering for a day, but I think the regular price was only a few dollars more for both, so it's a great value. The main issue was that the color didn't last long at all. I had waited a while to let it dry before leaving, and I didn't bang up or scuff up the color. But by the next day, I noticed the edges of the color were already chipping away. Within 3 days, the polish on one of my fingers had completely chipped off. My pedis usually last a few weeks, but this one was pretty much ruined within a few days. I'm going to chalk it up to cheap polish since the technician had worked so hard to perfect my nails. Overall, the service was great, prices are superb, but maybe go for a gel mani/pedi if you want it to last more than a few days. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would! I'm super picky about my nails as anyone should be considering you're paying for a service for something YOU like. I just moved here from another state and this place is very close to my apartment. First, I generally don't like when men do my nails as they are more heavy handed and not as good at detail as women, but I will give anyone a chance. My husband usually will get a manicure with me so his hands stay nice as well. We went in and I told them I wanted a gel manicure. My nails are short since I haven't had a manicure since I moved here and they aren't strong so I cut them short. She asked if I bite them. I said that I NEVER bite them and told her why and explained that after I have gel on them they stay nice and get longer. She asked if I was sure I didn't want to make them longer. No! I said what I want. And then she proceeded to continue not listening to me and she and the man doing my nails spent most of their time speaking to each other in another language which is EXTREMELY rude. My husband got the lady doing his nails. She asked if he wanted his nails buffed and he said yes. She said it would cost more and he said that's fine. Then she did a really lousy job on them. Half of his nails weren't even buffed. The man didn't let my hands soak before putting the little bit of whatever they use on them before shoving my cuticles back. He did the gel on my nails and let the clear top coat pool up in the cracks between my skin and the nails and then had them set like that. I came home and filed the sides down because it looked horrible and I didn't trust them to fix it. I buffed my husband's nails myself and they came out looking much better than whatever she did to them. And now because I had to file the sides of my nails they were still thick and have been peeling up. I've only had them done for a week. Gel nails should last two to three weeks. All I can say is, it was a good thing it was cheap. And they definitely didn't deserve the 15.00 tip my husband gave them. I guess you get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! read more
