I know it's one of the most common styles nowadays so I figured I would be in good hands with it coming out good. It came out nice except for the fact you can see my natural nail under the base polish. With the flash & natural lighting you can clearly see my natural nail under the polish so it definitely turned me off. I covered the nail art on my ring finger in the photo but it was done pretty well on the first try! I had a gel mani/pedi with French tips that lasted 1.5hrs. My 5pm appt started at 5:15pm and ended at 6:40pm. I felt bad because they were already cleaning ready to close up shop and I was still having my nails done. Either way, I would've been 100% happy if I just didn't see my natural nail under the polish. read more

I used to really enjoy coming here, as it was my go-to place for nails. However, my last two experiences have been disappointing. During one visit, my toenails were ruined the same day. I returned with a timestamped photo to show the issue, and although they redid the service, I was still charged. Most recently, I had an even more concerning experience. During my appointment, my finger was injured and began bleeding. It was quite painful and caused a burning sensation. I informed the staff at checkout that I was actively bleeding from the service, yet no accommodation or adjustment was offered. Instead, I was still expected to leave a tip. I came in for an appointment that I scheduled over the phone for a soak-off and basic manicure on June 23 at 6:00 PM. After checking in, I was seated and waited to be assisted. About 10 minutes later, two other customers walked in. From where I was sitting, I could clearly see that one of the walk-in customers was helped before me. The other customer may have been seated elsewhere, but from my perspective, at least one walk-in guest received service before I did despite me having a scheduled appointment. After waiting for approximately 30 minutes, the only staff member who checked on me was the front desk employee. She appeared to be focused on customer service rather than providing nail services and repeatedly asked whether I would like to purchase a drink. During that time, no nail technician acknowledged me or provided an update regarding my appointment. After waiting half an hour without being assisted, I informed the front desk employee that I would be leaving and asked her to cancel my appointment. This was very disappointing, especially because I had taken the time to schedule an appointment in advance while other customers appeared to be walk-ins. The experience left me feeling overlooked and unwelcome. While I cannot know the reason for the lack of service, it was frustrating that staff were clearly aware I was waiting for an appointment, yet I was not helped while others were seen before me. As someone who looks younger than my age, I sometimes feel that I am not taken seriously as a customer, and this experience reinforced that feeling. Unfortunately, due to this experience, I will not be returning to this salon. No customer should be left waiting for an extended period without communication or acknowledgment, especially when they have a scheduled appointment. read more

Whether you are a walk in or have an appointment they do their best to make sure you are seated in a timely manner. They offer snacks, drinks & light wines during your service which is a nice touch. I've been a loyal customer of Vernis Sage for some time, but after my most recent visit, I will not be returning. I came in to have a single gel builder nail repaired--done just one week prior during my original service at this same salon. I showed the nail tech fixing my nails (not the same tech that did the initial manicure). However, once the repair was complete, it was immediately obvious that the color didn't match the rest of my manicure. Before leaving the parking lot, I returned to the salon to show the mismatch and explain that I had a work trip and unfortunately did not have time for another fix. I simply and respectfully requested a refund of the $7 I paid for the flawed repair. Rather than an apology or solution, I was met with confusion from the manager and a dismissive attitude. She questioned whether I had communicated the right color, which I had, and then outright denied the refund--even while acknowledging the color mismatch. I kept my voice soft and my tone polite yet firm, but was shocked when the manager told me to "calm down" and claimed I was being "loud." Let me be clear: this was not only untrue, but a glaring example of the subconscious and systemic bias Black women face when we advocate for ourselves. The "angry" or "loud" Black woman trope is used far too often to silence us, even when we are calm, composed, and simply requesting fair treatment. If the security footage were reviewed, it would clearly show that I was speaking softly the entire time--even after being denied a refund for a visibly poor service. Under California Civil Code Section 1723, if a customer is genuinely dissatisfied with a service, the business is not legally required to issue a refund unless they have a posted refund policy. However, many service-based businesses voluntarily refund or fix unsatisfactory services as a matter of professionalism and customer care. This was not the case here. What's most disappointing is not the $7--it's the lack of accountability, customer care, and the way I was spoken to as a paying, returning customer. I hope Vernis Sage takes this as an opportunity to train their staff not only on color matching, but also on how to handle customer concerns with empathy and equity, especially for women who are too often dismissed or mischaracterized for speaking up. read more

I appreciate that they have massage chairs for pedicures because I always feel relaxed. A plus is that they offer a snack and a free drink (alcoholic or nonalcoholic). They are a disappointment & have zero concerns with customer satisfaction upon bringing their inadequacies to their attention. My routine nail tech was on a much needed vacation & I went to Vernis as an alternative. I showed the techs I was assigned to two photos of my manicure I had done at a salon in Nor Cal a month ago & specifically asked if they could duplicate it exactly as pictured. They stated they could, were very nice, kind, & provided a complimentary beverage along with a pretzel snack bag. I showed both my pedicure & manicure techs the two photos of my actual nails on my phone at length & both assured me they could replicate the style in my photos (see photos). After they had me in the chair fully submersed in water for the pedicure & the other was drilling on my hands, the manicurist began explaining they might not have my requested color & may have to use another color to achieve my desired outcome. She also said the French manicure I was requesting were "nail designs," not a square French manicure. I showed her the photos again & was politely precise about only wanting the specific nail outcome I was showing her the pics of. I also conveyed to her that it was my actual hand in the photo, so I knew the desired outcome was attainable. She seemed to believe I had dip powder on my current nails although I told her three times it is builder gel. I told her I'd pay for whatever it took to replicate my pic. I also kindly said if she was unable to fulfill my request, I had no issue going elsewhere. I was merely seeking honesty because my birthday is the following day and I had a preference. She assured me that she could do it & she and the pedicure tech spoke in their language at length, went back & forth looking at various color swatches, compared them to my photos, & yet again assured me they could duplicate my request. In summary, you will see in the photos what I received versus what I requested. The color resembles nothing close to a natural French style.I politely told her I did not like them & it was not what I requested. I ultimately ended up having to speak with the manager & politely advocate for myself because the tech was dishonest about the service they completed versus my photos. The manager spoke with her in their language, said her tech disagreed with me, and even went so far as to say, "Do you want me to look at the cameras because I'm in the middle?" (Implying she was mediating between the tech and I) I told her she was more than welcome to review her cameras because I was not lying or trying to take advantage of anyone; however I was seeking to be treated fairly and truthfully based upon services I was paying for. It was like pulling teeth for her to acknowledge their work was unlike my pics altogether. I asked to speak with her manager & she said she was the manager. I articulated that money was not an issue whatsoever, however I was very clear about the specific nail outcome I sought & my birthday is tomorrow, so l am not up for negotiating about an inferior alternative. I merely wanted the service l requested upon arrival, which they promised they could provide. She said that she would speak with her tech later & I had to inquire as to how that would rectify the situation, correct the errors, & how it was a viable solution; along with additional communication of dissatisfaction I won't bore you with. After much polite pushback & stating I would pay but would be disputing it with my cc, she ultimately called their 'owner' via phone and offered two options: 1) Accept 50% off the manicure or 2) They would not charge me for the manicure if l allowed them to remove the gel from my nails. I opted to have the gel removed from my fingers & when she assigned an additional manicurist to complete the removal, the manicurist not only cut my cuticle with her drill, but she also attempted to drill off the builder gel I'd initially arrived with. There were additional disappointments but in the interest of brevity, they are not transparent, try to add on additional charges they do not make you aware of prior to initiating services, & refuse to acknowledge fault when it's blatant. This review should be no surprise to them because I informed the manager directly that I would be posting reviews here & on Google reviews. I also stated that her business lacks integrity, they are only concerned with profit, & they dishonestly misrepresent the services they're actually capable of providing. I will never visit their salon again & I strongly recommend others pursue an alternative salon, if possible. They truly oversell and under deliver. I immediately went to a nail salon a block away & they executed exactly what I presented in my photos without any hesitation or issue in approximately one hour. read more

I have gone to the best nail salons of Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Hancock park, and Hollywood and have never ever been treated with this snobby wanna be better than everyone behavior by the employees.
