Bring your own products and low expectations if you have curly or bold hair. The 2 stars are only because she's inexpensive. I wanted a bold style for my naturally curly hair and decided to try a side undercut--so I shaved half my head myself and came in just needing a cleanup in the back. From the moment I walked in, I felt judged for my hairstyle. Nahia even asked if I had a "Britney Spears moment," which was incredibly hurtful and inappropriate. It's been two weeks, and I still feel self-conscious, even though this was something I'd wanted for a long time. I know not everyone will like or understand bold styles, but I expected basic professionalism from someone I trusted to work with my hair--especially since I usually avoid salons because they mishandle curls. I brought all of my own products to avoid harsh or allergenic ingredients (like coconut and apricot), and while she did use them, she ignored my explicit request not to use heat--diffusing my hair and sitting me under a dryer at full heat. The haircut itself was uneven in the back (the whole reason I went in), and the longer layers she added on the side clashed with the undercut. She cut my curls while soaking wet, which isn't ideal for curly hair. She even parted down the middle, including the shaved side, and just started trimming. I had no split ends--just a little frizz--but left with much shorter hair and no shape. I was charged $50 and tipped 30%, probably because I was still processing how upset I actually was. If you have simple hair and want a basic cut, maybe. But if you have curls or want a bold style, avoid her--you'll likely end up disappointed, judged, or both.

Heidi is located in the Salon Village building with several other suites. Parking is conveniently located right outside of the building. Heidi has her own large suite (C2) decorated nicely with bright paintings and very clean. For a brow wax to be considered good to me, I need my waxer to not only wax, but also tweeze (you would be surprised how many do not). Heidi does wax and tweeze! Phew!! Some waxers also wax in the sitting up position, which I do not like. I prefer to be horizontal to get all the little fine hairs that can only be seen under good lighting. Heidi has a massage type table to lie on while waxing. Another phew!! I also noticed I didn't break out after being waxed. I typically get little red itchy bumps, so I was happy I didn't this time. Her products must be higher end. She sanitized the table after my waxing. Heidi is very conversational, professional and timely. I found my new waxer. Highly recommend! (I didn't get to take photos of her actual suite since we jumped right into my appointment.) Heidi has a text friendly way to schedule your appointment. The studio is clean, well lit and the staff were welcoming. My waxer had a gentle touch so it was easy breezy. Took all of 5-7 minutes and we were done. After my service, I checked out at the desk. They did ask me if I wanted to leave a tip, which I always do, but stop asking us. It's uncomfortable and unnecessary. But overall, it was a good experience. About a year ago this location was bought by a new owner and they started making changes. It's taken about a year, and I'm finally over it and making my final decision and reviewing. First issue, when the new owner came around she let go many of the seasoned employees and all of the waxers that I was familiar with were replaced or left. Most of the new staff were friendly (some had major attitude issues) but it was hard to find someone I really liked (gotta feel pretty comfortable with someone in order for them to be touching around in my private areas). Just recently after a year of trying to find a good provider, it seems there has been another mass exodus of employees and everyone is new again. New isn't bad, but inexperience is. I've now seen 4 different girls and all of their wax techniques are different. Some use HUGE strips and some you can tell are rushing. Every time I leave, I'm in throbbing pain and the area that was waxed is very tender. This is not something that use to happen in the past. But now, this past year under new ownership, I don't think I've left feeling 100% satisfied about a wax once. Secondly, it seems that they are cutting costs and corners in some of the most ridiculous places. They switched the pre-wax wipes to these garbage wipes that are so flimsy they rip when you try to use them. The draping paper towels they use are smaller and more see through as well. It's little things that once you've been coming to a business for years, you notice when they change, and especially when they change for the worse. Lastly, three times in a row now when I arrive for my appointment during business hours, the front door is locked and no one is at the front desk to notice to open the door for me. I have to call the number and ask to be let in. This location is not in a sketchy part of town and there is absolutely no reason for the front door of an establishment to be locked during business hours. If you want to have the front door locked, then there should be a team member at the front ready to open the door at all times. Customer should not have to stand outside and wait to be let in after they call. I am not planning on canceling my membership, but I might try out a different location that's not owned by this person. I use to love Waxing the City and would rave about how great the membership was. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone now.
