If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, please stop by and check it out. It was one the emu expected highlights of our visit here. We came for a dinner last night. For me, a blank angus steak cooked to perfection while my husband ventured to a country fried prime rib. Both leaving us wobbling out the door. The owners of the hotel and grille suggested we come back the next day for your Sunday brunch and we couldn't resist and I'm so glad we didn't. We overindulged with duck breast, a wonderful strawberry soufflé like pancake with the sweetest bits of granola, a pair of sticky toffee buns and even a side of Asiago fries. Decor it's a beautiful scheme of gray and cream with sliver accents. The food was expertly served and prepared. I took my mother and sister here for Mother's Day Brunch, for $48 per plate. I had a small bottle of tea, lobster bisque, the smoked salmon platter & the flourless chocolate truffle cake. The lobster bisque was a little too fishy for my taste but still very good. The smoked salmon platter was a smaller portion than I'd expected but very good & beautifully plated. The flourless chocolate truffle cake was literally the most delicious thing I've ever consumed! I ordered Beef Wellington (to split), two glasses of iced tea, a house salad, and for dessert, Key Lime pie. Everything was great. Met a couple of friends here for lunch. I'd have to say. It's an ok place to eat. They have a very simple menu. And a sushi menu. I had the lunch special which was a shepherds pie dish. Not too impressed with it. Kinda reminded me of stuffed pepper filling with mashed potatoes on top. I also had a sushi roll called the Hot night roll. It was ok. Had shrimp tempura, tuna , and cucumber in it with some kind of spicy mayo on top. I didn't care for the mayo sauce. It over took the flavor of the sushi. For dessert. I had the cheesecake. This was a very large slice that can be shared with a couple of people. Our waiter was very kind. Always made sure our drinks stayed full. But. The prices are a bit high. My tab alone was $42. We decided to stop in late Saturday night. The place was a little empty so we were concerned but it is COVID time. Anyway we ordered the steak, potatoes, and broccoli. The was a great choice after a busy afternoon shopping in the little town of Palestine. We were not hungry for a full meal, but my lady friends and I opted for the shrimp cocktail, the fried green beans (delicious!) and a caesar salad with shrimp. The cocktail we chose was The Train Wreck. Careful! It is VERY potent! But, our waitress promised to see us to the elevator and to our room if needed! Newly owned, renovated and decorated, the steak was succulent, the bread pudding was the best I've had outside of N'rlens, the drinks were great, the service was perfect! Beautiful, quiet, elegant. If you're in town for business for a few days don't trust all these local reviews. This place is okay but their sushi is average at best. I ordered a sushi combo to go. Which is chefs choice sushi and a California roll. Now at every other sushi place I've ever been to, the sushi is nigiri. At this place for $15 you get a California roll and another regular roll. Glad I waited 40 minutes for that. You would think with a total of 12 people in the dinning room at 7:30 on a Saturday, their kitchen would be a little quicker. My wedding ended up being at Elmwood Gardens, and we were a bit stressed out about finding a place in Palestine that would fit our budget, our guests would love, and that my hubby and I would get to fill our foodie needs at. We booked with Red Fire without even having tried the food. Our hotel gave it such a strong recommendation that we decided to grab it while we could. Needless to say, we were not sure at all what to expect. Chef Christian has no business cooking for you lucky boys and girls who live in this area! He would do just fine in any major city, and would be booked up with no problems. The customized menu he built with us to offer our dinner guests was stunning. It included a perfect meat and cheese cocktail reception, 2 starter options- foie gras or fried green tomatoes with crawfish, a perfect salad, 2 entrée options- perfect Duck or a Surf & Turf with out of this world crab cakes, and a shockingly good chocolate torte. Everything that came out looking beautiful, smelling amazing, and tasted just perfect. This man is an artist. I have dined all over this nation. Of the 9 Top Chef restaurants I have been to, the 3 Michelin star restaurants I have been to, and the dozens of celebrity chef high class joints whose plates I have feasted on, Chef Christian provided the most impressive meal from start to finish that I have yet to enjoy. A friend recommended this restaurant and we met another couple there for a destination dinner. Located in a historic hotel in a sleepy town, the décor and atmosphere was clean, sharp and classy. The service was impeccable and friendly. Within our group, we ordered a full range of dishes and all of them impressed. The highlight thereof would be the seared foie gras appetizer and the fried quail entrée! To accompany the meal, they offer a small, but well-appointed wine, beer and spirits selection. We were traveling from Shreveport Louisiana to Houston Texas late one Sunday night just looking for something still open when we discovered the wonder that is Red Fire Grille. One of the few restaurants in town still open at 9:30 on a Sunday night, Dad and I stopped in to give them a try. I'm so glad we did! Everything was so amazing it's hard to know where to start. First of all everyone there is amazingly friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing and charming (I especially loved the interesting lighting and high transom windows!) Not only was the presentation of all the food beautiful and tasty, the attention to detail in everything was incredible. My dad's tea was served with frozen tea cubes and simple syrup instead of sugar for a perfect glass of tea that doesn't get watered down. All the dishes are perfectly balanced... sometimes in fun and unexpected ways. I had the amazing pork chops with chrizo bread pudding. I work at a cajun place so I'm used to sticky sweet bread pudding. Spicy sausage with soft bread turns out to be delicious and fun! For dessert we were hoping for the lavandar creme brulee that another poster had mentioned. They were out that night but we did get a delightful and refreshing lemon tart. The entrance was very obscure. So when you walk into the building turn left immediately and walk towards the glass door. The entire experience was great! The food was prepared to perfection. The atmosphere was clean and refreshing. And the service was a spot on. I cannot wait to go back. I had the NY strip and ordered it medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Not only was the food great but the timing was impeccable. There is nothing worse than a restaurant that moves the courses to fast.
