I for one, believe that the patient should have the right to participate in their own care. During this pandemic I'd rather not go to a doctors office full of sick people to get orders for a routine lab test. I have had low platelet counts in the past and had a radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer as well. Both of these conditions require that I have my blood checked periodically. Rather than schedule a doctor's appointment I can just get on their website, select the appropriate test and by the following morning I can print up my lab orders. The charges for their tests are very competitive with other online labs. They also partner with Quest Diagnostics in my tiny town so, I have a location for the blood draw within a mile of my house. Within a few days I receive an email and can download and print my results. If something is amiss THEN I can schedule a visit to my doctor to discuss treatment. Otherwise, I have peace of mind that my condition is holding steady. I will definitely continue to count on them as a valuable health resource.

The woman on the phone explained what was needed and gave me recommendations on what to make sure was included and how to provide the samples. Dropping them off was a snap and my results arrived by email later in the day. I was a little worried about whether my samples would make it that day since there were a lot in the queue. A work invoice was sent by email after the results and was a quick and easy way to pay (through Quickbooks). There are several different turnaround windows you can opt for, the quickest is naturally the most expensive (~47$ at this writing). Same day samples have to be received by 2pm that day for processing.

When they were doing her blood pressure the machine didn't work so instead of finding one that did work, they just decided not to take it. Like it was a hassle. When she was taken to the back the room was filthy. The floors had dirt and crap on them that had built up over time. The mattresses on the bed was so broken down her rear fell asleep. Room was super cold and no blanket. Asked for one and they gave a thicker sheet. Trash cans were overflowing. Bathroom had dirty pee collection hats stacked up that needed to be cleaned. Gross and unsanitary. When she push the button for help, it took them forever to show up. Thank goodness it wasn't an emergency. This place needs to get it together. I cannot believe what has happened to this place that used to be beautiful.

As I sat there waiting, I realized people were checking in who had appointments - the urgent care places I am familiar with don't take appointments so this surprised me. I had come in for an eye issue and didn't know I could have made an appointment from home that would have saved me waiting all those hours in the waiting room area. The check-in process was easy and was facilitated by a very helpful woman. The PA I saw was thorough and explained what was going on with my eye. He answered all my questions quickly and with words I could easily understand (no big million-dollar medical words!). I'd definitely go back to this urgent care - but if at all possible, I'll be making an appointment from home next time.
