Pretty well managed and efficient. The waiting area with the check-in kiosk is easy enough to use. They only have the one and the waiting area has about eight to ten chairs spaced out. If you have an appointment you'll still encounter a wait and if you're on the standby list even more so like I was today. I was able to run out and back home to grab something I left at home, but got called shortly after I was back. Quest Diagnostics has an easy patient portal/website to navigate. I had a fairly smooth visit for routine labs. The space for Quest - Sherman Oaks needs a bit of tlc inside the offices, you can tell things have just be refreshed with paint, but overall dated. Parking is shared with The Oaks Healthcare Campus center along with Mend Urgent Care, a pharmacy and others. You can find this Q.D. on the second floor via stairs or elevator in room/suite 208. I see a lot of horrible reviews for this place, but it's not THAT bad. They have dozens of nearby locations and have hundreds of apt times per day... what exactly do people expect? A spa? This place is run like a factory and yes, it's highly run down but they get the job done. If you are tech savvy, you don't even need to talk to a single person which I love. I booked my appointment online, I checked in via a text they sent to my phone, I sat in the waiting room for 5 minutes, went into a room where my lab requests were already loaded, had my blood drawn and I was out the door. I came pretty early morning, so they didn't really have a backup of patients but it was a total of about 18 minutes from the time I walked in the door to the time I walked out. I value my time and as long as the needles are sterile, thats all that matters (to me). I get nervous about blood draws and Martha was my phlebotomist. She was super kind and talked me through it, even though I know she has to cycle through probably 100 people in her shift as quickly as possible. This is a place where patients are literally treated as cattle, going through the same motions over and over all day, but she was really great. Tip: the parking lot attached to the building is about $2 per 15 min but there is a neighborhood directly behind the building where you can park for free, just check the signs. read more

3 times I came in to do ONE TEST! I still haven't been able to provide it to my doctor. Quest LOST the first test, 6 months later and another appt, they never told I I needed to fast so I had to return. They also "lost" the second set of orders my doctors office sent. The technician gave me a card with a time, said return in 2 days (this is now the third time for the same test) and that I wouldn't need to wait as she would be there and she scheduled me for 11. I came at 11, promptly and the waiting room was packed with patients even waiting outside as there were no seats left, and the person at that office said she was the only one there, the other person never scheduled me and she was the only one helping people and even people with a scheduled appointment could be waiting an hour to and hour and a half. This place is a disaster. I STILL don't have my test but this is inexcusable. Someone I know told me she had a similar experience in a different Quest across town. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! If I could rate this quest location at a zero, I would. You walk into a tiny gray room with no reception and people just sitting there. It's something out of a horrible dystopian movie. When a customer came out from behind the door, he left it open and somebody from behind it slammed the door so everyone in the gray box/waiting room jumped. Even with an appointment they just don't honor appointment time and it is difficult to work with them. I do not mind at all that the entire staff are foreigners except there were language differences. Trying to change the time was impossible. I don't think there are any alternatives. Talk about a backwards business model!!! They completely wall off the receptionist area + claim. You need an appointment just to pick up testing materials. Our doctor's office told us to just stop by a quest location and they will give us the materials. However, upon arriving a quest I'm told to either make an appointment or go to the location a block away to see if it's empty. If I go to the location across, I lose my place in the waiting list line (to pick up testing supplies). My kid isn't even with me for them to test my kid. It's a take-home test. Who in their right mind thinks it's okay (or even customer friendly) to not have a receptionist to handle issues. There is no staff in the lobby, you just check in on an iPad. There were tons of us waiting in the lobby, and we could hear the employees screaming at each other through the walls. They also had to do my IV twice because the lady messed up the first one. Absolutely terrible experience, especially given customers are coming to Quest for medical care. Do not go here. The concept of "customer service" does not exist with Quest Diagnostics. Everything is automated to the point that even the employees themselves aren't able to answer any questions. Same goes for the customer service reps you can reach by phone. At this particular location, they go out of their way to make sure you never have a chance to speak to anyone. When they take a customer in, they purposely shut the door as quickly as possible so that you can't get a word in. They have a reception window but it's covered up. In order to cut payroll costs, they've eliminated the front desk position. As if this company isn't making enough money, they had to eliminate any and all customer service employees to save the $20-30/hr. Remember that Quest gets paid $2,500+ for each appointment. There are 3-4 ppl here tops running these draws and it's a very small office space where I can't imagine the rent is that high. They are doing 9-10 appointment per hour minimum. That's $25,000 PER HOUR. I really hope there is a mistake within their scheduling system that results in some sort of catastrophic situation resulting in a major lawsuit. It's unfortunate the lab that is most convenient to me to use is the most inept when it comes to customer service. I'm guessing the corporate decision makes are pleased as punch over how they have automated their service and cut labor costs. IMHO they have automated so much, if there are any glitches in rescheduling a test, there is NO ONE TO TALK TO, and office in my neighborhood has closed off the area where customers could speak to a live person. When I called my doctor's office, they gave me a number to an office where they had a human connection. I called it, and got the exact same recording I had gotten from the one in my own neighborhood. I tried a few different offices and had the same experience. I ended up calling my doctor again, and asked for another lab. THANK GOD FOR LAB CORPS. Their site was easy to navigate, and provided a phone number to call to speak to a live person in real time, if I had any issues, which I did not. When I went to have the work done, I checked in by phone, waited until my appointment time, and decided to go into the office. There were a dozen or so empty chairs, and two PEOPLE behind the counter. I explained what I needed, they took my insurance card and order, and poof! I was done in ten minutes. I never find the experience of going to Quest for lab work pleasant. Their main staff woman is always rude and unhelpful, and the office itself is grungy. Today, I had an afternoon appointment scheduled, but was out running an errand nearby (and didn't think I could fast until afternoon) so called to see if I could just walk-in. The phone message welcomes walk-ins. The sign on the door outside their office welcomes walk-ins. Their sign in machine (No more receptionist - just a little kiosk machine) allows for walk-ins to sign in. However, there's no mechanism on the sign in process to change an appointment time, or to sign up as a walk-in if you have an appointment, so I knocked on the door several times with no response. Only when someone was exiting was I able to hold it open to kindly ask how I could add myself to the walk-in list. The woman sharply barked that they don't allow walk-ins! I said there were only two other people in the waiting room so perhaps I could wait? "No. No walk-ins. You can only keep your appointment. You need to leave". False advertisement hardly seems to be a good way to run a business and if this woman is the lone representative of the business - good luck. People deserve to be treated even slightly better when they're using your business. Never again. read more

I was the only person in the waiting room (no appointment) and only waited a few minutes, which was very nice. The phlebotomist was a robot, meaning, she never made eye contact with me or even looked at me until she grabbed my arm. Usually, I am asked which arm I prefer to use and am told what he/she is about to do. On my way out I realized it was lunch time and that's why the staff was all gone-strange there wasn't at least one person. The cleanliness of this office (my first visit) was very bad. The bathroom had paper all over the floor, but the worst issue was their doors. They were so grimy and dirty I didn't want to touch the knob. Disgusting. When I think about going to get my blood drawn I get a lot of anxiety, and I am sure I'm not the only one. I am not scared of the needles at all, however, my body has an uncontrollable response, and I tend to pass out, so I always ask to be laying down during the procedure. This was my first time going to this quest location, and I had a terrible experience. At first, I walk in and there is absolutely zero guidelines or protocols for COVID. There was no social distancing, no temperatures being taken, and the small office was completely packed!! There was also nothing wiped down or disinfected between each person getting their blood drawn!! This is absurd! I checked in at 9:10 for my 9:15 appointment and I still had to wait 20 minutes before I was taken back. Once I was taken back, I informed the phlebotomist that I had to be laying down. She then made me feel bad for not mentioning it to the lady at the front. I then had to switch rooms, and she then proceeded to make me feel awful for this "switch" that the 2 phlebotomist's had to do. While drawing my blood with the needle in me, knowing that I had anxiety because I had mentioned it to her, she said a FOURTH time "See, now she has to take all her things into the other room, it would be best for you to tell the lady up front next time." After I was finished, the phlebotomist literally handed me the 4 tubes of blood to check that my name was correct. They usually hold the tubes for me and I felt it was very weird to be handed the tubes for me to hold. She then asked me to sign my paper, then said "you're done" and walked out, leaving my in the room alone not knowing where to go, and again, not disinfecting the room!!
