I have been to this particular Laboratory few times over the years, However, this past 2 years I have been going to this lab a little more frequently than I used to. Nothing major or serious, just need to do blood count/drawn to maintain good health. Especially when you get to be a certain age. Yesterday, I went in at 4pm knowing that the last blood drawn was at 4:30pm and 30 minutes before their closing time. Whenever I have gone to this facility, I have NEVER had any bad, problems or issues with the staff. Whether it was dropping off a sample of urine/stool or drawing blood. Rosario drew my blood in less than 60 seconds. They are quick to admit, sign up is fast, quick like a morning/evening breeze, staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. By the time you want to sit down, they already text you and call your name to go in and get the work done. No complaints whatsoever. Bonus: close to my home!:-) Lab is BIG, CLEAN, with nice large windows and very bright inside. They are also quick to update your my chart/file by submitting your information on line. As we all know, certain responsibilities come with it. I need to pay $30 out of pocket for my copay. The remaining balance is handled by my insurance company. They have 2 bathrooms for men and for women with two stalls. Clean and sanitized. Underground parking with plenty of spaces and 2 elevators. That's all for now until my next visit. Busy mornings they're usually fully staffed. The phlebotomists are all great and I'm a hard stick with tiny veins, developed scar tissue because of only being able to use one arm for draw yet they manage to draw blood successfully every time. Their waiting room is big but there's also another waiting area outside the door (for another UCLA clinic) however if the waiting room for the lab is at capacity there are more seats outside. Parking lot can be a challenge. Limited parking can get full pretty quickly. There are usually parking attendants to guide you or let you know there's no spots left. read more

We recently had to go here to get a routine draw for my minor child that had been ordered by our pediatrician and I wanted to share my experience in case anyone is in the same boat trying to make this a speedy visit for themself or a child in order to get to school or work on time. - parking is free! The best part! - they open at 7:30. We first tried to go on Monday and arrived at 7:31 to find a packed waiting room with zero seats available and a line of people waiting to check in on the kiosk. We left. - we arrived the next day at 7:15 because I thought maybe the waiting room/check in opened earlier and it was just that services started at 7:30? Nope, the door was still locked but people had started to congregate outside the door in kind of a clump. - at some point, someone tipped me off that there's a small QR code near the door that you can scan that takes you to the same sign-in page as the kiosk inside. Once the clock hits 7:30, you can check in that way instead of through the kiosk. - If you have experience with parks and rec registration or checking in for Southwest flights exactly 24 hours before, you know what to do! There is also a Q-Less app you can use for check in (the location is BURL Burbank), as well as a phone number you can text. - we ultimately got our spot in the real queue once 7:30 rolled around. By 7:31 the waitlist had at least 20 people on it and by like 7:35 it was saying the wait time for new people was two hours. -Once they're up and running, it moves pretty quickly (faster than what the display screen says re: your personal wait time) but it took them until about 7:40 to start moving through the line. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things but I want to mention it so you can manage your expectations about how long the whole thing will take, in case you need to be somewhere after like we did. - the actual draw took under five minutes so that was great! Overall it was mostly smooth but I do wish the check-in/queuing process was a little clearer and fairer for everyone. The QR code was tiny and I definitely would have missed it and probably ended up at the end of the line if someone who had been there before and knew how it worked hadn't told me. If you're slow or have clumsy fingers, you'll be at a disadvantage come 7:30 and five seconds, so maybe download the app ahead of time and be ready to GO? If you google UCLA blood lab Burbank, the first website result does not have the info about the virtual waitlist, just hours and location. The second result has all the info, including links. I have a new doctor in the UCLA system so I decided to try this location as it was convenient. Initially, I was really dismayed because it was so crowded. Once I checked and they said my wait time would be one hour and seven minutes. But within 23 minutes, they called me, reviewed all the lab work necessary, went over all the instructions carefully, and then proceeded to do the most painless blood draw I've ever had. The results were available within 24 hours. My lab work was very complicated and I was daunted, but these people were careful to guide me through the steps appropriately. I saw a few other reviews that said that maybe the wait time was a little long, but I think it's worth it to stick it out because of the highly efficient phlebotomists and ease of navigation through the process. read more

My experience here was very disappointing! I honestly am shocked that UCLA lab is unprepared for a patient who has difficult veins to draw out of. It really was the first time that I go to a lab who don't carry hot packs. The plebotomist told me " you should wear long sleeve to keep your veins warm if you know you have an issue" I truly was hurt. I had never experienced that in my life. After the 3rd try she was successful, I had to heat up my veins! After all we are patients and we really don't need an attitude during difficult times. To the Lab...please make sure you restock THE heat pads AT ALL TIMES!! read more

This might be the worst lab in the entire UCLA network. Go anywhere else if you can. Seriously, anywhere. The wait times are outrageous. You might have to wait up to an hour for a simple blood draw. There is not enough room to wait and so people end up packing the hall outside waiting. There is also only one restroom. Which is shared by THE ENTIRE FLOOR (not just the lab). So you may have to wait if you need to use the restroom to collect your sample. The front desk person is not very polite, is generally unhelpful, and does not do a good job of helping the lab run efficiently. The lab techs are all professional, but they are also very slow. I understand you need to be meticulous in this kind of work, but they do not move with any urgency at all. Seriously, every other UCLA Lab I have been to is better than this one. read more

Good news everybody (as Prof Farnsworth would say on Futurama) !! This office has CLOSED -- thats right.. the phleb office on Alameda St has CLOSED -- YEAH YEAH YEAH!! 5 stars because it CLOSED!! The Riverside Toluca Lake office is worthy of the 5 stars though. I went to the Alameda office this morning.. perpared to wait and pay for parking. I got there and went to the 3rd floor and that office door was LOCKED.. L. O. C. K. E. D. and a pamphlet outlining other offices taped to the door. No sign no nothing. I went here once before and it was a long wait w/few people working there. Anywhoo.. I went to the UCLA Urology office right next door and the kind receptionist directed me to their phleb office on Riverside/Toluca Lake office. My parking ticket didn't charge me!!! The gate opened ASAP.. I was only there for about 5 mins. Anyway.. I drove to the RIverside UCLA office... and it looks new-ish. I guess it was recently refurbished and closed beforehand? (reading comments below). Well.. it's open and nice and no parking fees and like 4 stations. When I went there a little bit ago.. they had like 3 phlebotimists working. 3 people were ahead of me but the wait was only 15 min. read more

Im upset that UCLA Toluca Lake no longer does lab orders, because now I have to go here if my rheumatologist puts in an order. Sounds convenient since they are in the same building, but the technician who drew my blood basically pierced right through me. They complimented my veins and said I had a good one, and then proceeded to go right through it (I guess). He add to keep angling the needle to get a good draw. It hurt so bad, and I continue to have elbow nerve pain almost a week after the appointment. I have attached a picture to show the bruising on both sides of my elbow. Things happen, but they felt a bit over confident and that's what led to this poor experience. read more

My appointment at the location near Santa Monica was canceled but I only needed to do a PSA test. It was nice to be able to go to a location much closer to home. I checked in and only waited a few minutes. The guy that took the sample did it in like 1 minute. Really fast. I don't think I've ever had a blood test that fast. read more

I had to go to the UCLA Health Clinic Lab this morning as the UCLA health clinic has closed down their lab (don't know why). I got to the lab around 9:30 a.m. The place was packed. There is a very small waiting area and the 4 seats were taken and there were 3 people standing. There were about 8 people lined up in the hall waiting to go in. I do not understand why this UCLA lab is so small. UCLA can certainly afford a bigger space. Come on UCLA what is up? The bright side of this is Rosalia. Rosalia was the front desk person dealing with everyone coming in. Registering for your appointment is really easy. The wait time was not TOO bad. The bright spot in this whole thing is Rosalia. She was kind and professional at the front desk. BUT wasn't I surprised when she was the one that came into the room I was sitting in waiting to get my blood drawn. ROSALIA! If there is anyone of any authority at UCLA that is reading this PLEASE acknowledge Rosalia. Thank you Rosalia for your kindness and professionalism! And she did this all with a smile. read more

With the recent low reviews I was worried I'd have trouble getting labs done before work this morning. I showed up about 20 minutes before 8 and there were already a few patients in line. As soon as it hit 8, the first 4 people were let inside and Kenneth (the only employee) had us checked in and going right away. Didn't wait more than 10 minutes after that. Given the staffing restraints and the influx of patients with recent closings, it's clear they are doing the best they can. I was honestly surprised with how quick and organized it was once more people started showing up after me. Go a little early if you're trying to get in before work, and you'll be just fine. This is a very easy location to get to, it's small but efficient and the folks there are always friendly and welcoming. Parking is available on the street you just may need to circle a few times and walk a few blocks. I do think they may have paid parking on site but I have never thought it worth it as I have never waited longer than 5 minutes to get my labs completed. read more

I started coming here even though it's a bit of a drive from me because I trust UCLA and have always received excellent care from them. This place is no different. I have to get blood drawn once a month, and I struggle with fainting at times. They are always super kind and understanding about letting me lie down, and every phlebotomist I've had has been talented and I've barely felt a thing! Special shout out to Eddie, who was quick, efficient, and I hardly felt the needle at all. It's so nice to have bloodwork not be a big deal! read more

I had great experiences here until I started coming in contact with Javier. I have a disability that requires me to lie down during bloodwork or I will faint. The first time I went in, Javier gave me so much grief about it I had to have my doctor put a formal note in my chart. I went back again and he gave me grief about it yet again, told me I don't need to, when I insisted he called 3 other people ahead of me and made me wait even longer in what felt like a punishment. When I finally got him back to help me he told me I was sitting too far away because I was lying down. I said if I got closer I'd have to put the chair in a seated position and I need to lie down. He goes "well if you get dizzy then we can lie you down but I've drawn you before and you didn't get dizzy." THAT'S BECAUSE I WAS LYING DOWN? Are you really that arrogant to believe there aren't any conditions you don't know about or aren't the expert in, that maybe the patient knows their own body better than you? How does it even inconvenience him for me to lie down? I've never in my 18 years of getting bloodwork had this issue. I left in tears and wasted my entire day driving 30 minutes to Burbank because I falsely thought UCLA's customer service was worth the commute. I want him to know I will be filing a formal grievance to UCLA Health for discrimination based on disability. He should not be working in patient care. read more

The office manager Kelly at UCLA Health is very non-professional, reads off a script, has an entitled attitude and ignores your questions. She finally called me at her convenience at 4:55pm on a Friday to go over details for my upcoming appointment with Dr Sriram V. Eleswarapu and when I tried to ask her a few questions she got an attitude right away like - how dare you interrupt my scripted sales lines. She basically told me my full coverage PPO insurance is worthless with their office and we will have to pay over a $1000 for a basic consultation! What a rip off! A $1000 just to sit and talk with the doctor? No way! She then tells me that this doesn't include any extras like labs or analysis. When I started asking her more detailed questions she got really upset and said I was being rude! Does she realize I am a patient and she's an employee who's job it is to help answer questions? Her boss needs to sit her down and bring her back to earth or find her a new job not answering the phones with patients because she is super rude and does not care about patients and it shows. read more
