I came in for a blood test today. They were a little behind on appointments, so I waited like 20 minutes. But my phlebotomist was amazing. I mentioned to her that there were a lot of negative reviews, so I was thankful for her kindness, and she said "Yeah, I can imagine a lot of it comes from walk-in's. And I feel bad they have to wait so long but we're required to take appointments first." It's as simple as this. If you are a walk in, there is 0 guarantee of when they can help you. Make. An. Appointment. It is not hard at all. Google the following "quest appointments". Click the first link, it takes 3 minutes, and will save you all this hassle. Also, keep in mind that the second one patient is done, another can't be called. The blood has to be stored, the space has to be cleaned, etc. If they are laughing and chatting with coworkers like so many of these frustrated comments say, then so be it. All in all. Make an appointment. You have no one but yourself to blame if you walked in expecting a 5 minute wait without an appointment. The nurses very clearly say "We're not sure. I've been going here for five years. As someone who has had trouble with lightheadedness/nausea after getting my blood drawn, it is the only local place I trust. The phlebotomists who work here have always treated me with kindness and are sympathetic to my concerns. Every phlebotomist I've had at this location has been very skilled. Many phlebotomists at other labs struggle to find my veins or have left me with extreme bruising on my arm. The phlebotomists at this Quest location are the opposite; they have never struggled to find a vein, and I have never had significant bruising after visiting this location. They are also polite, down-to-earth, and thorough in every interaction I've had with them. Make sure to make an appointment ahead of time using MyQuest, as they are usually busy. If you make an appointment, you can expect to be in and out in around 20-30 minutes, depending on how busy it is. It's also important to be familiar with the check-in procedure so you can avoid inconveniencing the staff and other patients. read more

The facility was filthy and the oldest nurse was rude by not listening to me when I handed her the paper of codes my doctor gave me to give her so it won't be a fortune in out-of-pocket expense. She refused to listen and kept talking over me nonchalantly to shut me up when I told her where to draw the blood due to nerve pain (it's not my first rodeo as I tend to get blood tests every 3-6 month, so I know which places hurt least and are easy to needle through). Normally, I've never had problems with nurses but THIS ONE a THIS LOCATION just couldn't give a fuck how she hurt me until she fucked up 3 times and needed another nurse to help her. What's even worse, she put on gloves to handle me and exposed the needle to begin and then fucked up and the bruise was quick to show, the. opened a gunky dirty drawer that looked like it had never been cleaned, handled other items then TOUCHED THE ACTUAL NEEDLE HEAD NO THE BUTTERFLY base where you're supposed to handle that type of needle, then let the needle rest on her belly which had stains that looked fresh then proceeded to jab me over and over again without apology... until she had a nurse help her. Mind you I kept calm and very still the entire time. I never showed my angry but I did show my annoyance and made it clear she should have been listening to me. And THEN the delightful bathroom situation for the urine sample... the bathroom had no paper towels, there were yellow and brown stains EVERYWHERE: all over the toilet, on the walls; the sink had suspicious gunk on it, especially, the faucet and the toilet paper roll holder, sanitary sheets for the toilets were out of their container and haphazardly tossed on a makeshift dirty sticky shelf/stand right next to the trash. No clean sanitized place to even place the urine cup samples. If. your a woman, you're juggling like a damn circus clown trying not to let your skin touch the toilet, holding the cup and clothes and somehow trying to wipe without spilling the cup everywhere because you have no available hands to cover he cup or to set it down to finish your business. read more

I recently had my blood drawn at this Quest Diagnostics center, and I was treated terribly by the phlebotomist. Her behavior was appalling, not only in person but on the phone when she called me later in the day. I wrote a review, detailing exactly what she said. In my opinion, my review adhered to Yelp's guidelines (which I checked). I did not give her last name, post her picture, exaggerate, or write hearsay. A few days later, I received an email saying that someone had complained about my review, and if I didn't update it, there might be legal ramifications. I find it unconscionable that I was the one who was wronged, and I am the one being censored. All I did was tell the truth. Every word of my review was true, and my freedom of speech and my ability to stand up for myself have been taken away from me. read more

Deceiving! Waited over 3 hours standby and ultimately did not get my blood drawn. Marci is a liar. 3 hours LATER says not taking walk ins although I have seen two be taken. The standby list has not moved despite those draws and therefore no idea when up next. Why say wait usually is 30-60 mins for standby!!!! Should tell us we are swamped go somewhere else. Drove 20 min to Thousand Oaks. Despite their computer system being down and more patients in waiting room than I saw at any point of the 3 hours I saw at Macaw, I was seen in 20 minutes!!! I would have given a 5-star review if there was a 0-5 minutes wait, and honestly the wait was not that long at all! My appointment was at 12:10 I checked in at 12:07 I was called by 12:20ish I was out by 12:29 My phlebotomist was Gisel--she deserves 20 million stars!!! I've been dubbed a hard-stick by all whom encounter me. And I've been a little traumatized by blood draws because I've had experiences with people thinking I'm dramatic, and not believing I'm THAT much of hard-stick. Others have poked and prodded to the point of bruises left behind. Or they'll blindly poke hoping for the best. I've been passed on from person to person--the most I've had was THREE people try maximum pokes at one sitting. But Gisel was a doll! She didn't poke until she had a vein she was confident enough in. As I walked out, I hollered to Lady (and entire waiting room ) "FYI you're the grumpiest person in America." My sons pediatrician called in stool testing for diarrhea. I had to go in to get a sample cup. I waited 40 MINUTES just to get the sample container. Then I had to go back and wait to drop it off. I'm still sitting here - so far 30 minutes. Why does anyone use this lab?? No quest lab in the Conejo valley had any appointments and I need this sent TODAY. I have no choice but to sit here and wait. Moreover I had to bring in frozen samples - guarantee they won't be frozen very long. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. There are 2 lab techs and they have back to back appointments every 10 minutes. They have no time to help walk ins. THE ABSOLUTE WORST LAB!!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

ELIZABETH IS THE BEST! I am a very difficult blood draw so going to the lab is stressful. The other Quest lab in Simi Valley was unable to successfully draw blood after three attempts so I decided to try this office. The appointment system is easy to follow and I didn't have to deal with a human until the lab tech called my name. The first tech made two attempts which were unsuccessful and then she called Elizabeth who did the job perfectly! Everyone was very nice here and both techs were fantastic read more

Out of all the Quest labs I have been to for lab draws - this location is by far the best!!! It makes it so convenient to be able to go on-line and schedule an appointment to get blood drawn. Checking in was a breeze. I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time and the lab tech was amazing!!! Her name is Ivonne and she provided outstanding customer service and her phlebotomy skills are impeccable. I am not an easy stick and she got it on the first attempt. I didn't even feel the needle going in. The parking is easy breezy. The whole experience was 10/10. read more

Had to deal with an incredibly rude and insensitive phlebotomist who apparently knows NOTHING about the services their clinic offers. My doctor sent us there (rather than PrimEx, which is our usual blood lab) because he said they were the ONLY clinic that performed the specific test he required. He assured us it would be no problem since he sends ALL of his patients there that require this specific test. After checking in (on a wall mounted iPad since there are no actual people there to check you in) and waiting almost two hours as a walk-in we were finally seen by someone who spoke with a thick, barely understandable eastern European accent who told us they do NOT test for what our doctor ordered. When we told her our doctor said that they DO, in fact, do this test she said she would have to contact her supervisor. When we asked how long that would take, she replied "hopefully in a couple of hours... maybe tomorrow and we should just wit in the waiting room in the meanwhile." WTF? This level of incompetence coupled with a complete disregard for the time and effort of their patients is unacceptable! read more

They have the bedside manner of a porcupine in heat. My wife went to get a blood test she walked in at 4:13 they close at 4:30 they say walk-ins welcome. They sent her away summarily after she waited and rather than being kind about not being able to accommodate her they basically said she shouldn't have come in and they chastised her for it and said come back when you can make an appointment she's already dealing with enough having to get tests for surgery they didn't need to have to add insult injury one would think that in the medical industry they would show some sensitivity and try to at least accommodate with kindness which seems to be sorely lacking in this establishment. I have to get blood draws very frequently and the Macaw Lane Quest is convenient to my house. I have to say there's one nurse there that is TERRIBLE at it. Like really, really, really terrible... and NOT getting any better. Like so terrible that when I see her looming in the doorway about to call my name, I consider bolting to my car, driving away at full speed until I get home, and weeping silently under my bed. I'm 6'2", 230... On some visits, she sticks me multiple times because she just sucks at drawing blood. Frequently, I'm left with a big bruise at the draw site. I get it... maybe this isn't the job for her. I know I wouldn't be great at doing it, so I don't. And to top it all off, did I mention she's rude AF? Like, seriously unfriendly. I told my spouse about this nurse and they said, "OMG! I know EXACTLY which nurse you are talking about!" Their experience was EXACTLY the same as mine... on MULTIPLE occasions. Unbelievable how corporate greed is spreading across America. I had to have my blood drawn on two separate occasions at quest diagnostics in Ojai California. In both instances there was absolutely no one at the counter. There was a self check in touch screen display that was having malfunctioning issues. There was probably 10 people sitting in the waiting room and a poor elderly woman was yelling for help into the hallway because the touchscreen was not working for her. I sat there for over 20 minutes and absolutely no one came to her assistance. On both occasions, when entering into the back room to have my blood drawn, I noticed that there was only one person working in the entire facility. Last time I came to this Quest location the technician was clearly new. She jabbed me twice unsuccessfully. I nearly fainted and had to lay down before I could try the blood draw again. On my next visit I was asking the tech about an ETA. I made an appointment and then went to the wrong location (that was 100% my fault). They called my name but there was someone else with the same first name. His was spelled different with a different last initial. I pointed it out and she said she was certain they had the right person. She then shut the door literally in my face! That's the part that made me most upset. I have been coming her for while to get blood drawn. Do not forget to bring your papers that have the order if not you will be there for a while. The lady that did my labs was nice and sweet. She let me watch a show on my phone and made sure that I was good to leave after. They are fast with getting your results back to you and there was not a huge line to wait in. UCLA was better in that they told me what was going to happen before it did. They had a nurse that came in and help me make it a ok thing as I hate needles. They also had a vibrating bee that I put on my arm for a few that made it way better. read more

Sometimes I can check in from the parking lot, super easy but I don't always get that option and no one at quest seems to know why. The new way they do things is absolutely AWFUL!!!! I have not been in there in a few years now. The contact less check-in is great, but when you walk in the tv screen, it states to have ID ready. My son did not have it, so I drove home and back to find he didn't need it. The lack of staff is terrible, and when I went to try and get him some water, I had to knock 4 times (hard) to get someone to come out. They let me back to get him water, and they were NOT busy at all. This was the worst service ever. read more

They both proceeded to hover over me as I put in my personal information. The employee was reaching over me to hit the buttons for me if I paused or hesitated at all. The tech knew who I was based on my pre-check in drivers license yet when I didn't reply to my name being called she removed my name from the checked list. The tech was very argumentative when called after I called her out. The tech had another tech take my sample which I bled unnecessarily, I'm not sure if this was a get even thing or not. This is a follow up message to my previous complaint. It was a bit difficult to reach the corporate office at Quest, regarding my issues, but I eventually did find a way. After sending corporate an email I received a quick response from Cindy Johnson saying that my issue would be forwarded to one of their district supervisors. I was also left a phone message and I ended up calling them back. The manager for this region was Ruben, who was quite helpful. He was responsive, apologetic and resolved my issue immediately. He also arranged for a young lady named Gisele to be at the location to take my sample. Both of them were quite pleasant to deal with. I guess this was an isolated incident and the particular employee in question, is now being given some guidance and education as to how to appropriately deal with patients. A good bedside manner is highly important in this kind of position and also the ability to give proper instructions. Again, I highly appreciate the superb service given by Cindy, Ruben and Giselle. This location is really good, I've been going here anytime I need bloodwork since I moved to simi. When I went in today, I received the same top notch care. I noticed the staff had to deal with a really rude customer.... I was irritated for the staff just overhearing this guy, but they were all calm, friendly and professional.
