On June 9, on the advice of our mechanic, we selected a "quick lube/oil changing station" to have the transmission fluid changed in our car, as our normal mechanic is not set up for the type of work we needed done. We selected Quick and Easy Car Care Center in Brooklyn. Cost: $79.99. We then immediately left town for the weekend. On Monday, June 13, upon arriving back in Sturgis from Chicago, we found the transmission fluid had leaked out of the car all over the garage floor. We had to have it towed to a mechanic there in Sturgis where, for $130.96, the damage was repaired and her car was made driveable again to where we could drive the 80 miles back home. On that day, I called Quick and Easy and explained what happened and asked for direction on how to proceed. They apologized and acknowledged they likely forgot to tighten the transmission fluid plug. That acknowledgment aligned with the Sturgis mechanic's findings on why the fluid leaked out. We were told to bring the car back with the Sturgis repair place's receipt and they'd "make things right." On Tuesday, June 14, we took the receipt and car to them, where they offered "four free oil changes" to cover the cost of the bill. I asked for credit/refund, as we had to use our grocery money to foot the repair bill. I was told they can't do that as employees (understandable) and that they would give the receipt to "the boss" when he came in around 1 p.m. Friday and "he WILL call you on this." A credit/refund for the $130.96 was what I was led to believe would happen. We're out the money; I need the money back.
Friday, June 17. Having heard nothing by the late afternoon, I called and was told the boss hadn't appeared yet, as he owns 5-6 businesses across the state and it's never known at what time he will be at any given place.
Week of June 20 - I call the lube place back and asked for the boss' contact information. I was told they have the message for the boss and he will call me when he gets in Friday, June 24.
June 24 - no call.
Thursday, June 30 - I call the lube place and after 6-7 rings, it goes to voicemail. I leave a message, explaining the situation and that I want a return phone call Friday, July 1 to resolve the issue so we can all move on.
As of July 3, neither further acknowledgment of our situation nor a phone call has been received. We cannot in good conscience return to the business.
Update: As of October 28, 2016, and after a couple followup calls with assurance the boss has our receipts and concerns and will call us, still nothing. read more
