So when the transmission started bumping between 1st and 2nd, I took it to Olathe Transmission for an opinion. They told me they could rebuild it and would guarantee the repair. I was torn about whether to put more money into a 17-year-old vehicle, but my affection for the car won the day. Less than a week later, it was repaired. The transmission shifts like it was brand new. With just over 200K miles, I figure it's good for at least another 150K, so I'll probably be gone before it is. This was not my first visit to Olathe Transmission. Several years ago, they recommended against trying to repair the transmission of a Civic, which had a chronic problem. They suggested I live with it, which I did, and it lasted a long time. Bottom line is: the folks at OTS can be trusted. Thanks, OTS, for enabling me to continue to enjoy driving my Lincoln.

The car from a stop acted as if it had a racing stall converter. It would hesitate while revving up to 700 rpm then it would take off. Eventually throwing out errors triggering the Check Engine light. I know that wasn't normal, but Mike, the proprietor kept the car another week, and then told me that he couldn't find anything wrong. I took the car back to him 5 more times within his 12 mo. 12K mile warranty (what a joke). He didn't care this is a car my teenaged daughter was now driving, because he kept clearing the error codes and telling me that the transmission he rebuilt was fine. It was a complete waste of money. Stay far away from this shop. If he can't figure out a problem, he'll brush you off.

The strangest repair that we had done was fixing a side view mirror that had been knocked off by a kamikaze raven in New Mexico. Our insurance agent thought that it would cost several hundred dollars to repair. I am sure that it would have at any other garage. Tim used his knowledge of cars, creativity, and the existing mirror to effect a great repair. The mirror works perfectly! They ship out damaged transmission, and get them repaired at their repair facility. This shop just remove and re install transmissions. AAMCO rebuilt 4 Speed transmission will set you back $4,400 , with taxes. A simple diagnosis? A whopping $280 plus. Way too expensive for hard working Americans. I took my truck to Cottman Transmisdion , Shawnee , KS and got my transmission fixed for $2,500 .Almost Half the price.
