Truly, I think it's because the job done was sub-par and on purpose to get my vulnerable and naive self back into their shop. I have spent $3000+ here and will never get it back unless I get a lawyer which I'm highly considering. When I got my fuel injectors done, I immediately had a problem with the engine starting. I took it in for diagnostics and they charged me 160 dollars for them to just look at it. Nothing seemed wrong to their technicians and I was told that it was fine and would level itself out. It did not. I went back again and they said that I needed a small part that I could replace myself easily. I did and still the problem didn't go away. Dave asked me why I hadn't come back and the reason is because he has led me on and bled me dry every time I just had someone look at it. I really thought that Dave was a nice guy and I trusted him but once I had spent $300+ on diagnostics alone, my faith was shaken. Today, my engine didn't start. I called Dave and he basically said that he didn't want to work with me anymore and GOOD LUCK. I was angry on the phone and I guess they say being nice goes a long way, so this was definitely my bad. I am very disappointed in Dave and the scam he runs as a business and I hope he doesn't do this to his daughter. The calls are recorded and I am talking to a lawyer because the other shop I went to charged me nothing. For such a "good" reputation, B+L auto seems to be a sham and I do not suggest you going in to this shop ever unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you want to feed the dollar signs in Dave's eyes. I have taken my car no where else. My Honda had 142,000 miles on it when the transmission light went on. I figured it was a sensor, as the fluid looked good and it would be early for a Honda to have a transmission problem. None the less, I towed my car to Honda. They told me it would be more than $10,000 to replace the transmission. I could not believe it. Its my 4th Honda, and if you take care of them, they take care of you. I talked to the folks in service and they assured me that I needed a new transmission. This was devastating news as my car is worth about $10,000. So basically my car was totalled. I decided to call around and the reviews were good for Gateway. They said they could replace the transmission for $7000 something. Still brutal, but better than $10,000. After they looked at the car, they called right away to say it was a "switch" and they called Honda. Honda had the part. They got the part FROM Honda, fixed it an hour and my TOTAL BILL WAS $247. Absolute honest people. SAVED me. Unfortunately, I thought Honda had my back, and I will never go there again. Additionally I PAID Honda for that false diagnosis. Take your car to Gateway!! On the report they claimed my whole brake system was severely rusted, dust shields were leaving very large holes, brake fluid was green and that my master cylinder was failing. Quoted me almost 3000 dollars to replace everything. Told me to not leave for the roadtrip until work was done as it was a severe safety hazard. Obviously, I was worried and stressed, that's a lot of money and I needed to get home. When I came in to pick up my car 3 men were at the front desk. All told me that it was incredibly unsafe and my brakes could go out if I tried to get it home AFTER I had said that I don't have the money to fix it quite yet and I would call back when I'm ready to get the work done. It felt a little like manipulation and trying to scare me into getting the work done. I should also mention I am a woman, and a young college student. I went to get a second opinion, took it to another local mechanic, he told me the calipers looked fine, brake fluid was a little dirty but nowhere near green in color, and my master cylinder was not failing. I can't help but feel a little taken advantage of as a young woman bringing in my car alone to get looked at.
