We needed a smog done on short notice--I did a quick Yelp inquiry, the shop owners/staff messaged back quickly, and the next morning we dropped in. Went in Saturday morning--the (covering) technician was courteous, friendly, and professional all around, and we didn't feel intimidated as maybe you would at other shops. The technician (we didn't catch his name) was also very transparent, as he advised us on searching how to properly "drive cycle" our vehicle in order to reset the monitors after the first smog attempt read: "monitors not ready" -- DRIVE CYCLE? Yes, we learned something new that day! We prepared our vehicle to sit overnight, then did the drive cycle early Sunday morning right before returning to All Star Smog for the retest. Same technician was there and helped us out right at 9am. He also gave us a friendly recommendation for additional DMV services that we needed to complete. We all know that car services can most of the time be dreadful, but I can say that this was my best ever smog experience, between CA and NV. Thank you, All Star Smog!

On my first visit, I waited in line only to be told the computer systems were down. One month later same thing happened after waitinh in line not to mention I took time off work, drove 20 miles, and waited again -- only to be informed that the systems were down for the entire day, with no estimated time for resolution. In today's environment, it's reasonable to expect some form of communication, whether through a website update or alert, before customers take time off and travel to the office. A simple notification could prevent a great deal of inconvenience. Additionally, a more professional and empathetic approach from staff would make a difficult situation easier to accept. I hope the DMV can improve both its communication and customer experience moving forward.

After filling out all my info on their computer I was told to scan a barcode at the entrance which failed to work. Again I wait to speak to an employee. Finally after the guy at the window couldn't scan for an appointment #, he gave me one. The wait thereafter was only about 15 minutes. I was there a total of 1 hour due to lack of direction by staff. Napa DMV is still faster than other towns. PS...I tried previously to schedule an appt, but their website is as difficult to navigate as their office.

I paid my auto insurance and renters insurance on december 3, 2025. Sonoma office had a new girl, I had a hunch she would make a mistake. I paid her the full amount due for both and gave her my stubs for both bills. She had been there for 1 week. She sure did make a mistake. They scammed me out of $70.00! I cannot find my reciept which they were supposed to staple it to both stubs on the back. I was sent a notice from AAA that my renters is lapsing after paying them, the office Mayra told me I could pay them again! I was furious, its Christmas time and they not only took my payment Dec 3, they lied to me and would not even research this to hold the new girl accountable. They kept my $70.00 for renters and I met with the snarky manager who said we would have been over book in our drawer that day, hmm they did not even check, he told me bye bye and to leave his office because I was so mad! I drove 40 min. Each way in traffic because of the new girl's mistake! Unreal hell! I told a couple on the way out, do NOT do business with these people they scam people out of their money, the manager ran to the door opened it and said dont listen to this person, come inside! Wow what a cover up! Do NOT do business with any AAA the corporate has done this to me before too and Folsom office is really vile! They lie and will raise your rates if they dont like you.
