The service is excellent! Jeff puts the same care that Stu put into his client's cars. They wont rip you off, and they try to get to the root of the problem in the most cost effective way for the client. Jeff had my car for over 24 hours after my car died three times on my way home from work. After running tests, he asked if he could keep it overnight so he could drive it around town and see what was wrong. He said it might be an ignition switch and spent a lot of time on the phone with Honda. After finding out that the switch would cost $500, he decided to look at other options. He turned the car on and off several times, and my car did something that made him think it was the battery. He said "let's start with the battery. It's the most cost effective route." That battery has been in my car for five months now and I haven't had any issues! What service! And all for the cost of a battery. My family has been going here for years and I plan to continue doing business here for years to come. 04.18.12 - Updated My car died again in December. I took it back to Jeff's. After doing some research, Jeff discovered that there was a recall on my car for the ignition switch. He told me to take it to Honda and they would take care of it for $0.00. Four months later, my car hasn't died, and I have a new ignition switch at no cost to myself. Another example of why Jeff's 76 on Napa St. totally rocks!

The technician (we didn't catch his name) was also very transparent, as he advised us on searching how to properly "drive cycle" our vehicle in order to reset the monitors after the first smog attempt read: "monitors not ready" -- DRIVE CYCLE? Yes, we learned something new that day! We prepared our vehicle to sit overnight, then did the drive cycle early Sunday morning right before returning to All Star Smog for the retest. Same technician was there and helped us out right at 9am. He also gave us a friendly recommendation for additional DMV services that we needed to complete. We all know that car services can most of the time be dreadful, but I can say that this was my best ever smog experience, between CA and NV. Thank you, All Star Smog!

He's the consummate professional, excellent work ethic, and absolutely knowledgeable and competent. Eran is so awesome and accommodating. He seems ready and eager to work for & with you, and he made himself available as best he could with me. Even though it's clear from his website the area range he covers, and that he's open to go even further (for, in my opinion a small additional charge), he went extra far for me; and furthermore he's always ready seemingly at a moments notice (which won't always be the case, of course, but shows that as long as he's available, he'll jump to work with you [reflective of how awesome service & work ethic he has])! The extra (again, for an small [IMO] additional charge) he was wonderful in considering for me was even as far as a used car dealership in Roseville! Just FYI, for him Gilroy is too far (haha, had to try, because he's awesome and I was desperate for the car, so for him to). And he works hard to make it that his customers don't have to do anything additional, and that he'll take care of it all -- he doesn't expect you to meet him there (although you have the option; he offered/was-open for me to be there to do it with him, but since the dealerships were like 40+ miles out, I opted not to), or to meet with him beforehand, or even afterward; you can correspond and coordinate just text and/or phone. If anything, you just might have to call the dealership and give them a heads up (telling them the time and Eran's name & business). He goes out, takes the car for about an hour, and checks everything. But beyond that (and what I mean about excellent work ethic and consummate professional) is that he documents it all (photos on top of his notes), and he goes in, around, and even under the car and looks at all the nook and cranny of all the car parts & aspects. He took plenty of photos of anything remarkable of the car (dents, paint deterioration, oil/grease stains [underhood of the car], interior issues, etc.). He has a whole form with a checklist that checks ranging from fluids to condition of belts to lights working to hoses to condition of the tires & brakes and the rest; even takes note if there's a spare tire & wheel jack. Of course he hooks up his OBD tool to check for any codes. Then he sends you the report with all of his findings, gives you a call to talk it all over and he gives his impression, then you send payment -- he's really cool about payment and states "however you want to pay"; Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, Cash, Check, whatever. He gave me the impression that I wanted him to be my own mechanic; so I even asked him. And it's a credit to him to have replied that, to keep professionalism and can't claim exploitation, he doesn't do both (PPI and mechanic). He is on the high end of what you might estim8 ($180; more if you send him outside his normal area/range [I don't believe more than $200]), but I was happy to spend that on him. I'm a novice with cars (general knowledge enough, but not enough to be able to identify whether car parts are in good order and/or would last or not), so I wasn't confident in my ability to buy my first used car. I used him twice (would have been three times, but Gilroy was too far away). In the end, the used car I got has worked great for the last 6 months. And he saved me from buying an amazing car (high end Hyundai; $3k) but in such under-the-hood horrible shape that it would've been 3x the cost of the price just to repair everything -- which is proven when I saw the listing remain for 2 whole months and priced reduced twice down to I believe $2800! After it all, I brought my used car to 2 mechanics after him, and they confirmed 4 out of the 6 concerns he had -- which, granted, it's not like Eran has a car lift and a whole lot of time to thoroughly check as much as a mechanic with a garage would. He mistook cosmetic blemishes on the serpentine belt and the brakes as old age and maybe needing to be replaced -- which didn't end up being the case. But he did get the transmission deficiencies, signs on a certain valve gasket, parking brake, and other aspects right on the mark. I can't say good enough things about him! I was only able to feel confident enough to buy the really old used car that was in my budget because of him. And it's been nothing but a success! 6 months later, after taking care of the issues and potential concerns Eran noted, the car has not given any problems (that could have been foreseen; it still is a really old car so some things are bound to have come up organically) -- proving how much Eran and SafeBuy is really stellar and impeccable! If you're not the best with cars, you can absolutely trust Eran and SafeBuy; as much as you can trust his willingness, commitment, integrity, experience.

I called Wednesday thanksgiving eve they took me in right away, I had no appointment which was not required I decided to come to this shop because the first time I received exceptional customer service, Also to add the on top this time they had a great thanksgiving special going which was $55.00 for my 2011 Toyota Prius! (Sucks that people have to smog their electric hybrids) overall Service was excellent which is definitely hard to find especially for a female that knows nothing about . This place has seriously changed the way I think about a stupid Smog check. They have revolutionized the process of a smog check and I'll always come back here. Called for a smog was told no appointment necessary so I got there at 12:10pm (my lunch break) my car passed and I pulled out of there literally at 12:23pm.. Fastest smog in my life will definitely be back to this spot when my wife's car needs the smog. I recommend this place advertise better and probably wouldn't be able to keep up. I needed to get a smog check on my wife's 2012 Prius this morning. I was referred to Family Auto Services (Gabe's Auto Care Center) from a colleague at the office and was able to stop into the shop the same day. Ali offered to stop what he was doing to conduct the smog test which only took about 30 minutes. Ali and his colleagues were not only knowledgeable about my wife's vehicle and the smog process, but very nice and welcoming. Great service, great staff and a great experience! read more

This is a great smog shop. The owners are very good reliable and fair. I lost contact with the business after they moved but I'm glad I found them again and would recommend anyone here. I've had small work done here and there, but mostly smog's over the years and have never had an issue with results. Turnaround is also pretty quick, which is nice if you are waiting around, but there are other things to do in the area that are a short walk away. All and all, a great shop that I have recommended to many over the years.
