Upbeat lively darkish fun place to be for a dinner. It's cozy but loud, sounds like a concert and looks like a bar. Dim red lights shine on your food while a band rocks out at the front. Surprisingly their food doesn't really match the atmosphere but it's ok. We got the fried chicken, ramen and bibimbap. Not expecting much we were pleasantly surprised. The pork belly was cooked to perfection so much so, I had to tell the cooks in the back on our way out how good it was. Ramen had creamy flavorful broth and the fried chicken was ok... made better by the dipping sauce it came with. Quinn's makes an excellent bowl of ramen. And seems to be back up and running and firing on all cylinders. The veggie ramen is loaded with sesame goodness, and even though the egg is not runny (sad!) it still lends a ton of richness to the bowl. And then you top it with some fried tofu...I mean, this is what I'm talking about. If you've not been inside Quinn's, you're up for a pretty wild retro fusion experience. I mean, don't expect to be able to see what you're eating, at least not in a normal color and definitely not at full brightness! I haven't hung out for live music, but I imagine it gets pretty raucous - it is a small space. And oh yeah, it is loaded to the gills with Beacon hipsters so make sure to grow out your 'stache and wear your flatbilled ironic baseball cap, you'll fit right in! read more

First off, I love how people are on their high horse about NY standards, um hello Beacon is in New York last time i checked? Anyway, this place was a hidden gem. I will say upon first walking in there I had no idea what to expect but when you friend has a craving for ramen you don't stand in their way. The space reminded me of like a converted 1970's Italian restaurant. The lighting is dark and sensual and has a red glow about it which makes your initial walk in a kind of WTF moment. The only the only type of seating available are vinyl clad booths with vintage stained glass lamps hanging over every table. I really like to think that this space is exactly how it was 40 years ago except now instead of slinging spaghetti they are doing made to order ramen. We were seated promptly and as we ordered drinks our waiter was giving us super helpful suggestions and letting us know which beers were local and dropping some brewery knowledge which I appreciated. We ended up ordering Tako-Taki (octopus dumplings) and a chicken steamed bun to share, and for my main I ordered the Soy Ramen with the Charshu pork. Apps come out and bonito flakes were dancing in the wind on top of these little dumplings. They were not at all what I was expecting they were even better! They were crunchy on the outside and so silky smooth on the inside. It was such a great contrast of textures and flavors with all the components that came on top of it, I highly recommend you try it. Being brave pays off I promise...in this case at least. The chicken bun which we ordered as our safe stand by was very meh. The bun itself was nice and chewy with a billowy soft pillow like consistency, but the filling left little us unimpressed. It was over sauced with what tasted like very sweet BBQ sauce and had crunchy noodles on it that were neither here nor there for flavor. But wait, then the ramen comes out and it is glorious. A big ass bowl of luscious, brothy goodness with golden noodles swimming about and the most gorgeous piece of pork sitting pretty on top. I loved it, honestly writing about it now makes me sad that I am an hour and half away from it. The broth was flavorful and the noodles were the perfect texture with just the slightest bit of chew that I enjoy personally. The pork was insane, it had this awesome char on the outside and it was fall apart tender inside. Next time I order it (and by god will there be a next time) I am definitely going to get two pieces of pork because I will need to take one with me as a delicious delicious souvenir. read more

A casual Japanese bar on Main St, Beacon. The only other place I found that serves Japanese food around my area. I have been craving ramen since my time in California and finding places that serve ramen well is rare(except if you are willing to travel to get it). I got the miso ramen and it was very bland. Sure the portion size was good and the price is decent but that was all it had going for it. Even the chashu pork, a mainstay for tonkatsu ramen (which they don't have), was pretty mediocre at best. I also had a few apps as well; Kara-age, which is fried chicken. Takoyaki, which was mostly dough and did not have a lot of octopus. And shrimp katsu, which is fried shrimp. All the apps were decent as well. Nothing too new to write about. As for dessert, I had the Tai-Yaki. It was pretty good but also underwhelming. Overall, If you want Japanese ramen without traveling too far and you want it cheap, Quinn's is for you. I will point out that I have never tried authentic ramen before so I am basing it on what I have experienced so far. read more

I spent a night in Beacon over the holidays and my Air b'n'b hosts recommended Quinn's as a fun place to grab dinner. I was in luck because it was Soul Night, and the place was very lively and full of locals. I opted to sit at the bar because I was in the mood to be social but there are plenty of booths for group dining. Service at the bar was prompt and friendly. I had the ramen and a side order of a fried chicken appetizer. The ramen was good, filling for a cold night, and I kicked it up by adding chili oil. I also had the drink special of the night, a Mai Tai. It was really good, not too sweet and not too boozy. Quinn's seems like a solid option for a casual dinner/drinks or make a night of it and come when there's live music. read more

Quinn's surpassed my expectations in every way. From the outside, it seems just like any other dive-bar. When you walk inside, you feel like you've stepped into a time capsule and have been transported to late 80s hipster town (in a good way). The restaurant is casually decorated with interesting murals and wallpapers and mismatched furniture. The waiters and waitresses are sporting buzz cuts, tattoos and ponytails. Just the right amount of eclectic vibes. As a vegetarian, it's sometimes hard to not only find a veggie ramen, but a good-tasting one is near impossible mission. Almost always they fall flat in flavor. Quinn's veggie ramen (which we had served hot instead of cold) was AMAZING. Just the right amount of salt, spice and tang. The BF ordered a Q-bowl with tofu and was raving about it. We each ordered beers recommended by the waiter and were not disappointed. read more

My friend and I took a break from the city to Beacon for a weekend trip. We had marked Quinn's as one of the stops for our beer tour. However, one of the nights we did not have a place for dinner and decided to try Quinn's. I saw they are in known for ramen but was not in the mood for that so my we both got their bowls, which were just the most delicious yet super healthy things ever. My kimchi bowl had tofu, egg, rice, and veggies so the texture was perfect, and the flavor was on point. Quinn's ramen is so on point im actually salivating just imagining that savory, umami goodness, mmmm!! It is rather dark and chill vibey inside hence why most of the photos posted on here you can barely tell what is going on. They often have live music and I'm seeing now that I missed Balkan music night back in Nov.. damn I hope they do that again soon! This place is known for its ramen & eastern asian/art deco vibe. It's an interesting concept to have a ramen restaurant in a divey bar with live music but it somehow works. The ramen was fine. Broth wasn't very impressive, they charged extra for the pork belly (which was delicious) and the bowl was very large. We got fried shrimp appetizer which was delicious, wish they gave you more per serving. They have delicious seasonal cocktails. I had a sparkling yuzu sake cocktail, highly recommend. The price is a little expensive if you're going to sit down and order food but for drinks it's fine. I would only go back to have drinks or see a show. The food was really underwhelming. read more

I would come here again when I'm in town. I've eaten at a few places around Main Street and this was the most off beat and tasty. It seems to be a quirky old diner/bar they renovated. The noodles were quite good. Service was great. They really seem to dig their jobs here. The whole ambience was chill and fun. I had the octopus fritters(is that what they're called?) and a pork ramen. Both were quite tasty. It's pretty good considering I don't recall seeing anyone Japanese in the place. Good beer, too! The ramen was not necessarily bad but it was nothing to rave about. In fact, I would probably give the ramen 1.5-2 stars had the atmosphere not have been so great. The ramen noodles were not fresh and the broth was pretty simple. I could easily get much better ramen back home in NYC. The broth didn't have that umami flavor to it. However, the egg was marinated pretty well. I also really enjoyed the salmon onigiri (it came more like a hand roll than an onigiri). The yuzu sauce and the pickled veg (not sure what it was exactly) in it paired very well. Their karaage was pretty good. Not the best but it was good, better than most "bar food" you'd get. So if you're looking for a cool bar with good food, this place will do the trick. If you're looking for a great Japanese restaurant, this might not be the best place. A lot of mixed feelings towards Quinn's. It has a very specific atmosphere - dark, interesting, relaxed, something old-fashioned about it. I love the decor & booths. We ordered: -pork buns -takoyaki -miso ramen -chashu donburi The best part of all dishes was the pork: well cooked, perfectly seasoned & sauced. The buns were pretty good, but overpriced IMO ($5 for 1.. most places, even in NYC, will sell them @ 2/$8). The ramen broth was VERY bland, and my husband and I prefer a rich pork-y broth. We realize that it's not a traditional ramen broth, and that's fine, but it still wasn't great. The noodles, however, were excellent & springy. Donburi was good, but extremely salty towards the end as the rice soaked up the sauce. Their house-made kimchi tasted very pickled & sour, which I appreciated, but I would've preferred much more spice to it. Quinn's has a decent drink menu. We were CONSTANTLY swatting at fruit flies. Disappointed by what Quinns has become. I used to come here often but the quality of the bands and service has declined over the years. The final straw was the female bartender with the black hair and undercut refusing to sell me more than one beer at a time. How embarrassing to have to go back to my group and make them come up to the bar with me, only to be ignored for another 10 minutes. Quinn's was in one word, okay. I enjoyed the ambiance, and the lighting. I couldn't help but think though that the lighting was a mask to cover the grittiness. There was a dank smell when we sat down that only went away when our food arrived. I ordered the pork bun, sake, and Hot Miso Ramen. The pork bun was very good. The ramen was decent. It was not worth the wait nor the hype, and if this place existed closer to my home, I would probably not go back. The biggest problem in the place is the service. We waited almost an hour for all of our food. I don't think they're set up for a large crowd or a "kitchen stress test". Ramen can't be made to order. It would have to be made that day and it takes almost half a day to make it so that's not the problem. Whoever is managing the place needs to step up a bit. If you are vegan, this place is paradise. If you like a pretty good soup, and don't mind waiting for an hour to get it. I've had better, and I wish it was better. read more

Very disappointed how things change. Service was abysmal and rude. On a previous visit, over a year ago, the person I dined with was told by our waiter to "get a life." This past weekend, after waiting several minutes, the bartender asked how I was and was about to take my order when I accidentally tipped over an untended drink. I felt horrible about this mistake and the bartender did all she could to make me feel worse. She immediately stopped serving me and attended to other customers as well as telling another service person what happened. He came over to clean up. He also was very rude. After another several minutes elapsed with no attempt to serve me, I decided I was not welcome here. I have been many times over several years. I like the space, I liked when it was a diner, and I like it as a live music venue. After being made to feel so inferior by so many of the staff, I will never return. I can't comment on the music aspect of this place, just the food. Pork chashu was too sweet, and the bowl of ramen didn't have enough broth. This, coupled with the $19 price of the ramen ($14 for the noodles, $5 for the pork as an add-on) put Quinn's at a price point higher than the more popular ramen restaurants in the city. Maybe I'd go back for the live music, but not for the food. Way too expensive for what it was with far more viable options close by. read more

Love how it is a Japanese Resturant but very much looks like an old diner from the 50s. So the atmosphere comes off very chill. I just moved to Beacon after living in NYC for 25 years and people like that reviewer Victoria X is the reason I left. If you want to eat Ippudo, stay in the city and wait in that long ass line. Quinn's is terrific. I've enjoyed every meal I've had there. The food is great, the staff are friendly, and Monday night jazz nights are phenomenal. And I've never liked jazz. Came here for dinner with my wife on a Tuesday. We were able to find a booth immediately, despite being pretty busy. Our server was great, both attentive and friendly. The vibe was super laid back. Dark and cozy on a chilly evening. There was even a band jamming out to some jazz and blues. Very nice ambiance. We ordered the edamame and pork belly buns to start. Edamame was salted perfectly and the buns were very tasty although quite small. We both got the spicy veggie ramen with kimchi and it came out hot and fast. All in all this is a very nice gem in a sweet and quaint town. Would definitely come back if we were in the area again. read more

We saw the ramen sign in the window one evening and came back a few days later to give it a try. We got there and the music was loud and couldn't hear what the hostess was telling us. After we sat we realized it was that Unfortunately they no longer make ramen. We were told it may be available certain days depending on staffing. More than half of their menu we viewed online is currently no longer available. If you wanted to come here to try something specific make sure you give them a call before you head on down. We love Quinn's!!! Sometimes even having it three times a week. We crave it, it's so good. Even Our friends from the city are obsessed, often making a stop before the long drive back down. I don't get the bad reviews, must be smug jerks, we've always had excellent service. We love that the owner decided to keep the decor of the original Quinn's when it was a diner. Everything is good. The ramen knocks your socks off, I always get miso ramen and add pork. We used to go to ippudo all the time when they brought it to nyc so we were glad Quinn's was yummy,l. The pork is always so tender it melts in your mouth. We also always have the buns and sometimes the fried chicken. Everything is so good. And if you can't finish and take it home, it's just as good the next day. The history of Quinn's is just as bad ass and the music is always awesome. Viva Quinn's!!! read more

From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside is an experience. Last time I visited there was a girl singing, playing guitar, AND tap dancing at the same time! Went to Quinn's for first time last night. Really enjoyed it's funky vibe. I felt like I was on Avenue B, so meaning gritty, in an old NOT refurbished diner in NYC...cool crowd, music, hip wait staff. The margaritas were KICK ASS!!! Did not expect this place to be so amazing looking at it from the outside. Every ramen selection is so good but personally my favorite is the spicy ramen. Their udon soup is SO delicious. OVER PRICED!! Where do I begin? Started off with a male waiter thinking he was doing us a favor and taking our order. Preserved the pork belly naps, at $5 for one! Seriously. I've been a mama Foucault which is top notch and the East Village and they aren't even that pricey. It was ok, we came here and inside was hotter then the noodles with NO A/C! Was there on 4/8/17. Enjoyed the food but the service was terrible. Waiter seemed cool at first but after he took our order we never saw him again. We finished the food and sat with empty glasses for 20 mins. We could have easily doubled our tab in refills. Finally had to go to the bar and ask for someone to bring us a check. A very annoyed blonde girl showed up to take the payment and didn't even apologize. UPDATE: Went there again. While the service was a little better (mainly because it was very slow that night I guess) every beer we ordered in a can was lukewarm (there were a total of 8 beers ordered between the 6 of us, all in cans, all warm). Because of this, changing my 2 stars to 1 star. How hard is it to keep your damn beer cold??! read more
