We ordered shrimp katsu appetizer or whatever it's called literally just 3 small tiny shrimp lollipops. Their entrees are a little better. But the food is average, nothing to rave about. I could probably make it better at home if I had the ingredients and time lol. Some of their ramen taste like ocean water...i was underwhelmed every time. 6/5 is more accurate BUTTTTTTT, I'll settle for 5/5. We got lucky here on a Monday at 7:30pm. Their LIVE Jazz starts at 8:30 on every 1st Mondays of the Month from what I understand. They did amazing, I wish I could have recorded the entirety of that raw talent Great prices, the quality of food was AMAZING!!!! 6/5 like I said. We had their Kara Age Fried Chicken which was perfectly crispy and the spicy mayo HIT perfectly. The potato croquettes were crispy and perfectly smooth on the inside. The DUMPINGS!!! Omg the dumpings could send you to another planet. Then.....the entrees.....Potato Croquette Hotdog....OMG.....get the hotdog and the croquette together, let it rock your mouth....TRUST THE BIG GUY!!!! The service at this place sucks. The bartenders are the worst I've ever encountered. The ramen was like hot dishwater. Cool spot on Beacon Main St. with good Japanese food, funky diner feel and live jazz. 4 of us went in around 7:30pm on a Monday night. The front was full but there were plenty of seats in the back so we were seated right away. It's a comfortable place that feels like a diner, which it apparently is or was. We ordered a selection of items to share. - Steamed buns - only one per order, a bit steep for $6 and makes it difficult/expensive to share. I thought the chashu pork was pretty dry and needed more sauce. - Goma Ae - very unusual dish with broccoli (roasted?) in a black sesame sauce that we found pretty nondescript. Least favorite of our group. - Takoyaki - another very interesting dish of octopus dumplings. The texture is very mushy and not obviously octopus. The breading and sauce were delicious. - Kimchee dog - self-explanatory and very good One of our party ordered Tonkotsu Chashu Miso Ramen. He said it was very good. We caught the very end of the jazz music, which sounded good, and contributed to the interesting vibe of Japanese soul food in a dinner. The service was fast and friendly. This place is super cute! I enjoyed the attentive, ease of ordering and service! I sat at the bar, and two different servers checked on me and made sure I was good! I got the takoyaki. I wouldn't order it again, as three pieces I ate were missing octopus. Covered in mayo and sauce. Just not the best takoyaki. I also got the Miso Chasu ramen! It was nice! All the toppings were great, especially the egg! The cause was a super chunky moist piece! I loved that! The noodles were lackluster. The broth was decent! A solid bowl of ramen! Imagine a 1950's diner that serves Japanese small plates and drinks as you jam to some very good live music, and you have this weirdly likable place called Quinn's. What an enjoyable evening we had hanging out here! The 2 bands we heard while sipping on beers in our booth were rocking and fun. The food is interesting, to say the least. The steamed buns were tasty bites, and Choco Manaka (ice cream sandwich) was yummy, though the waffle crust was a little soggy. The mochi ice hits the spot, but it is messy to eat. (Photos are not great, because the lighting in here is weirdly orange.) The wait staff is attentive and fun to talk to. Can't wait to come back when in Beacon again! read more

This was my first time back to Quinn's since 2018. Had a good experience then and again today. When you first walk in there's a sign saying to seat yourself. I had these Mushroom Steamed Buns in addition to Veggie Ramen with Fried Tofu, both of which were fantastic. Aside from food the service was good and efficient! The lighting however is heavy on the reddish orange side and it was slightly hard to read the menu. Maybe I just have sensitive eyes, but it definitely hurt my eyes. Divey little restaurant with Japanese ramen fare. We had the ramen with chashu, the noodles were nice and chewy. They also give you a lot of noodles so you'll be full. The takoyaki and the karaage were pretty standard. My friend had the blackberry cannibal to drink it it was so unique, it is labeled as "smoothie sour with blackberry" and it is in the best way possible. I would describe Quinn's as Japanese diner food, which to be clear is factually incorrect. (It turns out I don't know even how to pronounce "karaage".) This is a good shorthand for it though -- savory, filling, unassuming, and somehow still playful on the palate like a Miyazaki movie. What really surprised me is deciding to head back to Quinn's just two days later. My companion and I had taken a look at a few places on Main Street when she said "I just want something cool and relaxing right now". So off we went. Because Quinn's is literally a comfy old American diner inside, just with moody lighting and a spectacular collection of beer and cider on offer. This local bar was a fun time while I was in town. Me and some friends had a round of drinks and were entertained by the karaoke. The var was busy late night in a Thursday. However, we had no problem getting drinks. I believe there is food as well, but we had already eaten prior to arrival. Prices were very reasonable. You may miss it on the street as the unassuming storefront looks as if it's been closed since 1994. But if you do find this gem you'll pass through two red velvet curtains and into what apparently was an old Chinese restaurant-bar newly stocked with hope and a talented staff. Mostly Gen x, y and z with a smattering of 40-50 something's the clientele was drawn there for "Art Night." (No pun intended). Basically, every Tuesday night most everyone was pleasantly chatting and drawing on paper, envelopes, art blocks and iPads. Definitely love the vibe here, a good ramen bar, with a modern urban feel. Service was very quick here, barely ordered and in less than 10 minutes I got my ramen and shrimp. Also the service I feel was nice in sense they pleasant and no rush to decide plus give recommendations. Shrimp katsu was yummy, I enjoyed the fact the shrimp was flattened, so got it in one bite rather than just getting breading. Spicy mayo dip was good, could be more spicy though. Now the ramen, first chashu, was very thick, no thin slices here they don't hold flavor. Noodles themselves were fresh and just the right level of chew. My most part was the broth, usually places don't do rich broths and water them down. But here, the broth was rich it felt like a warm stew constancy wise. I was sipping it up, I enjoyed it so well, you can tell with broth they love the craft and it shows. Am glad I have new favorite ramen spot to replace the one that was lost in NYC. read more

It was pretty busy when we came so we probably got seated in about 15 minutes, the place was clean, and the service was on point. The food portion sizes are good but depending On your hunger level I suggest get a few things, I got the plain dogs w/ relish & Sauerkraut I'm not a huge hot dog fan but these were slapping! lol I'm going to say it was because I had it as a compliment to my edamame & purple sweet potato fries. Surprised by this place. The writing by the door was a clue that there was a Japanese person involved with this restaurant, despite the name "Quinn". My wife recognized that the person was likely a woman by the way the characters were written. Anyway, the interior was dimly lit, and more sake or cocktail bar centered feel with tables for eating, rather than an izakaya style place. There was live experimental electronic music playing (which I didn't realize was live until later)..You seat yourself, and I was hesitant at first to stay and eat but ended up glad we did. The menu was simple but with appealing Japanese pub type food, so we went heavy appetizers. My wife was drawn into the restaurant by the purple sweet potato fries, but she also ordered her other favorites, takoyaki and karaage. I ordered a chashu donburi, and standard sausage, which was a special. Everything was very good, except the amount of sauce on the takoyaki. It tasted good except they were really soaked with takoyaki sauce and was not evenly balanced with mayo. I other words much less takoyaki sauce and a little more mayo for the right balance. But that was really the only complaint. Karaage was hot and very good. Sweet potato fries were very nice, and my rice bowl was pretty satisfying, 2 thick pieces of chashu. The sausages were standard smoked sausages with strong Japanese style mustard sauce, with a heavy horseradish bite. More so than my wife, I appreciate the music component. Places like this can really keep a music scene and creativity going. We're only in town for a couple days so I don't know if we'll be back, but I would definitely want to return if the opportunity arose. They are open late, so it is a possibility. After we were seated, it took about an hour between when we ordered and when the food came. Even after our food arrived, it took an additional 15 minutes before the server came back to give us utensils. The food was equally disappointing. Oh my goodness, where do I even begin. By NY standards, this place cannot even be called a ramen spot; only because we have so many other options to compare to. By town of Beacon standards, I can see why this would be so highly raved about since it's the only ramen spot in town. Walking in I knew I was not going into a traditional ramen place, but instead a hipster ramen spot so I already set my expectations very low. I've been to hipster ramen spots in the city, and although I was never wow'd by it, it wasn't as bad as it could've been. After a long day walking the town in the cold I just wanted some ramen soup to warm myself up. I was not prepared for what was about to unfold. We ordered the purple yam fries with curry sauce (this had flavor, but it tasted like the curry packets from the Asian markets), and this was pretty good, but the fries were just fried in flour (not panko bread crumbs or any Japanese bread crumb). I ordered the miso ramen ($12), no char siu added, and my boyfriend ordered the curry ramen ($13). I've never tasted a broth more bland in my life - the ramen broth is the key component to a ramen dish so where's the hours of flavor simmered into the broth?? And to my surprise, my broth had just a smidge more flavor than the curry broth .... what.... It was seriously a disappointment when I realized that a pack of Nissin instant ramen had more flavor than this $12 bowl of ramen. We also asked for a side of hot sauce and the waiter said he'll bring over some gochujang...homeboy brought over sambal. Now I have no problem with receiving sambal instead of gochujang but did you really think I wouldn't notice? I'm Asian, and these sauces are a staple of my diet. Also, the sambal container was definitely left open for extended periods of time because it developed a really sour/tart taste to it. I did finish my dish because I was hungry and I was paying a city's price for a bowl of ramen, but it was not worth the money at all. Oh, also, you guys charged me for char siu when I didn't order any. Quin's is back, bay bee! The full menu is live. The dim sum was sufficiently fermented and the curry was Currific (I made that word up to describe the goodliness). You know when you're eating healthy and decide to treat yourself to a nice bowl of ramen? Well, don't go here. We've been here a few times over the years, and it's definitely not the same. The pork buns have the smallest amount of pork and mainly taste of mayonnaise. Gross. We also got the miso ramen. The broth was just not good. The flavor was odd. They don't have many add ons to choose from, so I just got what it came with. They cut up a bunch of seaweed and placed it in a pile on top, so it basically made the broth taste as such. Not good. Honestly, there was nothing good about this experience except my lovely date and the water. The ambiance is shot as well. It is VERY dimly lit. At first, it might seem like a decent vibe, but if you look around, I'm pretty sure the low lighting is strategically done so customers won't notice the old and dirty building.
