We just went back to Quinn's for the first time since the COVID outbreak . The food was good and the sever was very pleasant. But they have added a covering (burlap?) to the railing that surrounds the patio. It made our stay very disappointing as it blocks the view of both the estuary and the city. The covering also blocked the breeze and made the patio very hot. We have been going to Quinn's for years and found the environment very enjoyable. My coworkers and I went here for happy hour. I honestly didn't hear about this place until someone suggested it and I was surprised at how adorable the place is. It's right by the water so I suggest bringing a jacket. This place has 2 floors. With our big party, we decided to sit upstairs. The staff was very quick to serve us. More people ended up coming with nowhere to sit but the servers were kind enough to quickly get us more seats and more space. Happy hour was great. I only presented a few beers but my friends said their appetizers were good too. I definitely want to come back to try more of their food. read more

Great little historical spot just minutes away from the coliseum. We decided to stay downstairs for dinner but 6pm is happy hour upstairs bar/pub. The restaurant was good service( James) good food and good beer. We did not have resos. but we were early enough that it did not matter. We did this before a Hillsong concert at the coliseum so never felt crunched for time to get across the highway.The same if you were early to the airport Some dishes are a little pricey but good seafood. Came in for clam chowder. It was great! They have very good chowder. But that's were it ends. We ordered fish (beyond bland and totally flavorless) and chips. We also ordered the fried chicken breast (same as fish as stated above) with mashed potatoes (same as fish and chicken) and mixed veggies (that were as cold as a witch's tit!). Our server was new and as fast as molasses rolling down a ski lift. She also forgot our water, napkins, utinsels and didn't clean our table. She was very sweet but professionally inept, uncoordinated and reaches across your nose - this is just NOT her career path to serve others. First time I went, food tasted great, drinks were yummy, I ordered a second drink, 20min in and I started feeling nauseous and went to the bathroom. Then, came running back to the table and we had to leave a $12 drink on the table untouched and a $20 meal nearly untouched. I threw up in the parking lot outside. I said nothing and did nothing because I am extremely susceptible to stomach viruses and really thought the food tasted good and liked the view. There was also only one server and one host and the host tried to take our order then forgot and we sat alone for 40 min. We did come back because I really wanted to like this place. My partner accidentally reserved an open table spot at the wrong restaurant and we were turned away. I will never go back. The waitstaff was friendly and efficient and I bet the booze and beer are fine but I unfortunately ordered a hamburger and was not there to drink. I took my seven year old daughter with me thinking we might have a nice view. The patio is walled in with plywood painted green and white- not much to see. The burger on the menu is supposedly 10 ounces 'made daily.' Ours was no bigger than a burger at Nations and with cheese costs 18 dollars before tax. It was the most gristly burger I've had in a long time. Unappetizing. The tomato on it was the end cut where the tomato breaks off from the vine- complete with inedibly hard parts of the vine. A bar with 8 or so people with no masks makes me not want to visit again. I know Covid is a hoax but I have a friend who has Hoax 19 and it's killing him. Sad. read more

We've been coming here for years for late lunch and drinks. It's as to be expected, a laid back place near the boat slips. All the food is mediocre and the drinks are super strong. Service is slow, but we come here mostly to just spend time..... I recommend hanging out on the patio. You can eat peanuts and throw the shells on the floor. This is a lovely little building . . . inside and out. We had good service today. The food was just ok. No peanut shells on the floor so the ambiance is quite different. We didn't like that they blocked the view of the water on the back patio . It WAS such a nice place to sit and see whats going on. I did NOT like my pepper steak sandwich at all. It had big slices of cheese on it that was not melted. The meat was leftover. Tim liked his sandwich and Christy said her Quinn burger was "ok." The food and ambiance was fantastic, however for a not so busy Thursday lunch (there were maybe five tables of perhaps 20 available occupied in the upstairs), the server was rushed and rude. My older friend and I were instructed to seat ourselves on the deck upstairs. This was confusing for her as she had been prior and there had been a host. After asking the bartender we navigated our way to a beautiful spot, seated ourselves and were promptly given two glasses of ice water and menus without asking. So far so good, but didn't even have a second to request that one be without ice and a straw since the server just dropped it off and seemed to want to disappear. The server reappeared within a few minutes but seemed rushed and annoyed with us since we had not had a chance to fully read the multi-page menu or decide what we wanted (we had been seated for maybe 4 minutes). I mentioned we would please prefer a water without ice and a straw and quickly asked for a beer that on the menu that was no longer available, so chose a different one. The server then left without asking my friend what she wanted. When he returned with my drink, I apologized profusely for having to ask him to make another trip but mentioned he hadn't taken her drink order (a coffee) so requested a coffee for her along with honey since she can't have sugar. He continued to seem annoyed and rushed, but returned with her coffee, at which point we hurriedly ordered - she initially planned to order a rather pricey salmon sandwich, however he said she had had that before (I was not with her when that may have happened). I asked about the tarter sauce as she usually doesn't like too much may and he mentioned they can put it on the side, but then ordered a club sandwich and I ordered the clams. He seemed further annoyed when asking if she preferred turkey or chicken and she couldn't hear what he had mumbled, so asked him to repeat himself, at which point she promptly responded with chicken. Our food came out quickly and was quite tasty. I had gotten clams and the server seemed peeved when I ordered and asked if it came with bread. Apparently there's sourdough, garlic or parmesan options but he already seemed exasperated so I just took the first one. Her sandwich also looked and she enjoyed it. Food 5 stars, Manager (maybe also the bartender?) 5 stars, Server negative 2 stars. He was remarkably rude and rushed us from our first drink order. He had no patience when my companion asked him to repeat questions he had (not so clearly) mumbled so as to ensure he wouldn't have to make extra trips. He got visibly exasperated when she asked questions and all but ignored her. We tried to engage him, asking his name and quickly introducing ourselves, but unfortunately that was to no avail and his service was rude, All we wanted was her honey for her coffee and her mayo on the side of her sandwich - no substitutions or anything - but he was abrupt, and dismissive of her and her requests. My friend never asks for much, and we go out to eat a lot - but no server has ever been so rude. I got a shot of tequila (solid pour) tipped him 20%, and we promptly left. I get that older patrons sometimes need servers to speak more loudly/clearly and occasionally must ask servers to repeat themselves if they don't immediately understand but I don't think that's too much to ask. Contrasting this against the wonderful servers who helped us at Beach Chalet, Grand Lake Kitchen, Broadway Terrace Cafe, Kitchen Story, Gyu-Kaku, Starbucks, Noah's Bagels, etc. - we are lucky to be able to eat out a lot, but we will not be eating at Quinn's again. read more

Just when I thought I couldn't love this place more, I tired their house-made clam chowder. It is absolutely incredible. It was delicious! Raul was our waiter again and of course, he was amazing as always. He was tentative, very professional, and polite. He offered insight on the menu. We've been here a few times and have had mixed experiences. The first two times were great! Once was before COVID and the second was during. Both times the ambiance was great, the bar and patio upstairs are such a cool vibe and the food was great! But the third time we went, this March, was disappointing. The food was just ok- I had the tuna melt and it wasn't great. I ended up taking most of it home and then tossing it, unfortunately. They had also put up a plywood barrier around the patio so that you couldn't enjoy the views of the water. It was very weird and unsightly. I'm sure we'll be back to give them another try. My friends and I were looking for a place to go for dinner after an A's game and one of my friends recommended this place. I had never been there before and was surprised that I had never heard about it. We sat out on the deck which was nice with the warm day and beautiful sunset. They served us peanuts that my friend's daughter loved to eat. I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and it was pretty good. I just don't think it was worth almost $17 dollars for. Gayle and I came here yesterday for Lunch. We were experiencing a little cabin fever at home and decided to hop in the car and do a little exploration around greater Oakland. Quinn's Lighthouse was easy enough to find among the cute little red cabins and the surrounding marina and boat repair facilities. The upstairs pub was a little too dark, crowded, and peanut-y for us, so we chose the lighter, brighter, and more roomy main floor for our late lunch. My fish and chips order was just OK, but Gayle's cioppino (adult tomato soup) was excellent. Quinn's also has an extensive rose selection on their wine list, and our dry french selection went well with our menu choices. I would have normally chosen beer with a fish and chips order. However, I wasn't all that impressed with their draft beer selection, I really enjoy a good dry rose, and ordering a full bottle is a better value than paying for wine by the glass. This is another one of those places that my Midwest parents would enjoy. The lighthouse structure is authentic, the the wood decor is appropriate (and complete with somewhat kitchy touches), the dining room is comfortable and with a good view of the water, the service is good (including being visible and invisible at the right times), it's easy to have a conversation, and the menu is diverse and overall, a pretty good value. read more

We went with a group on a random Monday afternoon and sat in the 2nd floor dining area of this converted house perched on the Oakland estuary. The bartenders happily whipped up some strawberry daquiris, poured some beer from the tap, and for me...popped a mini bottle of Mumm's. Not because I'm special, but because I was so impressed they had $11 splits of bubbly that I just had to order one. It was the classiest thing on the menu, for sure. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which consisted of a melange of fried foods: fried zucchini, calamari, prawns & chicken wings. Obviously, you come here for drinks and bar food, not to be wowed by top-notch cuisine. The old wood floors were covered in peanuts, just like the rumors promised. GROSS, gross and more gross. I was really hoping this place would at least be ok but left extremely disappointed. Since I've never been there before it didn't occur to me that I had to go up to the bar level since I was dining alone... In fact I found it quite odd and rude that they would not allow me to be seated in the dining room due that fact. Once I found my way up to the bar seating, I waited about 20 minutes before anyone greeted me or even offered a menu... Being that it is bar seating I do generally anticipate a delay on service which isn't a huge deal. What really got me was that two gentlemen sat down after me (table next to me) were greeted and given menus within minutes, while the waitress passed by me like I wasn't there. I even tried to get her attention. After I finally ordered it took another 25-30 minutes for my burger and fries to come. It was cold and soggy. I ordered avocado on my burger, which was rotting and stringy placed directly on my burger... So gross. I would have sent it back but the waitress never came back until she was dropping the receipt. I just removed it and ate around its touch points. So over this time, I received no water refill or check-in's. I'd say the overall I spent an 1.5 hours there and spent 20 minutes with actual food in front of me. By the time I got the check, I was just ready to go and chose to just pay instead of trying to get my money back. My burger after tip cost $24... Such BS. Never again. Never. IMPORTANT- Walk up the stairs, I've never ever been into the dining area when you walk in, we always hit the bar, bar area, or patio UPSTAIRS..... 1) Go on a sunny Sunday afternoon for the Brunch Menu. Hell, it's sunny on the Sunday following Thanksgiving, only in California : ) 2) Make sure James is your waiter, this guy is quick, polite, and professional. 3)Have one person get the eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce on the side ( trust me ) and have the other person get the garlic burger. ( you could even get the garlic burger with the lean buffalo meat, but sometimes it's good not to be so high maintenance) 4) Order your favorite beverage and soak in the sun.( I got the bloody mary this time which was decent, but check out the beer menu, it's very impressive. ) 5) Share the plates, dip the the fries into the hollandaise sauce.
