Quinta Steakhouse is a place I hadn't been to in years after a previous meal that wasn't very pleasant. Some neighbors who go often convinced us to give it another try during one of their five-course tasting nights with wine pairings. The theme was Argentina, and the evening included a variety of wines -- Chardonnay, Cabernet, Malbecs, and a sparkling wine -- paired with each course. These weren't just small pours either. Glasses were filled and refilled throughout the night, which really elevated the experience. The food lineup included shrimp ceviche, mini chorizo empanadas, flank steak, a loin lamb chop, and flan. Overall, everything was tasty. The ceviche had a nice acidity, the flank steak was tender with a good amount of pink, and the lamb chop had a great char. The flan was also a standout to finish the meal. The only miss for us was the empanadas, which didn't have much filling. At one point the front door was opened to let some air in, but it also brought in smoke from outside. Once I mentioned it, the owner closed it and that took care of the issue. Overall, a very enjoyable night and a big turnaround from our last visit. Happy to be back and would absolutely return for another tasting night. read more

This place is a slightly upscale Portuguese Steakhouse but very mellow all around. The menu offers tons of choices but the obvious choice is always steak and red wine. Have been here a handful of times and can't say I've ever had even close to a bad experience with the food or service. Bonus points for actually having Sam Adams Boston Lager unlike the majority of restaurants in the tristate area. read more

My parents and I were looking for a restaurant to eat and we thought why not give it a try. Inside is quite cozy, we were greeted immediately by our server. To start we order two lobster bisque, it was lovely and rich. I order the branzio with the veggie risotto, it was full of flavor and delicious. My dad ordered the seafood paella and it arrived in a casserole, he loved it. Mom order the spicy chicken with fresh fries. Portion was big but she said it was flavorful and delicious and fries were cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. Service was great. read more

I enjoy going to Quinta Steakhouse. So far, I've gone yearly for my nephew's birthday party. We have a pretty big party of about 14 guests and the owner / waitstaff are very accommodating. They are very patient when it takes us a little time to order. I'm sure it also helps that it is not very crowded at that time. I like the atmosphere of Quinta, the hardwood floors, the super high ceilings, and the windows that look into the kitchen. They have an excellent Prix Fixe lunch menu. You can get a soup or salad, a meal, and then coffee or tea. This past visit I had the tomato / zucchini soup, the turkey club, and a coffee. The tomato / zucchini soup was very light and very delicious. The turkey club definitely hit the spot and was a nice generous sized portion. For dessert, my sister in law always brings a birthday cake for my nephew. The waitstaff brought it out, sang happy birthday, and plated the cake so beautifully. They even added a raspberry drizzle to the plate to "fancy" it up. It was very nice. And of course the cup of coffee with the slice of cake hit the spot. I've wanted to try this place for a while. Finally did! Food was pretty tasty. We had the octopus app (came out cool instead of hot) but was excellent. Garlic shrimp was pretty good too. I had a steak - cooked to the perfect temp. He has the paella and he said he loved it. For dessert we split the creme brûlée. Probably the best I've ever had. read more

Overall **** I didn't go into this with high expectations but my son and I were having a boys night out and once my son read that they claim to have the best fries in Rockland County he was all in. They get 4 Stars from me for a friendly, comfortable environment, very good food at good prices. We will most definitely return. They have a few different hot sauces which I of course had to try but as a warning if you go for the little black bottle go easy with it or pay the price like I did! Setting **** A corner location on the main drag with plenty of street parking and a municipal lot just down the side street. There are only four, two top, outdoor tables which I suspect go pretty fast. The street is very busy during the weekdays with cars and buses so I wouldn't think it is all that enjoyable to sit out there. Inside the restaurant has tall ceilings, hardwood floors and white tablecloths, I did not see much booth seating in case that is your thing. There is a wall facing bar when you walk in that seats about 10 so on a busy night (they say Saturday's are the busiest) that area I would expect to get very crowded. On a early Friday evening it wasn't overly busy. We were alone at the bar, the outside seats full while inside it was about a third full. Most of the customers appeared to be well dressed 50+ groups out on the town. One downside is the single use bathrooms. Service **** We were warmly greeted by the owner who stopped by several times to check on us and the rest of the staff while not overly friendly were enjoyable and seem to work well together. Food **** We started with the Chorizo Empanadas which were fresh, light and tasty although I prefer a more "charred" flavor to my sausage. Two, perfectly Medium Rare N.Y. Strips with fries were next up and although, like the Empanadas, I prefer a more "charred" flavor and they could have used a bit more seasoning the steaks themselves were ridiculously tender and delicious. They say on the menu that they have the best fries in Rockland County and it may be possible. They are made fresh in house and were super crispy outside and pillowy soft inside. Like the steaks though a stronger touch of Kosher salt would put them over the top. Value **** The entire menu seemed very reasonable to me and steaks of that quality for $29 was pretty darn good. While not a true bargain we really did enjoy ourselves to the point that even someone as frugal as myself didn't care so much about the bill. read more

Not bad. I would likely come back, but... ... they sorely need a second entry door in the winter to slow the entry of cold air. It's a pretty busy place with parties of 3 or 4 or more, so that door is opened frequently, and for 10 seconds at a time. Pretty painful when you're sitting where they put us. I liked the Lobster Bisque, just wish they included some little pieces of lobster. There were none. The bread is good, if your server remembers to bring it to the table. Ours did not until management noticed it. Their use of a manager here is greatly appreciated and earned them the 4th star in my case. The risotto was REALLY good. We loved it. The Pulpo (octopus) was OK...a little dry for me but nicely seasoned and the chick peas with it were great. I heard the Four Lamb Chops were good. I had a French Fry... it was OK. Wish I could have tried the lamb. Looked terrific. Good mashed potatoes. The Garlic Sauteed Shrimp were good too. They should check the bathrooms periodically. The owner of this restaurant is Portuguese, and in addition to the steakhouse menu, a lot of Portuguese dishes are offered there. While most of the customers seem to be ordering steaks, we have been going there for years for the Portuguese cuisine. Those dishes are always very tasty and well-seasoned, made very spicy per our request. Among our favorite entrees is the Mariscada, in red or green sauce, which is a real treat for seafood lovers. The Quinta Paella is also excellent and is large enough to feed two diners. Good wines are available--we always get a Portuguese Alvarinho. Service is attentive. read more

Been coming here for many years. Last night, was my last time. For $38, I ordered a rib eye steak which was literally half fat. I was able to cut maybe 8 bite sized pieces from the steak. My friend ordered the strip steak which was no better. Hubby ordered paella which had a chicken drumstick added to it. Also ordered iced tea which was packed to the top with ice and they charged for refills! They cut corners anyway they can to squeeze every last cent out of the customer. I frankly do not understand the negative comments which have been given by several of the other reviewers. I have been coming here with both my family and business acquaintances for years for both lunch (the bargain of the century!) and dinner. The food and service are both consistently excellent. I always have the sangria with my meals, which is utterly delicious. The service is attentive, rapid, and the waiters soon learn your preferences and cater to them. Armando always asks after our granddaughter and has a warm, personal touch. I highly recommend La Quinta, whether it is steak or fish that you crave. The desserts are superb too. read more

Last minute decision to have steak not too far from home. Wife wasn't feeling great. Two of us were able to walk into a busy Quinta and snag a table. We started with a perfectly fried rendition of cod fritters that was served with an aioli and small pile of greens. Next we shared their charcuterie plate. It was a special for the night and quite a surprise to find in the area. There were toast points, two pieces of sliced meat, cornichons, mustard, greens, duck terrine, ham terrine and a liver terrine that reminded my wife of deviled ham. I would highly recommend trying it if it shows up as a special again. Wife had a perfectly cooked filet mignon with bearnaise sauce (extra $) and I enjoyed my medium rare ribeye. We were seated and it took about 15 minutes for a server to get to our table to take our drinks. Our orders were taken as if the server was being forced to do his job. Not once during the entire meal did he or the rest of the staff come by to check on us. The food was alright but after the service i would never go back there. I love Quinta Steakhouse. It is a great steakhouse on the cute streets of Pearl River, NY. I have been here for dinner with my family but normally come here with my coworkers for lunch. It is the perfect quick but still professional workstop lunch place. It would be perfect for a lunch meeting or a client lunch, but my coworkers and I come all the time because of the great service and food. They have a great lunch deal for $10 you get a soup or salad, a meal, and coffee. And the meals are good! I am talking about salmon, filet of sol, steak.... it is the best $10 you will spend for a excellent lunch! read more

I've been here about 5 times and never had a disappointing meal. Their Red Sangria is very fresh and delicious. I usually order a pitcher. For appetizers I've tried their "Sexy olives" - house cured olives, garlic orange chili, and olive oil. It tastes amazing especially when you pick the cheeses to go with it! I could eat that for dinner! Their grilled Portuguese sausage is very delicious, fresh, and tasting. It is cooked perfectly every time. I've had both the shrimp cocktail and shrimp al ajillo appetizers; and as always the shrimp is fresh and never overcooked. I've tried many of their steaks and I enjoyed all of them. Ribeye, filet, and porterhouse are my favorite. It goes amazing with the peppercorn sauce (you have options) and steak fries they serve you. My second favorite dish which I ordered last night was the Shrimp Al La Plancha. It's 5 jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, garlic, rosemary, and lemon. It is also with mashed potatoes and green beans. A must try! Their rice pudding and creme brûlée is the best! The only reason I give it 4 stars is because 3 out of 5 times I've been there, I've had the same male waiter and although he's never rude, he isn't friendly, very quick, speaks too fast, and very monotone. I have gone to the Thai restaurant next door for years, and have talked about going to La Quinta for as long as I can remember. Today, wifey dearest said, "I want steak". Being a typical guy, I was thrilled. Except, with a choice of overpriced and fair at best steak houses all over Bergen County, and no reservations at Peter Lugers, La Quinta popped into my head (or more accurately, that steak place in Pearl River, whatever was its name again?). So, my wife, myself and our friends braved the ride over the border to La Quinta, and we were more than pleased. We ordered three appetizers: pecan encrusted baked Brie, cod fritters, and vegetable terrine. All were good to excellent, though I am told the terrine was a bit salty(veggies at a steak house were not getting down my esophagus). For the main dish, I had a hangar steak special, my wife had the on menu hangar steak and our friends both had seafood paella. All of us thought the portion sizes were right, the food was delicious and the service was very good. To be honest, I could almost give the restaurant five stars, but I just could not put it in the same class as Peter Lugers. On a dollar for dollar basis though, it is arguably a five. If it was a ten point scale, it was easily a nine. I will be coming back. read more

We were very disappointed with our dinner. When we arrived at this relatively small restaurant, we literally stood in the front at the door for almost 5 minutes before the host who I believe was the owner greeted us. The Caesar salad was good, fresh, flavorful and a good portion. We sent the clam chowder back as there were no clams, no flavor, just seemed like vegetable soup out of the can. And the steaks were fair at best. For almost $30 a steak, I expect something a tad thicker and more flavorful. I don't think they used one pinch of salt . The service was good, not great. Never did the waiter come back to fill our wine glasses with the pitcher of Sangria on the table. But the biggest reason I won't return is because the food is at best, mediocre. read more
