Upon arriving we were greeted by a gentleman who wasn't very accommodating. Pros: Food, drinks, service from our waiter. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of menu and provided amazing service! Cons: Not accommodating, not baby friendly, no high chairs, just big kid boosters. Food was delicious. We started off with the trio appetizer & we both loved the elote dip. So yummy! Love popping by this when I'm in the area. They have a delicious Avocado Margarita that is absolutely bomb! When I want to go down the mocktail route, the bartenders are pretty happy to accommodate. The food is pretty good as well. Fish tacos are always a solid choice. Every time I've gone, there has been plenty of seating at the bar for those who want to pop in for a quick drink. We decided to stop by here for lunch while in Naperville. We got some chips and guacamole along with a few tacos. The guacamole was excellent. Very fresh with a tiny bit of bite. Along with this we got the pescado, quiubo and pastor. The quiubo was brisket with an avocado salsa based sauce. The beef was very tender and the sauce complimented it well. The fish taco tasty really good as well although the chipotle aioli might be a bit spicy for some. My favorite though was the pastor. The meat and sauce was great with a nice hint of smokiness to it. The pineapple pieces also added a nice touch to the flavor. Overall the meal was excellent and the service was perfect. The price seemed reasonable considering we left satisfied and full. I've been coming to this place for quite some time now. They are located downtown Naperville across from the river walk. There is plenty of street parking right outside of the restaurant and a parking garage nearby. One thing I can say for sure is that they are very consistent. Definitely recommend this place for the food! However this place is super strict with reservations. :( We almost got our chairs removed as some of our friends traveling from out of town were late by 20 minutes or so. We barely managed to order and eat as the restaurant closes at 10 so we couldn't really enjoy our meal as we would have wanted to. Hongos Mushroom tacos were yummy- smoky full of flavor. You get two per plate - be smart and don't share. I tried to be over smart and ordered a squash taco and a mushroom taco so my husband and I could try one of each. While transporting the mushroom in one hand and a baby in another, I dropped all yummy mushroom on the table. It stared at me the whole time. Whatever was left on my plate was a deconstructed mushroom taco - was super yummy. Calabasas Squash taco was smoky grilled flavor - also very tasty. The memory of that is very little as my grief for mushroom that fell on the table has replaced it. Anyway, flan was ok I guess - Tres leches was meh. Personally I like Marianos tres leches cake. Great place to sample some agave drinks. Possibly the best selection of Tequila, Mezcal and Raicilla I've seen. The bar staff, especially Jave, is very knowledgeable about everything on the list. Came here with some girlfriends for dinner. They don't take reservations for the patio but they had plenty of seating outdoors when we got there at 7pm. Ambiance is nice. The whole space is pretty much open. Service is ok. I liked that they have those hand held card swipers that make it easy to split the bill. They never came to refill our water bottle, but we did stay until closing. Would recommend the food. I think the menus on yelp may be a bit outdated since now everything is a bit more expensive and they sell tacos by the two instead of four. and i was expecting chips for the table based on pervious reviews but that does not happen. We got there at 7 PM on a Tuesday evening after Memorial Day, and most tables were filled! Just to let y'all know that they are definitely busy - especially during the summertime! I asked the server what their guacamole special was for the day. She told me the fruit of the day was cantelope. I went ahead and ordered the regular guacamole. Have to say - the 3 stars in this review are from this guacamole alone!! It was creamy, tangy, fresh and wonderfully seasoned. I would definitely come back just for the guacamole alone, and highly recommend! The chips were pretty average, but they ended up pairing well with the guacamole and were lightly salted as well. I was disappointed with my vegetarian taco, however, and definitely wouldn't recommend this place for those with dietary restrictions. Most of the menu catered to those who ate meat, and I didn't feel that my taco really justified the price point. I had two tacos only, and although it was beautifully presented, I just didn't feel like the taste represented what I was expecting. I had to do a double take because I felt like I wasn't eating something vegetarian - they fried the avocado bits, but I didn't taste anything else. I think the experience would have helped if the taco was paired with a sauce to give the taco more flavor. My friends and I were catching rays at the nearby beach when all of a sudden our bellies began to grumble and we had a sudden urge for tacos and tequila! You've been there too, right? After parking, walking around, we found Quiubo! The wait was an hour and a half for inside seating...OR a 4 top outside table ready to go! PERFECT! Almost as if it was meant to be. :-) The hostess sat us and mentioned a tequila menu... my ears perked up and I knew I was in the perfect place. Our waitress Susie greeted us, she had this great energy and level of enthusiasm I wish everyone had. She gave us the full scoop since none of us had been there before. We (I) couldn't stop talking and hearing about their tequila (and mezcal) options. They even have their own tequila (G4 single barrel reposado) which they hand picked the ingredients in Mexico! How fun! My friends opted for the tradicional margarita, mango margarita, cheleda, and I had the G4 reposado on ice with a splash of lime. Holy guacamole, we enjoyed all of them (and more)! I also ended up having the Trianon reposado with a splash of lime. Wow! Heavy in the oak and wildly delicious. Reminded me a touch of the earthiness found in a bourbon. Alright, the food! All tables receive chips and refried beans to start. Different than your average Mexican restaurant, but this place is far from that. For a real starter though, we had the Trio which came with traditional guacamole, guac of the day (mango!), and sikil pal (Mayan hummus). My favorite was...all of them, but my friends loved the sikil pal the most. It was all absolutely delicious and we highly recommend! Entrees - My friends ordered the pulpo tacos, quiubo tacos, flautas de pollo, and I had the pastor tacos. A couple of us also split the esquites and arroz. Everything was absolutely amazing! My wife, sister and friend made reservations for dinner downtown Naperville but the wait was long so we decided to stop in for a drink and had a great time. Staff: The hostess and host were both EXTREMELY nice. I wish I would've got their names but when I walked in I was greeted with a nice smile which is small but meant a lot to me. They told me that the bar was first come first serve but once a few seats became available they were nice enough to holler out and let me know that they had seats available at the bar. I thought that was pretty cool because they remembered we were outside waiting when they didn't have to do so. The bartender was also super awesome. He has a wonderful personality unlike some bartenders that just take your order and keep it moving. He was personable and made some tasty cocktails. Ok on to the drinks...OMG they were so good! We all ordered the Ensueno and let me tell you...that was probably one of the best drinks I've had in a long time at a bar. Order it! Now hear me out, being born and raised in Mexico, I've always tell my friends that knowing what real Mexican food is supposed to taste like is both a blessing and a curse. That being said, this place had the most flavorful tacos. We had the Pastor, Bien Trucha, and Pescado tacos. I would say they were all a solid 9 out of 10. I always stop by this place when I am in town. The food is always delicious, and the service (for the most part) is top notch. The prices are high...but I assume that is because of the clientele of the area. The other thing that is kind of strange is the chef's refusal to adjust things on the menu. I've never requested a change, but I have heard it has been a problem for other people. The only other negative is that the food is usually served somewhat room temperature. BUT this place still deserves 4 stars because the dishes are fun and fresh, and yet oh so simple. The guacamole is good. Be brave and try whatever the chef's choice is that day. I have had it with pear, and I was surprised by how much I liked the combination. They also give you complimentary bean dip with chips. Funky and yummy! My favorite tacos are the carnitas and the shrimp. But you can't go wrong with any of them. The grilled corn concoction is my go-to side dish. It is bright and unique. Almost forgot to mention... the flautas! Oh the flautas! These are so so so good. They are crunchy and offer a wide variety of flavors in each bite. Get these! Their drinks are also normally pretty good. I've had the avocado margarita, and my sister has had their mojito. I grew up in Naperville but haven't been back in town for over 6 years. 4 of us had dinner at Quiubo last night, a beautiful elevated Mexican restaurant in downtown and the service and the food was wonderful. The servers were attentive and spot on with food/drink recommendations. The guac Trio with the elote was outstanding. My margarita was well balanced. We have been to the restaurant's location in Glen Ellyn (A Toda Madre) so we decided to give this Naperville location a try. This location is more modern & much larger than the Glen Ellyn location so we didn't have to wait for a table early on a Friday night. As for the food, we haven't had an item on the menu we didn't like! This time we shared the Quiubo Tacos along with esquites (we weren't too hungry - this is usually not nearly enough food for 2 people!) but we also like the chicken flautas and even enjoy the bean dip & chips they bring you at the start of your meal. Unfortunately it looks as though they no longer offer Chilaquiles with pork belly like they used to.
