Our first visit: we both had steak enchiladas with Spanish rice on both sides. They were excellent! We had a giant nachos platter with ground beef as an appetizer. The nachos were fabulous. The chips and red salsa were to die for. The food is authentic, not Americanized. You can ask for milder salsas or sauces. But why, get a spectacular margarita or Mexican beer instead. Food pricey, mixed drinks very pricey, service needs help, was double charged, but it was corrected but still left with a double charge until it dropped off while this happened. Looks to be a senior female waitress or not sure what the role was. Didn't like the fact that I was irritated because I was double charged and I explicitly said I do not want to be double charged. Please fix it while she continued to scorne me, it became a full out fnnn battle between me & her, the owner finally came over, but didn't really do much about it. I don't understand why people rave about this place. It still looks like the bar it used to be 30 years ago. Food is very expensive and I definitely felt you are not getting what you are paying for. called the restaurant to place and order and was instead directed to order online using the link they sent me. I ordered what I wanted and when I checked out they added a $4.00 fee for ordering online. I have never had a restaurant change me extra for ordering online. I was planning to Oder over the phone but was forced to order online and then was charged the extra $4.00. The flautas were burned on the outside and inside the chicken was dried out. I also ordered a chimichanga and could not figure out what I received but it was not a chimichanga. The burrito I ordered was tasted good. Food is fantastic. The music was really odd and not many people there for a dinner on a Saturday. Then I got the bill and they have a cc price and a cash price. Won't go back there for that reason. The restaurant has plenty of seating. The weekday special was 5 dollars off margaritas (priced 14+ regularly). The staff were attentive. I had the chicken fajitas and enjoyed them but would have enjoyed a different meat better I believe. The portion was descent with the fixings. We received chips and salsa before the meal but finished the salsa. We asked for more but were charged for it without being told. This exchange resulted in my sister probably not returning. I ordered delivery from markitos bar and grill and unfortunately, the food just wasn't to my taste. I tried the taco salad and the cheese fries--neither had the flavor I was hoping for, and something about the cheese fries tasted a little off to me. That said, it could just be a personal preference. The food also wasn't very warm when it arrived, though I understand that can sometimes happen with delivery. I haven't dined in at the restaurant, so I can't comment on the in-person experience or customer service. Actually terrible. I never write reviews but it was so bad I feel compelled to. My friend and I live in Chicago. We were spending a day trip shopping at the outlet malls and wanted to grab dinner on our way back into the city. I saw this place has a 4.3 star on yelp so we decided to go here. I cannot begin to guess why the reviews are so high except that it's only white suburban families who go here who have never had real Mexican food. Our waitress was rude and stand offish like she didn't want us there. Maybe it's cuz I'm spoiled in Chicago with all of our amazing food and expected too much from a strip mall Mexican joint but it was bad. Flavorless, bland, white-ified. The salsas had no spice. The ambience is what you'd expect from a strip mall. Outdated and run down. Faded upholstery, gray linoleum tile, rainbow colored Christmas lights and it smelled strongly of cleaning products. Don't waste your time with the margaritas overly sweet and I don't think they added any tequila! And to top it all off we both left with tummy aches. Super disappointing. read more

Not good. This place is like the worst dive bar you've ever seen. Food was awful, I ordered tacos, I didn't know tortilla shells could be that small. One small spoonful of meat at the most. It took 2 bites to finish a taco. Only refried beans, no black beans! Margarita was $14 and I'd say there was no alcohol in it. We had 2 taco dinners one Margarita and one beer $78, and that was about the cheapest you could order. Oh, also no air-conditioning on a 93 degree day, there are many ceiling fans even one right over our table, we asked 3 times to turn it on and they would not??? OMG - the ratings are accurate for Markito's. We headed over after a round of golf and it was amazing. Josephine took very good care of us. The chips and WARM salsa were unbelievable. Margaritas and Mojitos were incredibly taste. Tacos were phenomenal. Highly recommend this place!! Ambiance is fantastic - just what we were looking for - quiet, comfortable, and laid back. Came here with my wife because we saw the almost 5 star reviews, so we had high expectations. We were seated quickly and got our chips and warm salsa quickly. but then we couldn't get any service at all after that. There was only one other couple in the establishment, and we couldn't get a water refill or another serving of chips and salsa. The odd thing was that the salsa was warm and the chips weren't fresh. Having my grandparents from Mexico, we haven't had warmed salsa before, so this was new for us. I ordered a Chile relleno with a side cheese enchilada ($21.25), and my wife ordered the chicken fajitas ($19). It took over 30 mins to get our food. Unsure why, as there were no other people in the establishment. My Chile relleno was ok, the cheese enchilada was very small and cold, and my wife fajitas were good. The prices were very expensive for the quality and the taste and the serving size. Overall, customer service was below average, and the food was just ok. My suggestion would be to go to South Chicago for a better plate of authentic Mexican food with a better price. read more

Our kids were at wrestling Practice and my husband and I went out for a margarita. The food was exceptional. The steak fajitas and the steak tostadas had absolutely no fat. I have driven past this place for the longest time and I never noticed it. My wife looked up Mexican food and saw this place so we gps it and when we arrived we laughed because it's hidden. We entered and the staff is friendly and we sat down. The girl brought chips and salsa and wow they where amazing the texture of the chips was so different from other places. The chips were delicious and that warm salsa was my favorite I actually got to cups of it. We ordered drinks jarritos for my kids and I got agua de horchata. To be honest it was my least favorite and don't recommend it. It is thicker and tasted like oatmeal not sure if it was just a bad batch but I didn't drink it. We placed an order and the torta dinner was delicious probably my favorite. The steak was weird but it was seasoned well and the jalapeño made that torta amazing. I don't think that torta would of been as good as it was without them. The steak burrito I asked for chorizo in it as well of course at at additional cost but it okay. My burrito was fully loaded with refried beans and it barley had steak or chorizo so I was kind of disappointed since I did have to pay for a additional meat and they cheap out and it tasted like beans. The salsa de pina was something different and tasty but the green was refrigerated old tasting and the red was alright. The Chile relleno with the salsa was very good. The shrimp were seasoned very good the rice was delicious and the tacos de asada were alright just something about the cut of meat. Overall the food was good just the burrito was not. So I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in. The reviews seemed like it was ok to try. But, I absolutely loved the meal I had. I just ordered their chicken breast meal so I didn't have high expectations. But, let me tell you, I wasn't expecting what I got. It came with rice and veggies. I just knew from the bottom of my fork, it was going to be bland. So, I tasted the veggies first and OMG! The explosion of seasonings and taste of fresh vegetables left me speechless. Then I tried the rice, it didn't look like anything too special. But wow!! How do they make it taste so good and look so plain?? Mind boggling to say the least. Then I tried the chicken breast!!
