Who would have thunk it? A French restaurant in an RSL club. RSL clubs are looking more like cruise…read moreships without the high seas with their little restaurants inside the buildings. We rolled in here on a voucher but were prepared to pay extra on pre dinner drinks and coffee as our three course meal was discounted. We were able choose off the menu and the specials without any limit too. There was a feeling that this voucher was an advertisement for what they could offer rather than half serves. However, that being said, the portions are the usual French serves but you still don't go home hungry. The service was excellent from the bar to the table. There is a bar for pre dinner drinks and cocktails. I liked "The Last Word" cocktail. Complimentary bread and butter to start after we chose our entree and main. Snails did not come in the shell so there was no extra implements needed, and they were very nice. The French onion soup suited my dining buddy too. Our mains of Duck a l'orange and steak were excellent. The ratatouille was oddly salty and we probably shouldn't have ordered it anyway. Dessert was off the menu and on a trolly so we were spoilt for choice there too. Not a fan of the coffee but I did order a macchiato and that brings out a multitude of sins that cappuccinos hide. The little chocolates that came with the coffee were very nice. There were a few people eating there and it seemed that some are regular customers. The loos were in keeping with the decor too but are hidden behind mirrors so you might need guidance when you want to wash your hands. You are in a club so you will need to produce some identification (driver's licence) before you can go through to the restaurant. There is plenty of off street parking. It is recommended to use the multi storey cark park but we used the ground level parking as it was very well lit.

Stumbled on their website by accident and was hooked by their special 1st anniversary degustation…read morenight of their six best selling dishes. Menu looked fantastic and I can't stop thinking about it, so I made a reservation. Since my favourite French restaurant closed last year, I've been on the lookout for a new favourite, this could be it. A glass of sparkling on arrival and a friendly smile, enough to make a great first impression before our amuse bouche arrived, Escargot with Garlic & Parsley Butter. Definitely a great start! We didn't have to wait long before the first course arrived, Sydney Rock Oysters with Sauce Mignonette. Vinegar with mince eschallots made great accompaniment to the freshly shucked oysters. Black Truffle & Mushroom Veloute with Crumbed Quail Egg is creamy and earthy with perfectly cooked crumbed quail egg added necessary texture to the dish. Pan Fried Pancetta Rolled Scallop with Foie Gras, Fennel Remoulade, Lemon & Lime Vinaigrette was excellent. This was my favourite dish of the night. It was sublime. Everything on the plate complemented each other and the foie gras added complexity to the dish. Kimchi, Tofu, Ham Hock Terrine with Apple, Ssamjang Chutney, Sesame Leaf & Nashi Pear Walnut Salad was fresh and a great follow up after a heavy meal, a palate cleanser before our next heavy meal. But the highlight and my husband's favourite dish of the night was Grilled Eye Fillet of Beef with Basil Pistou & Jus. Perfectly seared sous vide beef so tender it felt like butter when you cut through it. It left an impression on my husband so big he seriously contemplating on buying a sous vide machine to try and recreate it. Just when we thought they can't go any better than this, desserts came. I had the Passionfruit and Plum Creme Brulée with its perfectly cracked caramelised sugar topping added extra crunch. I can't really taste the plum though, but found generous amount of Passionfruit inside the Brulée. My husband chose the Apple Tarte Tatin, Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream & Salted Crumbed and I can tell you he kept telling how happy he was that he chose it for his dessert. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case the Tarte Tatin as he scraped clean his plate within minutes of consuming it. Great timing on the delivery for each course. The matching wines I had with my meals were greatly matched. All that combined with intimate ambience and friendly staff definitely completed a pleasant dining experience.

The pumpkin puree and pomegranate are a excellent compliment to the Barramundi, im really impressed   My fiancé loved her duck dish also. Everyone else had no complaints with there dishes WE didn't try any desserts The Set menu is $60 for 3 courses, the zomato menu is outdated. But from this you will only save $4 or $5, In general I found the prices a little expensive Service was attentive and friendly though food took a little longer to come out than expected Despite the price it's a place I would come back to try something else. Worth trying!

It ain't cheap (minimum order of two courses coming in at $72). After all it's not the cost of living that gets me, it's the cost of living it up. Expensive but great value nonetheless.

Two of them I think were even french and super down to earth, efficient, kind, sweet (we had a 13 year old boy falling asleep from jet lag that kicked in the second he sat down...poor guy) The food, I had escargots, my fiancée had the bouillabaisse, and she who normally wins the "Who chose best challenge" was jealous of how good my snails were. Yes I know, anything in butter and garlic will taste amazing, but no. These were generously portioned and perfectly cooked. Her bouillabaisse was packed with fish, but only had 1 clam and 1 shrimp in it which initially made the review lose 2 stars, but was really brought back up by the kindness of the patrons, the staff, and the ambiance. The music was nice with Yiann Thiersen playing from the Amelie album, a little more variety would have been good but I'm certainly not complaining seeing as I am a huge fan of Thiersen's.... but again, I'm left with this 3 star review that for some reason does not have a proper justification really. This place has the EXACT "je ne sais quoi" to redeem it back up to a 5 star rating. I think that the totality of circumstances made everything splendid, and as far as our experience was concerned, we did not feel that the shortcomings justified any fewer stars... En tout cas, thank you Rooster for a wonderful evening :-)
