I have naturally curly hair and I get a lot of compliments on it. However, it is an asset whose upkeep I have not invested in. This was a mistake. Recently, I decided to search for a specialist who could help my hair achieve its full potential. My search led me to Qurl Craft and the absolutely delightful Hadeel Mustafa. Her salon space is located inside the Santa Rosa Plaza mall in the Sola "complex" of beauty practitioners. It felt like I was going to the "hair doctor" (which is a GOOD THING). She has curly hair herself and knows from experience how challenging it can be. She gave me great instructions prior to my visit, so she could give me a dry cut, addressing each curl individually. She then walked me through each step of the cleansing and detoxifying process, carefully explaining what additives to avoid in hair products. Next she added a variety of styling products to help me achieve the healthy curls I was hoping for. Amazing! I feel like I am on the right track. She educated me about my hair in a way that I had never experienced. I left feeling well equipped to tend to my own locks and preserve/replicate the results that were achieved. She was patiently waiting in front of the entrance prior to my appointment and walked me towards the salon. Prior to my haircut, she chatted with me about what I love about my hair and my desired length. She listen to my concerns and as she cut my hair she explained why it was so important to use products that hydrate curly hair. It was such a blessing that we found Hadeel! We had originally made an appointment for our 6 yo daughter with a local stylist in Davis, but found Hadeel randomly and loved her Instagram page with her beautiful before and after pictures. Since this was our daughter's first haircut ever (we waited until she was ready) my gut just felt more comfortable having it done by someone who is well experienced with all curly hair types. I just can't say enough amazing things about Hadeel and the incredible extensions she did for me. First of all the process is absolutely worth it. I was depressed and hated what had become of my hair. It was dry and cracking and breaking on its own. I just couldn't keep it long no matter what. She helped me switch to better products and showed me what I was doing wrong with my hair. Also, the extensions she put in for me gave me the confidence and protection allowing my hair to grow through that awkward triangle phase I just could not break on my own. I also was able to allow my hair to grow while I had the extensions in much easier and faster because of how well these extensions were for my hair. She was fun and detail oriented and I miss my sessions and chats with her. Now that my hair is long and recovered I still go in to visit with her because she is amazing and can always help my hair feel smoother and silkier.
