This was very much a emergency call for an outlet that was overheating from our old microwave. As soon as I was able to message him details about my problems, he gave me a call and suggested the work that could be needed, I appreciated that since not many people give you a heads up of what could be the damage. We just moved into a new home in Chatsworth and was looking for a jack of all trades to assist us with a laundry list of upgrades and repairs. After scouring Yelp for options, I came across Rich and he came right out to meet us/quote us on some of the repairs. I cannot recommend him enough. He is fast, efficient, and goes the extra mile to make sure things are fixed/installed professionally and neatly. For example, I needed a shelf installed over our refrigerator. Without asking, he added extra bracing to the shelf to secure it better and even went as far as staining the bracing to match the surrounding cabinetry. We also had some electrical re-routing to do. He fixed that right up and went as far as neatening up the switch plates with new, clean covers. We don't have to ask him to go the extra mile, he just does it - it's such a huge relief after dealing with others who are late, unprofessional, and do shoddy jobs. You call him, he's there. Rich responded quickly and the result is adequate: sink is installed and working. However, I am so unsatisfied with the interaction that I feel I should feedback to the community. I want to warn people that he might try to work you up for more than you thought you'd be paying. In my case, we agreed on $750 to do the job but while he was in the middle of the job he said he needed more materials so it would be $850 if i agreed. I was disappointed but said "fine" since he was already there and I am a busy person who is also very non-confrontational. At the end he asked for $900 for still additional materials. Update: I did not use his services, nor do I plan on it, not sure why he is offering my number to strangers for an honest review on how uncomfortable I was regarding this discussion when I called about checking to see if he was licensed, insured and vaccinated. Not only has he called me after posting this review but has offered my information because i posted a review on how I did not feel that the conversation was professional but the lack of concern for a global pandemic, my issues were not about his vaccination status or following his doctors orders but the comments that followed after that seemed to not have the seriousness of COVID. Interesting that he wants me fired for following my works request to check vaccination status. Called for information and asked if he was licensed, insured and vaccinated. he spent the entire time talking about how I shouldn't worry about Covid spewing up every conspiracy theory when I was just trying to see if they are vaccinated. Because seems really misinformed and would not stop saying conspiracy theories, even eventually brought up immigration, not sure why but would not stop. No thanks. Rich was as efficient as he was responsive - the latter of which should be held in as high of importance as other criteria when getting bids. He holds multiple licenses so his quotes are justified. My experience with him proved the notion that's it's best to get it right the first time. A day later I noticed my water heater leaking. I skipped calling the vendor listed on the water heater and texted Rich a photo instead. He immediately responded, checked my warranty status and called around for stock- all on Christmas Eve day. Long story short, the exact equipment needed was not readily available on Christmas Eve but Rich worked to get it as soon as physically possible and had our unit replaced and had hot water running in no time. Unlike most places will give you a quote then jack the price up $200 or move when they arrive. As far as the 1 and 2 Star reviews on this company. I run my own business and I can tell you time and time again that when I client tells me they have been looking on Craigslist for work done, it will ALWAYS end bad for the company. I always refuse to work with clients, who want to hire me after searching on Craigslist. That Old saying, "You get what you pay for." 8-10 times the people, who look for work on Craigslist are either new and need to build their portfolio, don't have license or insurance. Clients must understand, yes Companies who charge more have more cost involved. No one goes to a restaurant and tells the location, to lower their prices because another restaurant down the street is lower. Nor does anyone after getting their groceries scan ask the Cashier to lower the price, because the 99 Cent store or Food for Less offers the same thing but cheaper. The same thing goes for PROFESSIONAL LICENCED and INSURED workers. You go with the people/company you can afford. Like I said, I got other offers from other handmen on yelp, but does not mean I have ANY negative feels towards this company, because as a consumer I decided to go with company I felt best fits my budget and my needs. Today I had the misfortune of needing a handyman to help me with an electrical problem I was having in my home. However I had the great fortune to be referred to R&K tradesmen. I had a very positive experience when I called. Michelle was very professional. They were able to attend to me immediately. Within 30 minutes of calling them they were at my door as promised. Rich identified the problem very quickly and got it fixed. He even fixed another problem at my house during the same visit. With an electrical problem if it is not repaired correctly you risk burning down your house. So I felt very good knowing that they had contractors licenses in four different trades. I am definitely going to keep the refrigerator magnet right on the front door should I need any of this kind of work again. You can take a risk hiring someone who's not license. Have not used the services, but based on a short interaction over my daily walks passing in front of his house, he is a low class guy. His cars were completely blocking the sidewalk, as I was passing, so I had to get out of the pedestrian walk to the street to move on. The guy was outside and instead of a friendly "hello" or "sorry for the inconvenience" he followed me we some long stare as if it was me invaiding his property. When people on here say FAST they mean F-A-S-T. I had a washer/dryer delivered today and I needed the dryer to be connected. I called Michelle when the guys were just finished with the delivery and Rich got here while I was still signing the paperwork. They went in and got right to work (oh wow, I'm awful...I just realized I didn't offer them any water or anything...sorry guys). I didn't have a gas line that was needed so they sold me one at a reasonable price. Rich moved the equipment around to make sure that my door wouldn't hit it and then explained a small issue with the heat function of the dryer (because of how my laundry room is set up). After they were done, they gave me information on another small house issue and looked at lighting features to give me a quote for future jobs. I love that I could pay by credit card using square and that I got a receipt right away. All in all they were friendly, super fast and professional. I don't always leave a Yelp review, but when I do it's because the service was AWESOME and I encourage others to use them as well. I will be calling (and reviewing) again very soon. I have never written a review on Yelp or anywhere else, but the service that I received from Rich and his company R&K Tradesman. I had a real issue in my condo and I needed plumbing help as fast as possible. I called and to my happy surprise a live voice , Rich was on the line with me. He asked me to text him pictures and descriptions of my two separate issues. I had a leaking pipe that needed to be repaired under my bathroom sink. The second issue was that I needed my kitchen faucet and my trash compactor replaced. He responded immediately and that I should go buy the new faucet and trash compactor. I asked for an estimate and he gave me a price . I had to try and negotiate something a bit lower and he was giving me an excellent price. I said that I wanted to speak to a few other plumbers. Truth is I didn't call that many plumbers , just 4 or 5. Then I stopped wasting my time and called Rich and we set up an appointment for the next morning. He arrived on time and came in and started to get right to work. Rich let me know that I had purchased the wrong faucet for my sink. He said that I should go get the right one and he had plenty of work to do while I was gone. Keep in mind that I had just met Rich, and normally I wouldn't leave somebody that I just met alone in my condo. I could tell right away that Rich was a guy I could trust. I ran to the hardware store and got the right faucet set. Not only had he gotten The bathroom issue resolved. Bottom line is R&K Tradesman great service. Clean, fast and trustworthy. I finally have found a plumber that I can trust. I told Rich that I would also call him about any project that I might be doing in my condo that he might able to do for me in the future. Great Guy !
