I am extremely disappointed with the lack of integrity this company displayed. I called on Saturday to schedule a visit for Sunday to fix a backed-up shower drain. When I made the appointment, I was quoted a flat rate of $99 for a standard drain clean-out. I even clarified the price to make sure there wouldn't be any surprises. On the day of the appointment, the technician arrived about 30 minutes before the scheduled service time. One of the first questions he asked was whether my landlord was paying for the service, which I found odd. I told him I wasn't sure yet. After my landlord came upstairs to look at the issue, the technician assessed the shower and suddenly quoted us $150 for the job. My landlord and I both explained that I had been quoted a flat rate of $99. After making a phone call, he came back and said he would "do it for $99." He then spent no more than 15 minutes working on the drain before telling us he couldn't fix it. He claimed he had snaked the drain about 15 feet and suggested the pipes were probably corroded. He recommended scheduling a much larger repair that would require cutting into the ceiling downstairs to access the main line and replacing the pipes. What bothered me most was that he left without resolving the problem and left us with disgusting standing water full of debris that wasn't there before he started. Instead of fixing what turned out to be a simple clog, he immediately tried to upsell us into what sounded like a major plumbing project. Fortunately, we called a different plumber the next day. He ran a snake about 10 feet into the drain, pulled out a large hair clog, and had the shower draining properly in a short amount of time. No corroded pipes. No cutting into ceilings. No unnecessary pipe replacement. Based on my experience, I can't help but question whether unnecessary repairs are being recommended to other customers as well. I expected honesty and professionalism, but instead I felt pressured toward an expensive repair that wasn't needed. I would not recommend MVP Plumbing based on my experience. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Valuable Plumbers in Chatsworth. Before scheduling the visit, I was quoted **$795 over the phone** to inspect and locate a leak. However, once the technician arrived and saw that the property was a large home, the price suddenly increased to **$2,500** for the exact same service. The size of the house had nothing to do with the work that needed to be performed. A larger home still has the same types of plumbing fixtures and appliances as a typical house, and the leak detection process doesn't automatically become three times more expensive simply because the property is larger. If the company bases its pricing on square footage, that should be disclosed upfront before scheduling the appointment - not after arriving at the property. I felt the original quote was not honored, so I declined the service and asked the technician to leave. The experience wasted my time and left me feeling that the pricing was changed only after they saw the size of the home. I cannot recommend a company that changes its quoted price in this manner. ************UPDATE************* Received response from business. I actually remember our phone call a bit differently. I would give the plumber (Nicholas C.) a 5* review just for him alone. He snaked and unclogged the kitchen sink. He was very professional and kept a pleasant demeanor throughout the whole interaction we had with him. Where it was unpleasant was when the office told the tenant over the phone the initial estimate of $99, somehow that became $195 after Nicholas had a conversation with the office after me the landlord arrived. We were not pleased with this change so told MVP we don't want them to do it anymore. We had further discussions about why the price increased after the call to the office was made. I got ripped off... but not as badly as they wanted. I paid $395 for MVP to jet my sewer line and run a camera. They found lots of damage, claiming they couldn't even run the waterjet because it could damage the fragile pipe and "the jet could even get stuck in there." (We went back and forth... him saying he DID jet and that he could not.) He wanted to charge me $5,800 to repair the worst of the damaged pipe. This would require excavating a 4-ft wide hole down to 6 ft. And once they were down there they would have "to see if further work was needed, but there was no way to tell until they got down there and looked." He was extremely convincing. He sounded sincere and honest. But, thankfully, I decided to have another company take a look. The second company said that the sewer pipe did NOT need to repaired. Then they cleaned out the pipe for a small fraction of the MVP quote, showed me a video of the beautiful clean pipe and guaranteed the work. (And we all know what would have happened if I had allowed MVP to rip open my yard.) This is a scam company. Do not walk away. RUN. read more

I hired MVP Plumbing to reroute my kitchen plumbing for $23,000. Unfortunately, after their work, I discovered a leak due to a piece they replaced but didn't tighten properly. Water pooled under my cabinet, warping the bottom shelf. When I called them, they said there's nothing they can do about the damage. Be careful if you expect them to stand behind their work. We hired this company to address a toilet issue (leak around base and slow flush) at my dad's house. The plumber was polite, professional, and arrived on time. I wasn't there in person, but my dad kept me informed throughout the visits. He was given an estimate of $1,750, which included putting a camera in the main sewer line, snaking the main line, and replacing the toilet. The main line was ultimately not snaked because the camera showed it to be clear, yet the total charge was still $1,750 for the camera inspection and replacing the toilet. I was surprised that the toilet itself wasn't ruled out first, especially as no other fixtures were affected. My dad was relieved the problem was solved, but I can't help feeling this could have been solved a lot more simply for much less cost. I would strongly encourage others -- particularly those helping elderly family members -- to ask detailed questions, clarify what will and will not be charged, and consider getting a second opinion before approving major work. read more

Update: Received a very sincere apology from MVP. They were willing to offer me refund for the diagnostic fee. It show the integrity of the company and it is very much appreciated. Original : I've used MVP Plumbing before and have been nothing but happy and satisfied with their plumbing service. Their plumbers have always been extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. However, my recent experience with their HVAC service was disappointing. The technicians were friendly and arrived on time, but my AC issue was completely misdiagnosed. The actual problem ended up being a malfunctioning capacitor, which the MVP technician told me was functioning properly. Because of that, they recommended replacing the whole compressor for $3,500. Had they made that repair, My AC would still not have been functioning properly. Thankfully, I got a second opinion, and another company was able to find and fix the real issue in about five minutes for only $200. I would still use MVP for plumbing, but based on this experience, their HVAC technicians need more experience and better troubleshooting before recommending major repairs. read more

A few weeks ago I had an estimate done on my rental property. The two other plumbing companies gave me a super extremely high estimate. they wanted to swap out the water heater for a new one, which was very expensive. The last service guy was super honest and gave me an estimate for parts to change out rather than replacing the whole unit. It is not very old, so it seemed more logical to me. Fixed a defective original install & replaced the burned out pump. Not an easy job by all means. The two of them worked together flawlessly. They actually completed the whole job in one afternoon. Adam A. worked endlessly until the main line was cleared by removing roots that altered the integrity of the main line, then perm liner within the pipe, as there were several cracks. Prior to this jetting and descaling was needed to remove roots that damaged the pipes. Then camera was inserted again to take post imaging work. This was to insect and insure the internal liner's integrity was patent. Finally, placing pavers and turf like nothing ever occurred. Adam nailed it. Sean and his crew did an amazing job in my apartment complex. They spent 3 weeks redoing the entire plumbing. Communication with all the tenants were great and he let us know when they were going to enter our units to work. They were all very respectful of personal property and made sure nothing was broken or damaged. When they completed the work, not only did they clean up my apartment, but they vacuumed the rug and placed good fresh sent to warm up the place. honestly, this is the worst experience I've had with a plumbing business. I asked them to do a simple unclogging and they completely destroyed my central valve.
