Absolutely the worst delivery service available. They made an appointment, 5 days out to deliver to my home. I live on a weight restricted dead end, the only street leading to mine is under construction. So, I called the same day to have the pallet delivered to a warehouse 5 miles away to make it easy on the driver. They no showed, when I called they had the pallet on hold for an address change and did not think to notify me. When you ship something the carrier becomes your representative, do you really want a company like this representing you? read more

I received a text message providing a delivery date and time frame; it also stated someone had to be onsite to receive the delivery. I called R+L Carriers to see about rescheduling to ensure I could be onsite. I was transferred four times and ended up with a representative (Rebecca) who was short, cut me off, talked over me, and was rude. She stated, contraindicating the text that I received, that no one had to be present. I finally managed to interrupt her to say I would rather be there so could they reschedule it by one day. Her response was along the lines of, 'Nope. We don't need a signature so we're going to "drop it" that day. We won't reschedule." When I said that's somewhat of a poor response, she told me to take it up with my shipper. The shipment is a pallet of tile so I cringed when she said they were going to "drop it". I guess we'll have to wait to see what we find. read more

Worst delivery service. They were supposed to call me 24 hours prior to delivery to schedule a time. Driver just showed up, no call ahead. I had to reschedule for the following day. They gave me a window from 11am-4pm. I show up to my warehouse 30 minutes early to find my generator blocking my door. Again, no call. Now it's up to me to figure out a way to move the 500lb generator into the warehouse. Called them and they couldn't care less. I would not recommend this company for any shipping needs. read more

THEY SUCK! Left very expensive HVAC sitting half in ditch half in street. Customer service had all the excuses down pat. I was suppose to sign for it but the lazy driver couldn't walk up to the house to even let me know it was in the street. Customer Service said he couldn't get in my drive because its gravel. Driver gave excuses as to why he could only drop freight at the highway and not at a residence as requested. Driver didn't appear to have the skill or professionalism to carry out such a simple task. As a commercial customer, I will admit we have had a good experience with the local LTL team. However (a BIG however) our experience with the international team has us checking into other options for our shipping needs. We periodically order a few pallets at a time from a manufacturer in China. 2024 saw multiple orders over a short period of time. An R&L Rep asked what we were being charged for shipping, and upon hearing our cost remarked that it sounded high & we should give them a shot at quoting our next order. As I spoke to 3 or 4 of these experts, I was VERY CLEAR that our cost was door-to-door service. At every step we were reassured that everything would work out. Our main complaint over the manufacture handling the freight was how long it was taking and the lack of transparency. We were again assured full transparency with their new global tracking systems. Real time tracking of our shipment. R&L reps boasted about this system and that they were soooooo experienced in the port workings that they controlled every aspect of their containers. So much so that their containers cleared customs five days before coming into port! Amazing! No delays at port and right onto a truck. We bought the port bond. No big deal. A couple of $100 for 12 months of this magical service. Saving time & money. Let's do it! Now the reality...Delays at sea. OK, fine. Can't control the weather. Oh, wait, I can see the live freight tracking, right? Not so much. The order has yet to make it to port. Enter the first disappointing email informing us our bill is 2.5Xs the estimate. Excuse me?! Then they have the nerve to demand payment before it hits port. I think not. Order enters port. Right to a truck! Not so fast! Enter 2nd disappointment, new email letting us know that the container including our freight has been flagged for inspection. But no need to worry, because it had nothing to do with our shipment. How long will this take? Should be fast, they say, 3-5 days maybe a week. Weeks later, another email detailing we owe ADDITIONAL FUNDS for the customs stop. Now with a demand for payment of nearly $5,000. Still could not tell me when our freight would be delivered, but new it was still in California. My response? We will not think about paying until we know the shipment is in Chicago, at the very least. More time passes; our shipment appears in Chicago (mind you this amazing live tracking is a joke). After some back and forth about the accuracy of charges and location, we pay and are informed that if we do not schedule immediate delivery there would be additional charges. Are you kidding me?! This email thread was late in the week, and we were offered the following Monday or Tuesday. Great, I will rearrange everything we had scheduled to end this nightmare. Monday comes and goes (I am at my wits end). I call in to be informed that they handed the delivery off to a 3rd party. Who had to go right past us to get there & the real kicker is when I called the 3rd party I was told, "Oh, we don't deliver to your area on Mondays". I of course apologize for letting loose on this poor guy. Whom I am certain called R&L the moment we hung up. Tuesday came and so did our shipment. To be perfectly clear, we sit on a daily R&L route. Let's recap, what was supposed to be faster, cheaper and more transparent ended up 2.5x more in time and money while being as transparent as a rock in a cave. I cced every single person I had come into contact with regarding this absolute failure. How did R&L respond? We did get a call about a week or so later. We are now mid-Feb on a shipment we were scheduled to receive Dec 23rd. How did the call go? Well..... After navigating the timeline for their "Fixer", she apologizes that I would have to relive the experience from months ago. She was clueless that we had only received our goods the previous week. I was called illiterate and stupid along the way. Good Stuff, stay cool. The conclusion? That we were due substantial compensation for our troubles, and if we wouldn't mind holding off on writing this review until she called back. Today is April 15th. Time is up! Just had the worse experience with R & L Carriers. I ordered a large dining room table from Colorado. I paid almost $1000 to have it shipped to southern California. I first received a call from R & L Carriers asking me when I would like my "wine barrels" delivered. I told them I never ordered wine barrels. Their mix up. I was told my table would be delivered the following week. The next thing I know an elderly driver shows up alone unexpectedly at my door with my massive table weighing over 200 pounds. It is painfully clear there is no way this poor man, who speaks very little English, can get this huge table out of his truck by himself. And the hydraulic lift clearly wasn't long enough to support the table. My husband is at work and I am alone. We are in the process of having pavers installed. There are mounds of dirt and stone everywhere as we were unprepared for this delivery. Out of the goodness of their hearts, the four paver installers offered to help the R & L Carrier driver onload the table and literally carry my table over dirt and stone into my garage. IT TOOK FIVE PEOPLE - R & L CARRIERS SENT ONE ELDERLY MAN. The pavers installers who happened to be at my house were NOT my workers. Had someone gotten hurt in the process, who's liable? This whole thing was unbelievable, dangerous and unnecessary. I called and spoke with the Operations Manager at R & L Carriers who assured me they would "review their processes". I told them they should have at least sent two people to deliver this large, heavy table. I was told this would have been an additional cost above the $1000 I already paid and that it was the driver's responsibility to let them know he would need an additional person. The driver's responsibility? I wonder what sort of liability insurance R & L Carriers has in the event one of their drivers get injured trying to deliver a 200 pound plus dining room table my himself? Does R & L Carriers expect their customers to carry a 200 plus pound piece of furniture. In the process of cost cutting and clearly watching their bottom line, someone is ultimately going to get injured if this continues. There will be lawsuits and lawyers involved. I called and alerted the manufacture of my table that I will not order from them again if they use R & L Carriers. I am that angry after what happened today. read more

This carrier is notorious for taking at least a week longer than other carriers. We order parts from several vendors from Georgia to New York. Most other carriers are have our freight to us here in Maine in one or two days. R&L will take 8 to ten days, and when you track your pallet, you'll see it sit in one place for up to 3 days. I believe they have dropped prices and have to hold up the truck until it fills up. We can not afford the savings. read more

R&L was assigned to deliver a vanity that we purchased online. First, it was fortunate that I happen to be at home, because they failed to contact us that they would be delivering the vanity that day. They had promised to contact us via text at least 1/2 hour before delivery, which they neglected to do. The delivery guy wheeled it into our garage and stated that the large plastic pallet that was used for transport was something that we would need to accept along with the vanity. I replied that it's huge and that it isn't reasonable for a property owner of a tract house to be forced to accept the pallet that it was delivered. I, of course, had no use for it and wouldn't know how to dispose of the plastic monstrosity! He then asked me if I was refusing the receipt of the vanity. I replied, "Well, I guess so" calling his bluff. It was obvious that he was really pissed off, so he finally said for me to sign the document as received and that he would haul the pallet back onto his truck. Overall, the guy was just simply a jerk who didn't appear to like what he was doing for a living. Springing at the last moment that I was suppose to keep the large plastic pallet was completely unreasonable. If given a choice, there is no way that I would use this company for anything! read more

Showing proof of damage from the forks on the fork truck, and they're the only ones that used a fork truck to move the box. They changed our scheduled delivery time on us last minute but despite being curbside service they actually brought the delivery up the driveway for us and put it next to the house. Since we weren't home when they delivered it because of the delivery change, I called and they came back and moved it into the garage for us for the inconvenience. The customer service rep was very reasonable over the phone and they were overall a good company to work with. The delivery came in good condition. read more

I wish I could give 0 star but no choice. I bought a small kitchen sink with cabinet. I was so happy when I found this because it is exactly what I wanted. But the sink cabinet came with damage. I asked replace. Costumer service said they don't have same thing so I had to buy different one. It was okay. The problem was that the delivery box was enormous and heavy, completely filling up my small space. I rent a small room, about 100 square feet, to provide beauty services. With that huge box in the room, I felt like I was going to lose my mind. It was too heavy for me to move, so I had no choice but to leave it there and serve my clients around it until a return or exchange was decided. Six days after receiving the damaged product, they finally approved the return--but then told me to dispose of the box myself. How was I supposed to deal with something that heavy? Luckily, my kind plumber offered to help me get rid of the damaged item after installing the replacement. So, I waited for the exchange to happen. However, it took three weeks from the day I received the damaged item for the replacement to arrive. For those three weeks, I had to endure the stress of working around that massive box in my tiny room. My clients were understanding and even comforted me, but it was still incredibly frustrating. Then came last Friday, the scheduled delivery date for the replacement. But it didn't show up. I had to cancel my plumber's appointment twice--once he even came all the way to the shop, and the second time I canceled just three hours before. The worst part? The delivery team said they didn't deliver because I didn't answer the phone which I never recived. Both my manager and I were at the shop, and I even saw the delivery truck parked outside! I thought it was finally coming, but an hour later, nothing. Instead of coming to check, they just left. So, I rescheduled the delivery for Tuesday, but to my surprise, it came on Monday instead. While I was waiting at the hospital for an appointment, I got a call saying that if I didn't accept the delivery that day, they'd return the product. Furious but with no other choice, I cut my hospital visit short and rushed to the shop. When I arrived, the delivery guy refused to bring the package inside and said I'd have to handle it myself. Last time, they had at least brought it into the shop. This time, they dumped it in front of the shopping center, along with the wooden pallet it was sitting on, and just left. I had to drag nearly 200 pounds by myself into the shop. Thankfully, this time, the product was fine, and there were no issues with it. But what made me so angry was how poorly I was treated throughout the process. It seemed like they were unprofessional and rude because it was a return and exchange situation. Their damaged product caused me to lose three weeks of smooth operation at my shop, and I had to endure so much stress without a single complaint. Yet, in the end, they left me feeling so disrespected. I can't just let this go without leaving a review to share my experience. read more

This company is a complete waste of time. From the very beginning, I told them a semi truck would not be able to deliver to my location and that I would need a box truck with a pallet Jack. 2 separate agents assured me. A box truck was indeed delivering my package. I called the company to get an updated eta of delivery time and asked to make sure they would bring a pallet jack in the box truck. They had the driver call me when he was close to my location only to discover he was not in a hox truck but a semi truck. On top of that it was raining and he said my items were not wrapped in plastic. He called R&L and was told to ask me if i could pick up the shipment myself at their terminal or meet him somewhere tomorrow. This shipment weighed 600 pounds and i have a bad back. Which i why i paid to have it delived to my garage. So i never replied to this request, instead i contacted the company i bought my items from and they started talking to R&L to get my shipment delived as was supposed to be with a box truck and pallet jack. The next day i still had not heard anything from anyone and just after i woke from bed i get a call from a R&L driver saying he is 30 minutes from my house. Im thinking, oh great they got my delivery on a box truck...Nope, the driver informed men he is in a semi truck. I had to jump up grab a trailer and drive to a neighboring town to end this fiasco. The driver Cody was very professional and the only good thing about this company that lies. Telling me twice from two seperate agents they would be delivering in a box truck. I had $6000 worth of cabinetry which was delivered by R And L carriers. My house was approximately a quarter-mile from the main road. They refused to drive onto my private road to get to my driveway. I paid them $$600 to deliver the cabinetry to my house. They unloaded all the cabinetry by the side of the road. My wife and I are both over 70 we had to drive our van to the main road unload the van twice. Then drive quarter-mile back to our house. I recommend avoiding these folks if you can the only positive here is that the driver was understanding but could do nothing. read more

I had a 370lb delivery scheduled with R+L Carriers, through Force USA. Delivery was originally confirmed for February 25th with a 9am-4pm window. After reconfirming our delivery the day prior and morning of, I took PTO so that I could be home for it's arrival - however the delivery never came. Delivery was then rescheduled for March 4th; another PTO day was taken to satisfy the 7-hour delivery window. Upon arrival, the driver left the pallet along with my 370lbs worth of equipment in the middle of our street. The driver said he could "do me a favor" by bringing the delivery to the top of my driveway, but the pallet would damage our driveway in the process; therefore he felt leaving it in the middle of the street was appropriate. This left me having to find a way to transfer 370lbs worth of equipment up our driveway myself so that it was not in the flow of traffic. Is this how you would want your $2,000.00 delivery handled? read more

I was concerned after seeing all the negative reviews. RL Carriers had first called me asking if a 9am-1pm delivery worked. I asked if they had any other availability and he said they could do 11am-3pm. On the morning of the delivery date the driver still showed up unexpectedly at 9AM sharp. Luckily we were home and could accommodate this. But the employee was extremely friendly and helpful. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was zero damage and you could tell care had been taken to abide by the shipping instructions to not stack and to ship the item flat. Overall it was a wonderful experience apart from the scheduling slip up on their end. I would definitely use them again. read more

Let me say first that the driver (Melissa) was awesome and that's why I'm giving this 4 stars. I ordered kitchen cabinets and the company bundled them all into one pallet. The pallet was too long for the driver to get it off the truck using the dolly and lift gate. The delivery by the cabinet company is curbside. Because the driver couldn't get the pallet off the truck, we needed to get each box off individually. Melissa didn't leave me hanging to do that alone even though she could have. For the delivery company: If you know beyond a doubt (see attached pictures) that the dolly can't be used to get the pallet off the truck, ship the pallet on a truck that has a fork lift! Your contract with the cabinet company is for curbside. Make sure your truck/driver is able to fulfill that contract. read more

Two years ago, we tried to buy a Weber grill from a reputable online vendor. They use R&L Carriers as their shipper. The first grill was crushed, not just the box, but the steel lid and sides of the gas grill. So was the second, and the third. When the driver tried to deliver the third and final attempt, which I refused, he said they stack these things up six high in the warehouse despite the printed warning on the box that says not to stack over two high. Fast forward to today. I want to order a heavy, bulky item that ships from Colorado that will cost about $1,800. They use R&L Carriers. I spent thirty minutes with the seller discussing my terrible experience with R&L in the past and exploring other options for delivery, even much more costly ones. But, they only use R&L Carriers. So, they've lost a customer and a big sale. I feel that strongly about how terrible R&L Carriers is that I would rather do without something than be at their mercy over another purchase. If you too would tell vendors that you won't shop their goods until they dump R&L, this carrier might get the message. read more

HORRIBLE. I ordered 3 bath tubs from Build.com to be sent to a construction site. (1) They scheduled delivery without even coordinating with me. I got a text message at 6am saying the delivery will be made same day. (2) I called them at 8am to get a delivery window and was told to call back at 9:30am. I called back and was told 12-2pm delivery window. I specifically asked and was told that the driver would not and could not call me when he's on the way. (3) At 2pm, driver is still not there so I call again and am told that the window was pushed back to 3-5pm. WTF. Does no one at this company know how to use a phone?? I don't understand why it's so hard for anyone at this company to pick up the phone and coordinate delivery with me. (4) I am transferred to their dispatch center and the dispatcher tells me the driver will call when he's 30 minutes out and when I blow up in frustration, she says she doesn't understand why I was told by the company that the driver would not/could not call me because the driver always calls. I understand this is a tough time for the industry but if you have any choice in the matter, suggest you choose a different one that these clowns. read more
