Within minutes, they were texting and calling and offering to send us a technician right away to look at our problem. Daniel arrived less than 30 minutes later, took a look, and gave us an estimate. We approved, so he immediately started on the job! There was a complication (an excessive amount of condensation), so Daniel recommended that we get in touch with our HOA to see if there was anything that they would want to do about it before he went any further. After we talked to them on Monday, Daniel returned that afternoon to complete the service. I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with R&S Services who I found threw the app Thumb Tack I contacted them for a repair on my fireplace, and they came out to do what I thought would be a straightforward fix. However, instead of repairing the issue, they only provided a diagnosis and left without addressing the actual problem. To make matters worse, they handed me a inaccurate receipt and charged me for the supposed repair, even though no work was done! The receipt didn't even include a contact phone number, which seemed very suspicious. I tried reaching out to them through the app I used to request the service, repeatedly asking them to call me, but they never responded. Instead, they pressured me to pay cash or via Venmo, which felt very shady and unprofessional. I was misled and taken advantage of, and I felt completely scammed. This company is clearly more interested in making money off people than actually providing any real service. I would strongly advise against using them. Do your research and find a reputable company that doesn't engage in these deceptive practices. I'll definitely be filing a complaint and sharing my experience with others to prevent anyone else from going through this! ---1IPDATE since writing a review on ThumbTack the App where I found them and booked the service, they responded and LIED! They said they came out to my home TWICE and FIXED the issue! They did NOT! My neighbor who is an Electric Engineer fixed it! They also wanted to change what the receipt said since it's said "repair" and all they did was diagnosed the problem. They said the issue was in the switch. They were wrong. Nothing was wrong with the switch....it was the wiring! When they left it did NOT work, my neighbor REPAIRED it! Shady company! Will report to BBB! I requested fireplace and chimney cleaning services from R&S and Daniel came out the next morning. He cleaned out years of heavy creosote buildup, filled a number of sizeable cracks in our fireplace and chimney and painted our fireplace with fireplace interior paint as a finishing touch. We are very happy with the service we received and the detailed work - great value for the price! I used them in June because the company I wanted didn't have availability on the day I needed it to be done. The R & S technician recommended I get the gas pipe replaced (however they do NOT do that). It's not spelled out that they don't do gas pipe replacement. What's the purposed of hiring a company to fireplace but they can't do anything else - just recommendation. (See Dani P. - April 4 2025 review - she had the same issue). So I ended up using another day have hire another fireplace company (the one I originally wanted - Swede Chimney) to come over to inspect / fix the pipe. I was told told me - the gas pipe did not need to be replaced and pipes were in overall great condition. So the R & S technician recommended work that was NOT needed. They are quite expensive for a company that does not do anything else than vacuum your fireplace, which I could have done myself. Another issue - the company does not accept Credit Cards. So something to consider. read more
