The food was actually really good. I had the burger, Brussels sprouts, and the spinach with mushrooms, and I don't have any complaints about the food itself. The cucumber mint lemonade was AMAZING. Too bad it's $4 for a small glass with no refills. Now for the rest... they were out of fries, which normally come with the burger, but I was charged an extra $3 to substitute Brussels sprouts. The server never mentioned there would be an upcharge. I only found out when I got the bill. When I questioned it, she basically said she couldn't control the system. My issue isn't even the $3. If you're out of the side that comes with the meal, customers shouldn't have to pay extra for a replacement. And I definitely don't appreciate surprise charges on my bill. I had my child with me, so I wasn't about to go back and forth over $3. I paid it and kept it moving. Another surprise was that they don't offer free water. If you want water, you have to buy a bottle. Between paying for parking, paying for bottled water, and no drink refills, the little charges started adding up. I felt "nickled and dimed." The music couldn't decide what vibe it wanted. One minute we could talk normally, and the next minute we were basically at a concert. There was also a leak in the ceiling, and near the restrooms there was a smell that reminded me of old wet towels. On the positive side, the host was amazing. He was super personable and welcoming. They also turn those tables over FAST. By the time we paid, our dishes were gone and the table was already cleaned and ready for the next group. The food is what saved this review. Everything we ordered was very well seasoned and balanced. The waffles were so soft. The shrimp and grits had big shrimp with that blackened flavor. The fish and grits was more than just the salmon, but fried shrimp (i think) on top as well. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits and loved the sausages and mushrooms in it too. Now look, I was influenced to come here by social media when I was in town for a festival. I arrived when they first opened up and had a reservation. There isa table time limit so please be aware of that. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My friends ordered the catfish and blueberry dish. The reviews are true!! the food is fantastic!! I mean seriously good! like, I bookmarked this place for my next visit to Atlanta. Upscale southern cooking with a few delectable twists. 24K gold fried chicken and waffles is every bit of delicious and bougie! And the shrimp grits were plate-licking good! I met the owner, and he was nice and very much in the trenches of helping his staff stay on top of turning over tables. However, when cleaning the tables, someone over sprayed the cleaning product and some of it got into the eyes and mouth of one of my guests. I also wanted to try a few specific items, but they were sold out, so my yelp nerve was getting plucked, but my backup options were so good that I couldn't even stay disappointed. The customer service was southern hospitality at its best, and this place was getting packed as we ate, so hopefully they'll find a bigger location in the future...the sky is the limit! Reservations are highly encouraged, and They do require a deposit-currently $5 per person, which completely refundable up unto 48hours until reservation time. This deposit is supposed to be credited to your final bill, but they forgot to add it to my bill. I called the restaurant 2 days later, and they were very pleasant about the refund, but I have not yet received any credit back to my card. And it's been 3 weeks at the time of this review. We randomly ended up here after we had TROUBLE finding our tailgate party prior to the Commanders/Falcons game. This was an awesome consolation prize because our food was amazing! Came in for brunch and stayed for the food. I arrived at the perfect time because there was no wait. When I sat, it did take several minutes for the server to come over, but he was nice and explained that he was serving a lot of tables. He took my order right away and promptly returned with something for me to drink. I ordered the fish and grits with fried fish, which was swai. I got the red velvet french toast and it was better than I thought it would be, and I had already had high expectations. The eggs were cooked very well and the mac and cheese was delicious. There was a guy walking around doing card tricks for tips, which was fine but nothing crazy. The only complaint I would have is that they only provide water in bottles, which is an upcharge and makes you ration how much you drink over the course of the meal. The Flavor Rich Restaurant is definitely a gem. I had the Asian jumbo prawns with two sides--their potatoes and the sautéed spinach with mushrooms--and everything was cooked to perfection. The prawns were seasoned just right and were really meaty. Just watching some of the other dishes come out of the kitchen, everything looked really good as it passed through the restaurant. Parking was easy. There's paid parking on the side of the building and a huge parking lot behind it, so you really don't have to worry about finding a spot. Two hours was about $6.35. The only small issue was that I arrived at 12:00 for my reservation and didn't get seated until around 12:15, so there was a little bit of a wait--but nothing major. The only thing I could've skipped was probably the red velvet French toast only because it was literally crumbled red velvet cake on top of regular French toast. Initially, I wanted to make a reservation, but the $5 fee per seat to reserve online turned me off. Once I got in, I was able to promptly add my party's name to the wait list but the bar was open and I was told that I could dine there if I liked. Bartender was preoccupied, we were assisted but it was clear that we didn't have his full attention. He was able to get us what we needed, but you definitely had to make it known what you needed. Parking available immediately next door in an unsecured look. The starting rate for parking was two hours for a little over $6. I would dine again. I couldn't give five stars due to the off putting online booking fee when you can sit at the bar with no fuss, the dish I came for was sold out before noon (red velvet french toast) and I wasn't alerted of that prior to ordering, and bartender seemed preoccupied which made it feel like a nuisance to order at the bar. There was also a Christian card magician there going around doing card tricks for tips. He wasn't the worst but it felt forced and like he was loitering for tips. I dropped in to Flavor Rich with my wife at a last minute for a Sunday brunch. It's the kind of place you want a reservation at. Fortunately, they had space for us and we were seated quickly. There's a variet of tables and seats, from couples' tables to tables for 4 and even a few tables for larger parties. The energy was lively, more akin to a club than a quiet spot to rest. There was music with heavy beat and a card magician going around and entertaining for tips. Here are the items I got: 1) Wagyu Burger with truffle fries: the burger was delicious. Nice and juicy and due to the meat quality you could choose the level of 'doneness'. I went with medium rare and was pleased. The whole experience was reminiscent of Zinburger when it was in Atlanta where the bun is a standout because it holds the entire experience together so you can eat without making a mess. Likely important if you're on a date with someone. 2) Georgia Peach Cobbler French Toast - the standout item. We're suckers for good peach cobbler anyways and the plate layout was fantastic. In particular, I recall the the creaminess and sweetness of the sauce as well as the fluffiness of the french toast. This was definitely the kind of item you eat and then have a nice Sunday nap afterwards. 3) Crawfish & crab mac and cheese - honestly, this item was disappointing from a price point. There wasn't a lot of crawfish or crab. I did like how they did the cheese crust but the side was also a lot smaller than I expected for $18. I should have checked but I assumed that it'd be more sharable. I'd try a different side next time. All in all, a strong experience with Flavor Rich. A gem of a brunch place in the heart of Midtown! Location and Parking Located in Midtown, parking is located directly to the right of the entrance. It is plentiful but NOT free. In fact, our server asked if we had paid for parking before she took our order. I suspect they've had issues with people being booted in the past, but we will not be among that number lol. Venue and Atmosphere The restaurant is small, but very clean and impeccably decorated. The bathrooms are all 1 stall and very pretty, with plastic flowers and vines adorning the walls. They have a salt scrub to accompany the liquid soap for washing your hands. The table has a QR code so you can pull up the menu. The tables feature gold cutlery and a rose sitting in a glass to be extra fancy. Service Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Food and Beverages My spouse and I ordered the fish (salmon) and grits, catfish and grits, and Champagne bottle; it was Valentine's Day so no expenses spared. The fish and grits consisted of decadent blackened salmon, over creamy grits with grilled tomatoes and sautéed spinach. The catfish and grits were also delicious, as the fish was fried to perfection over creamy grits with the perfect amount of seasoning. The champagne bottle came in a beautiful gold bucket, accompanied by peach and tropical juices, as well as lemonade to create your own perfect mimosa. Verdict I'll definitely visit again; Flavor Rich is rated 5 stars on Yelp which is extremely rare. They opened their first Brick and Mortar in 2020. Today they have 3 brick and Mortar locations (Atlanta, Suwannee, and San Antonio, TX). The website does provide details on very important need to know before you go info as follows: 1. They do NOT split checks 2. A 4% fee is addd to all checks that pay with a credit card 3. You can NOT make any modifications to the menu items 4. You can NOT return an item because you do not like it. 5. All checks greater than $100 and parties of 4 or more WILL include a 20% gratuity on the bill. A few items not noted, but should be known ahead of time: 1. They have a parking lot. The cost is $5.90 for 2 hours 2. There is an hour limit on your dinning table 3. If you make a reservation they immediately charge your card $5 per person. This payment will be applied to your bill. ( this was not done automatically for our party- we had to request it) The experience: I made a reservation for a party of 4 on a Friday for Sunday at 12:30pm. We arrived right on time and were seated as soon as we checked in. Our wait staff was a little delayed in coming to our table. It took about 15 minutes to be greeted by the wait staff. She went over all the rules I noted above! Since she took a minute to arrive we were ready to order when she arrived. They do not have paper menus. You simply use your phone to scan a QR code for the menu. Of note, they do not offer free water. They will sell you a bottle for $3. My party of 4 ordered 2 fish and grits, 2 chicken and waffles, a side of vanilla waffles, 1 coffee, and 1 bottle of water. I personally ordered the fish and grits. I asked for my salmon to be cooked medium rare. I was told that it would be noted, but there is no guarantee that my request would be accommodated. To my surprise the food took a while to come out! I was certain that nothing was being prepared to order given the statement that my request for medium rare salmon may not be accommodated. The food tastes amazing! I just have to give credit where credit is due. The salmon and grits were full of flavor. The waffles were accompanied by fresh fruit that looked amazing, powdered sugar, butter and syrup- they too tasted great. My friends that had the chicken and waffles enjoyed their meals too! Overall- food gets 10 stars! The chef is killing it! Service is good, but could be a little more attentive. The ambiance is nice! I loved all the art work of artist. I say if you plan accordingly, by car pooling, and paying in cash it's a win! Just be sure to understand all the rules before you commit to going! read more
