I sat at the counter cuz I was flying solo and had nice conversations with those next to me. The way the entire building is decorated is completely eye candy and as satisfying as the food. If you like crazy loopy, different kind of stuff. There's a specific coffee shop and small gift shop in the back with social & environmental conscious products. Even have a film development drop off that I guess locals take advantage of cuz where do you go for that anymore other than some kind of chain pharmacy?. I took pictures for my posting but also for myself to consider coming back and shopping another time. Several of the magnets and signs I would love to own. The food is plentiful and flavorful. I had the daily special of Georgia fresh shrimp sauteed on top of homemade sourdough that had a little bit of a French toast crispy to it, topped with roasted tomatoes and spinach and thin crispy onions that were well seasoned. Will start by saying this place is so affordable which is hard to find these days, and I appreciate the amount of vegan options! Service was slow, almost an hour to get our food and we came on a weekday morning (can't even imagine the weekend rush!). I ordered the country fried steak with scrambled eggs and cheese grits and that plate was the clear winner. Crispy tender cubed steak covered in rich brown gravy with perfectly cooked eggs and smooth grits. The fried green tomatoes were easily the best I have ever had. Perfectly fried and paired with an incredible horseradish ranch that we are still talking about. The biscuit with apple butter was warm, fluffy, and delicious. I also tried the salmon biscuit. The flavor was good, but the salmon patties leaned a bit too bready for my taste. He ordered the steak hash and even he admitted my country fried steak was better. But the steak hash was still Important allergy disclaimer. I have a mushroom allergy and it was noted on my receipt. They have a table all purpose sauce that tasted amazing to him. He checked the ingredients and found out it contains mushroom extract. I did not taste it and was thankful he asked. Their parking lot is pretty big but it was full when we arrived, but there's lots of free street parking nearby. Home Grown is a very cute, local breakfast spot. The ambiance makes you feel like you are at an old-timey diner with old newspaper reports and local decor on the walls. I have eaten here twice now. The first time was a few years back and the food was impeccable and very reasonably priced. However, I came back here recently (summer 2025) and was quite disappointed. The prices had gone up drastically (although to be expected in most places in Atlanta) but the quality went way down. The biscuits were dry and overcooked, the breakfast sausage tasted like it was straight out the freezer, and the eggs were very plain. Both my friend and I did not finish our meals. He got sausage and gravy, and he said it was mediocre. I am truly not sure if they were having an off day or if the quality has gone down over the years, but it makes me worried to try the place again. I got the Chicken and Waffle. The waffle is big I actually ate one piece of chicken and took two home with me. I sat at the counter initially there is plenty of butter at hand and napkins. The syrup tastes good also fried chicken is cooked good crispy. It's a lot of chicken on this waffle. I went back on 8-31-2025 for Shrimp and Grits to go. I never had shrimp and grits with this amount of veggies in it. There is onions and green and red peppers sliced or chopped. I tried it how it came the first time. From here on our when I get this dish I will tell them to hold the veggies. I like my shrimp and grits plain with out garnish etc in them.
