I absolutely love this salon! I have moved around to several different places and I think that most salons lack the customer service that you want out of a salon. Becca cuts and colors my hair and I couldn't be happier! She is easy to talk to and she got me a burrito last time I was there and forgot to eat before sitting in her chair for two hours plus!! I would never go anywhere else. The owner is super welcoming and you can tell the have good chemistry at the salon. It is super clean and the bathroom is very nice. didnt get a chance to even go into the salon. made appointment 2 days in advance and they call me 40 minutes before my appointment because the stylist is running over 2 hours late!!!!! im sorry but i had to get a baby sitter for my 2 year old and getting a haircut at 6 at night for an 8 year old on a school night! i think not, tried to ignore the other reviews on the stylist being late but i guess they were correct! So I get an email this morning from the receptionist telling me I'm wrong. She was 20 minutes late! So I got the phone call at 340 my appointment was at 430 and he tells me to come in at 545 let's add.... That's more like 2 hours not 20 minutes. Went to Jessica for the first time today, she was a referral from a friend. I'm always anxious when it comes to having someone new working on my hair. After reading that this salon had good reviews, I booked an appontment with Melissa to get micro bead hair extensions. I have had alopecia most of my life, and I was concerned about it being damaging to my thin hair. After being reassured multiple times that it was completely non damaging, I went for it. It was painful for the first 3 days... it felt so tight and was pulling my hair constantly. After 4 weeks of them being in, I went to a different hair salon to have them removed. During the removal, my hair dresser said there was a lot of breakage due to the type of extensions that I had, and how closely they had been installed to my scalp. By the time she removed all of my hair, over 50% of my hair had broken off. Melissa not only installed the hair incorrectly, she also lied about the damage it would cause. The stylist who took my hair out told me that the method she had suggested was actually one of the most damaging ones. When I texted Melissa, crying, about my hair loss, it took her 2 days to respond and she simply said that it's rare to have that happen. I spent over $500 for Melissa to completely ruin my hair, and it will take a long time to regrow the little bit that I had. I will never go back to this salon. read more

My 2 year old daughter and I came here a few months ago for feather extensions and the lady who helped us was really patient and helpful. I believe her name was Megan? The extensions were very affordable compared to other places and stayed on for a long time. Plenty of selections. I came here for the first time a few weeks ago and had Brittany V as my stylist. They offered us wine while we waited but we opted for tea instead. I haven't done anything special to my hair for the last year and a half and was ready for a makeover so we decided to chop off my hair (originally almost down to my waist), got solange highlights in them, and layered it a bit to add body and to help frame my face. I am super happy!!! Brittany was awesome, we chatted the whole time and not once was she pushy. Since this visit I've received a few comments about how nice my hair looks. My first time coloring my hair there and it was disappointed i didn't get the color i want. My natural hair is black, i want a golden brown look. It didn't look near golden brown at the end. She didn't bleach my hair before dying. She charged me $75. My hair look brown on the top and black on the bottom. R17 and Georgia make my hair happy. The friendly, easygoing staff create a comfortable atmosphere. I've heard great things about all of the stylists, but I'm loyal to Georgia. On my first visit she took time to do a thorough consult with me. Then, before cutting off a hair, she double checked that we both had the same definition of cutting off 2 inches. I tend to be a little lost about what to do with my hair, so I usually leave it up to Georgia. She does an amazing job. I've never walked away unhappy. At the end of my appointment we've chatted so much I feel like I just visited an old friend. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the spectacular neck massage she gives while washing your hair. I had gotten extensions from someone who did not know what he was doing at all and completely messed up my hair.....3 hours later she finally got all my extensions out...goop and all and saved my hair extensions I spent so much money on and it looked awesome!! My two stars are mainly because of the service. I thought I had found a salon near me that might be able to do what I wanted, however, I have been proven wrong. I had the living social coupon for the hair cut/ style and the coloring. I first was booked with Ashley. She did an O.K. job, but when I say caramel color that doesn't go brassy, I mean caramel highlights that don't turn to an orange brassy color. That didn't happen, I usually give a stylist two times before I decide to leave their service and find another salon if they aren't want I like. I'm extremely picky. Also I spent OVER 3 1/2 hours there.... this isn't a normal for me. I'm usually in and out of a hair salon within 1-2 hours with a cut, color and style. My second appoint with Ashley went something like this: I arrived at the salon for my appointment. There was no one at the front desk but another stylist took care of me. I told her I had an appointment with Ashley and she looked at me with a blank stare. She stated that I no longer had an appointment with Ashley and that I would be seeing another stylist. (It would have been nice to receive a call that the girl that I was going to was no longer there). After seeing the new girl, I decided that I liked her highlights and cuts much better. She was nice and did a decent job. Listened to what I wanted and made a caramel color that didn't turn a brassy color after a wash. So I made a second appointment with this girl. After my third visit to the salon I thought I had finally found a decent salon to go to since I just moved from San Diego.... apparently not. My fourth visit should have been in late February.... however, I found out by the stylist via Facebook that she no longer worked at the salon and the salon has not called me at all to see if I wanted to see another stylist. Their customer service is O.K. at best. And the turnover in the salon is something to be questioned. read more

Hmmm... I was on my way of writing a decent review until I read Sun K.'s review and realized how eerily SIMILAR my experience was. I got a perm by one of the stylist which resulted in my hair falling like crazy. I don't know if it's because my hair isn't used to the chemicals or if the stylist did a bad job. The stylist informed me that it was normal for a few strands to fall out the first 2 weeks but 3 months later, my hair is still falling. I went to multiple other salons who saw no evidence of a chemical burn. So naturally, I figure it was my hair's fault and not the stylist. However, Sun K. experience is nearly identical to mines which has me re-questioning things a little bit. However, to credit the stylist, she was very helpful after the process. She answered my lengthy voice mails thoroughly and answered my texts in a timely manner. I have been unable to go back to the salon after my second visit because I attend school elsewhere. All in all, R17 salon had a good customer service. I'm not too confident about their perm services though. I recommend trying other places for perms. read more

I followed Audra from her previous salon after finally finding a stylist who could cut my very fine very straight hair. She listens to my concerns and comes up with solutions. I currently have the best cut I've ever had in my 64 years. I want her to come with me when I move to Maryland next year but sadly she won't. I only made an account on here just to say how much I love Ginnymae! I had been going to a different salon for a little while and every time I left, I was less than pleased with the results. There was always something I was unsatisfied with: not the color I wanted, not the cut I wanted, color faded too quickly etc. My moms friend referred me to Ginnymae and I made an appointment. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the gorgeous Ginnymae herself as she led me to her station. She asked me what I was looking to get done to my hair, and I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I also shared with her my concerns about the problems I had been having with the previous salon . She understood my concerns completely and with that she gave me a few color swatches to look at and discussed what colors would look best with my skin tone as well as how my hair would handle the color. Then she got down to business. She was so relaxed yet focused and really fun to chat with. Once she washed, blow dried, trimmed and styled my hair, I looked in the mirror and absolutely LOVED what she had done! FINALLY I had found someone who knew how to deliver exactly what I wanted!
