When we are on Travel, we look for an Indian restaurant and to our surprise, this restaurant was a short walking distance from where we were staying. It is a total gem. The food was amazing. The service was wonderful and well worth the wait. If you don't like to wait, you will want to make a reservation, but otherwise the staff is very accommodating and service oriented. I love the food and customer service here so much that we came two nights back-to-back, and that alone should tell you something! A few things really stood out: The chana masala that comes with the samosas is OUTSTANDING. The fact that the samosas automatically come with chana masala is exceptional. The samosas themselves are huge, the dough is delicious, and the filling has so much flavor. Definitely not an afterthought here. And can we talk about the rice?! They give you a HUGE serving of rice with your curry. So many Indian restaurants charge extra for rice with a curry, and that annoys me to no end. Just build the rice into the price of the curry! Okay, rant over, because this place gets it right. The shrimp biryani gets an A+++. What impressed me most was that it didn't taste like they used one generic biryani base and tossed shrimp in after the order came in. It was obvious the shrimp had actually been cooked with the biryani, so the flavor was incorporated throughout. And they were NOT skimpy with the shrimp...there were shrimp throughout the entire dish. The people here are just as impressive as the food. Everyone is genuinely customer-centric, constantly checking in without being overbearing, and you can tell they actually care whether you're enjoying your meal. Honestly, everything we've tried has been good, hence us coming back the very next night! And DO NOT skip dessert. Get the gulab jamun with rose ice cream. Prob the best Indian food I have had in a while. Portion sizes are as expected for a sit down Indian spot. Flavor is undoubtedly fantastic only reservation is that they can't make anything not spicy so my kids were not able to enjoy the tandoori chicken drumsticks or some other dishes (finger linking good for me). The lowest spice is "mild". I am mostly writing this review because of the customer service experience. One female waitress (not hijabi) was very very rude in terms of her attitude when I asked her for bowls or various things for my kids and elderly in laws. They don't have bowls or spoons set out in their place setting and I expect if you are eating rice with a sauce/curry, you should be able to have that as part of the meal. When I asked for bowls, she brought my family tiny ramekins !!!!! when asked for spoons, she scoffed walking away from me to retrieve them before I could even barely finish my sentence. Customer service in dining is about checking in and making sure customers are well attended to and asking if there is anything they can get you. I also felt like when asking for to go containers, they skimped out on giving us black to go containers, only giving us multiple smallsize flimsy plastic cup like ones!!! When I asked how they expected me to pack bigger sized food, it was only then they brought out bigger to go containers (with a flimsy plastic bag to hold the several small containers). I felt like I constantly had to advocate and ask for things for my family. The customer service just felt very lacking in thought and attentiveness and honestly I felt a general sense of cheapness!!!! Also expect that you will feel rushed in your dinner process because they only have a limited number of tables. This place used to be one of my staples as I lived right next door and it was the perfect comfort food. Loved the butter chicken and chicken madras and the daal. However, I went recently with my family and was little dissatisfied. Ambiance and service is still great, however the food was not up to standards of Indian food in nova. We got the same dishes that I used to get but they did not taste fresh nor tasty. Chicken madras was too salty and the chicken in biryani was rubbery. Portion sizes were also small. I came with a specific craving for channa bhatura (or chole bhature), having not gotten it at the last Indian restaurant I visited. I found this place at the base of a mixed use development. It had garage parking nearby. My chickpeas were spicy as ordered, and came with two nicely puffed breads, and an array of pickled onions with a fried chili pepper. It was a proper rendition of the dish. Someone else ordered the same thing and asked for extra salt to dump on the chickpeas, which just baffled me. The flavor was ample. I also ordered a chai, and while they call it a cutting chai (which I understand to mean cut in half in size), it was a decent amount and a nuanced mix of spices. The owner was a little odd and was making calls to various tables and being kind of pushy such that it made one little girl uncomfortable to the point where her party complained about it, which was acknowledged by staff. I would advise them to put the customer's well-being first, but neither I nor the offended parties would seem to have any compunctions about coming back for the food. read more

Generally very lucky to live close enough to Bansari to visit as frequently as possible. After traveling and to London 4-5x it was hard finding similarly good Indian or "curry" as they call it in the DC area. This place is the closest thing to Dishoom in the UK. Butter chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala (CTM), garlic naan and daal are all phenomenal. The panipuri was probably my favorite item. I liked the side sauce which was more vinegary. Paneer tikka was also a great cheese dish. I was not a fan of the desserts. It has a strange chemical taste to it. But the best flavor was the rose ice cream. Also there's no specials for birthdays which is okay but I want other diners to know. Their drinks are stellar. The old fashion is super amazing and their house soda has mustard seeds in it and it was super delicious! The service was great for me but not perfect for a person in the group who was of Indian descent. I like spicy and he doesn't. I eat with my hands and he doesn't. The Kadai Goat is always tender and flavorful along with the rest of their dishes. The lassi and the drinks are always good. First off, I'd like to say that the Amritsari Tandoori Chicken Masala is probably one of the best Indian dishes I've ever had. The sauce had a touch of sweetness, but also a good amount of spice. I could drink the sauce honestly... The lamb curry was also tasty, but nothing can compete with the amritsari. The naan was also fantastic. We got two.. the garlic and cheese naan. I'm always a fan of garlic naan and get it every time I eat Indian food, but the cheese was also such a pleasure. The cheese naan was filled with peppers and they added a nice zing! We sat outside and it was a nice night so it was perfect. Cute little lights are hung around and it's honestly great for a date or cute friend's night out. And everything came out so fast! This has got to be the best North Indian restaurant in the DMV area. One of my friends is a regular here. He has been hyping this place for a while. So decided to drive to Vienna all the way from DC. A couple of them ordered mango lassi as well. You cannot go wrong with either. For apps, we ordered paani poori, dahi poori and Gobi Manchurian. These are some of the fan favorites. Paani poori was our favorite. We didn't like Gobi manchurian as much. I have had better ones else where. For entrees, we went crazy. We ordered their most popular dish - amritsari tandoori chicken masala. Absolutely delicious. They have nice chunks of chicken marinated for hours in their tandoori masala and then cooked to perfection. It's a must have if you're visiting this place. Next fav - the goat curry. Oh my. This reminded me of some of the best curries from my favorite restaurants in India. So authentic. Goat was very tender and delicious. Other images such as palak chicken, cholle and assortment of rotis were great as well. To end your meal, highly recommend trying the rose falooda. Mind blowing taste. A friend brought their "rajasthani laal maans" (goat curry in chili gravy) and I loved the curry so much that I had to get it again and try out other menu items as well. Fast forward to 2 years and we try to go here a few times a year. I love their biryanis, naans, their lamb and goat curries. My brother loves their chicken tandoori as well. On weekends it can get a little packed during dinner time and there might be a wait to get a table but we usually are able to get a table at other times during the week. Finally tried this place after waiting so long to! Really cute inside and small. This place was packed on a Tuesday, lots of families which was good to see and especially people of similar backgrounds to the cuisine. I would definitely bring my family here. The service was pretty fast and the food comes out quickly. I should have ordered mild since my tolerance is so low and medium was too spicy for me! However the food was great. I tried the Indian deviled eggs which were like curry deviled eggs and really good and interesting but not something I would order again. Then I tried the butter chicken and saag paneer. The flavors in both were delicious and also huge serving sizes! I would get the butter chicken with dark meat next time because the white meat was a bit dry. I found Bansari on Uber Eats and have been hooked ever since. Whenever my fiancé and I are craving something for our non-sober night, we usually opt for Bansari. Our go-to meal is always spot on--delicious the night of, and even better as leftovers the next day. We usually get the Amritsari Tandoori Chicken Masala (medium spicy), Garlic Naan, Raita (yogurt sauce), and Butter Chicken with Bone Delhi Special (also medium spicy). I tried the Amritsari with an extra level of spice once, but it was way too much for me. The jump from medium to hot was huge--I wish they had an option in between.. The Garlic Naan is my favorite by far (I've tried almost all of their naan options). They have varieties like cranberry & goat cheese, butter naan, truffle naan, and cheese naan.. I also tried their Pani Puri once, but it wasn't really my thing. It's neat that the food is ready for pick-up right by the door, so you don't have to walk all the way up to the front to ask for it. You can just park your car on the side, with your hazards on and pop in and out real quick. The service is always great too, they always greet you with a smile. I got a mango lassi and it was good but it had only a light mango flavor despite being so colorful. We ate family style as a group of four and got a bunch of stuff. We started with the Dahi batata puri and samosa chaat (my favorite). The puri was great and the samosa chaat hit the spot like it always does, I only wished I asked for an extra side of tamarind sauce to go with! I've always wanted to try Bansari since people have hyped up the restaurant to me for a couple years now. Bansari is near the strips of restaurants/cafes/shopping plaza near Dunn Loring metro station! My friend and I stopped by for dinner this past Monday since we were both craving Indian food. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was quite delicious. SAMOSA CHAAT - 10 This is a great appetizer to share! The flaky pastry of the samosa was perfect, which was filled with well-spiced peas and potatoes. The toppings (chickpeas, red onion, and some others) only added more flavor, which left my friend and I speechless while chowing down the food. We'd definitely recommend this! SAAG PANEER - 18 This was good, but maybe a bit too salty. Overall, the spinach puree was rich and the deep green color was very pleasing to the eye. Not a strong spinach flavor/taste, though. There was a good amount of paneer in the dish which helped with the saltiness. This was good, but would have been better if it was less salty. The rice and naan helped. BUTTER CHICKEN - 20 Wow, the flavor of sweet tomatoes was so prominent. Maybe a bit too sweet, but it lived a positive impression on both of us. The chicken (we asked for dark meat) was super tender and soaked up the creamy sauce well. Went well with the rice and naan, of course. GARLIC NAAN - 4.5 Overall, this was OK. The naan was a bit stale so it was on the hard side of chewy. Not too much garlic flavor, either. But hey, it worked in scooping up our saag paneer and butter chicken. The gentlemen who took my order was pleasant to deal with and he threw in free green chutney when I asked for it. Explored this weekend and was glad I did. We made a reservation so upon arrival our table wasn't ready. The gentleman said give him about 5 min. We did a race earlier in the day so my head was hurting really bad. I will tell you 5 minutes turned into more than 5 and it certainly wasn't 10 or 15. So we almost missed this quaint spot because again it was a quick call and you already know when I have to drive outside of Gorgeous Prince George's to experience culture I tend to not be happy. We started with the Gobi Manchurian Dry which is cauliflower in a chili garlic sauce. The overall texture was soft but the sauce was a bit salty. For mains, we shared the cheese butter masala and chicken madras and a side of garlic naan. The chicken madras was spicy but I wasn't a fan of the overall flavor...chicken was slightly dry. During my recent trip to Virginia, I was really craving some authentic Indian food. Luckily, my sister took me to Bansari Indian Cuisine, just a block away from her place. We tried a bunch of dishes like Dal Makhani, samosa chat, hakka noodles, manchurian gravy, chicken seekh, and kadhi pakoda. We also had some coffee and vegan cutting chai. I'd totally recommend this spot to anyone looking for real Indian flavors in the Virginia area. Oh, and if you're not into spicy food, go for the mild option - medium here is spicy! This is a great place for Indian cuisine. Stopped in for lunch with some work colleagues. We ordered extensively lots of apps and entrees. Highlights were the okra the cauliflower the garlic naan butter chicken and the famous panni puri Indian street food. We got three curries as well. Desert included Malay ice cream and a carrot based dish and masala chai tea for the finish. Walked out of here stuffed. Menu is extensive though they were out of a few things like Indian sodas.
