I had gone to many different therapies: many different PTs, chiropractic, Thai massage, and even another yoga therapist. Nothing seemed to work. Recently I saw a Groupon for three private yoga therapy sessions with Deborah. I decided that I had nothing to loose and went to see her. After only two sessions I had significant relief- no pain, no tightness, no numbness. For the first time in two and a half years I can walk normally. Deborah is about healing and her art is yoga. She uses a combination of physical, mental and spiritual coaching. She has a soothing presence and a grounded demeanor. Deborah works out of her apartment. Her fee is reasonable which makes it easier to afford to come weekly. I only wish I had known about Deborah two years ago!!

I have only been practicing yoga for a few months now, but this is the first time that I have felt aches in muscles along my upper body that I have been trying to target for some time now. She is wonderful at explaining the alignments one should make in their postures, and the flow from one posture to the next is set at a great pace. Within 15-minutes of the 75-minute private session with her, I was sweating profusely. All in all, it was an amazing yoga session, and she is absolutely a fantastic teacher.

They were some of the hardest classes I've ever taken and I left both inspired and a little defeated. I would only recommend a very hydrated and somewhat experienced person exercise here, it's not for the super newbies unless you take a teacher or class title that really helps beginners. That's my most honest advice because honestly, classes are intense here. The teachers and desk staff are friendly and the facilities were spotless. I feel like I have tried a pretty wide range of classes and teachers (my app says 170, but I have def passed 200), Stephanie, Aura, Marisa, Katie, Sarah, Eric, Auraceli, Tori, and Alexa. My body has personally seen the biggest change since taking Sculpt/Pilates classes consistently. The instructors always brings a fun, positive, welcoming energy. I feel like I get the most out of the class, with how hard I am working, not wasting time, and using the end to fully rest-which rarely happens in the city. I always leave feeling accomplished and well challenged, which I so love. Anyways who knows me, know's how much I love Bode and rave about it. Thanks for creating such an amazing studio space. However, the journey was really fluid at each transition with the assistance of Amanda's unflinching support. Amanda is very communicative from the start in wanting to know what kind of environment a Mom hopes to labor in, and she helps to honor that vision throughout. She is calming under pressure, and encouraging when you need reinforcement. Her energy is positive without fail! Her comfort techniques are creative and truly help distract from pain and fear. She was an indispensable factor in the pre-partum, labor, and even postpartum experience for myself, my husband, my son, and our tiny new friend :)

I've been to two different instructors and the first just didn't seem to care that much (carrying a latte and sipping it in class while walking around) and another is just saying nonsensical things that don't really resonate with us... This UWS location is so much cleaner than the UES location…read more This one is also less crowded and there is always a lady that cleans the bathroom, keeping it fresh all the time. The yoga rooms and sitting areas are also very quiet, spacious and serene. Exactly what you would want and expect in a proper yoga studio. The classes are also so much better compare the the others I tried in NYC. Not even equinox or humming puppy can compare as they are always crowded since they try to fit as much people as they can in one room, many times in equinox or humming puppy my neighbors finger tips or sweat would fly by and hit me during yoga moves and the bathrooms are always filthy due to the high numbers of people. Even in Pure Yoga UES, you might get a bit over crowded sometimes, but so far the UWS has been great for me, always clean, serene and lots of space to stretch, meditate and just breathe. The only downside is that it is a bit pricy and often don't offer promotions or membership discounts like the other yoga places, however if you are seeking for a fantastic yoga experience I would say it's too worth it if you are in the UWS area and don't have a yoga studio in your home.
