I would not recommend seeing Dr. Kushner. My experience with this office was very frustrating due to how incredibly slow and disorganized everything felt. I sat in the waiting room with my daughter for over 35 minutes past our scheduled appointment time without any communication or update from the staff. After waiting well beyond our appointment time, I got up and told the front desk that I was leaving, and there was no apology, concern, or attempt to address the situation. Since when does a self pay procedure require a copay? Yes, that's what this doctor is about. It gets better.. she'll tell you to come back for a follow up, just to collect another copay then tell you all over again to come back for another follow up, without even doing the follow up treatment that she promised. Every follow up means new billing! She did a dry freeze on my back and told me to come back in 2 weeks for a follow up, "no charge." My procedure required 8 weeks to fully dry before I should have been told to come back. She really meant I'll get you for multiple copays. I hated being scammed this way. Hate to sound cliche, but if I could give 0 stars, I would. Don't understand where the positive reviews come from. Maybe they're entered into a drawing for a basket of skincare products Brought my son there because his acne was flaring up. As I'm filling out paperwork, there's a section dedicated to providing your credit card info. What is this for, you ask? Well, when insurance will only cover part of your visit, this gives them the authority to just go ahead and charge your card. How convenient. I did NOT provide my credit card info nor sign this section. Why give that when you have insurance? Follow me, if you will, to the front desk to hand in our papers. The receptionist then tells me that I have a $200 copay. I tell her we don't have copays on our insurance and anything insurance doesn't cover gets billed. She then explains that it's their "office policy" to collect up front. My son really needs to see the dr, so I put it on my card. I text my ex who is the primary name on my son's insurance to tell him what's going on. He calls them and they give him the whole speech about office policy and also tell him that part of that money is a "new patient fee". I was never told that. She told him that if I am owed any money, I can call them back with my card info and they will issue a refund. Insurance can take months. Off we go into the exam room. The PA (I guess) takes our info. At this point, our 6pm appointment is approaching 7 pm. Dr Kushner comes in, talks to my son, finds out history, looks at his face, etc. Nothing spectacular. She's going to prescribe some medications that have to be filled at this special mail order pharmacy that she uses because "brand names are better". What? I have NEVER in my life had a Dr or a pharmacist say that. I'm thinking this woman must have some special interest in this mail order place. I ask if insurance covers this pharm and was told by PA that they should, or if not, they have discounts. Why did they ask for my local pharmacy info? Look at other reviews. We are not alone. Then, Dr Kushner goes on to talk about doing some type of peel for my son and I can find out fees at front desk. Ummmm....I don't think so. Exam took about 10 minutes. We go to front desk to schedule follow up appointment (which I am going to cancel, but make sure it's more than 24 hours, because more money, more money, more money!) and I ask "Will I be charged again for next visit?" I am told yes, because (come on, say it with me) IT'S THEIR OFFICE POLICY to collect ahead. But no worries, because we probably met our deductible and it will only "be something like 20%". I told her that I have never been to a doctor that does this and once again "office policy". I told her I need my money, but who cares? Do NOT go to this Dr. What is the purpose of insurance if they're going to make you pay ALL up front? Why take insurance? Sad thing is, I got her name from Blue Cross' list of doctors in the network. I feel stupid for giving her my card and should've just said I didn't have it on me, but would she have turned us away? I honestly think this money-hungry female dog would. I couldn't agree more with the reviews of a rating of 1.. I have never had a doctor ever require a card number for any extra copays or deductions.. If there was a placs to input a zero, that would be my response. Front desk staff was very professional. However my name was called by a dermatologist student ; who had no upbeat nice personality to her at all. I explain to her what I was experiencing & she simply advises the PA would be in shortly. Sure enough I sit waiting for about 20 - 25 minutes. The PA finally arrives who asked me to explain again what I was experiencing; I explained. She asked me to lift my glasses to simply look from a distance and advised me to put Aquaphor on the direct spot that looked "burned" ( that wasn't even the area ; I was referencing when I gave my initial reason for visit ) - She told me aquaphor in the matter of being in the room for 2 minutes and advised the next visit in 2 weeks she would address my other concerns. Oh no! PA NIKITA there will not be a next visit. DO NOT RECOMMEND. She rushed. Did mot address my actual concerns. Was not pleasant or warm spirited or seem like she cared at all. DO NOT GO HERE. All I can say is do not go here if you are looking for cosmetic treatments. I went here for lip fillers, although the doctor is very nice I felt as if I was rushed that you really didn't pay any mind to me when I was explaining to her my expectations. I also was very specific in telling her that I did not Restylane in my lips that I had used it many years ago and the result only lasted maybe 2 or 3 weeks. So what did she put in my lips? Yes Restalyne! She used about three-quarters of the syringe on my first visit and told me to come back for my follow-up in about 2 weeks which is normal. After the first week I noticed that when the initial swelling went down my lips looked as small as they were when I walked in there so I called and I spoke with her physician assistant also a very nice girl who could not make a decision on her own to do the procedure all over again. I felt as if they should have gotten me the product I wanted I'm not charged me again. Oh did I mention I paid them $650 for this so Nikita the assistant told me that I would have to come back and speak to the Doctor Who did the injection. I went back I spoke with Doctor Kushner who put the remaining quarter of the syringe in my lips and gave me a lip flip which also did not take. I feel as if she owes me money back. Oh and if I didn't mention I also showed her a spot on my nose which she identified as a spot sunspot okay so this is common I am 58 years old and it's kind of expected but she sold me a product for $75! That has not worked at all after 3 weeks of using it. There was no label on the jar only the doctor's name and telephone number to advertise her business. I'm extremely upset that I did not get any result after $650! Even a friend of mine went here and all they did was sell him product and he still had no result he ended up having to go to another dermatologist in Long Beach who took care of his concern oh and the physician's assistant also misdiagnosed what was wrong with him. I'm usually not the type to complain and I felt really bad having to go back to her oh, but it was a lot of money and I'm sorry I still feel as if she should have given me a whole new syringe of the product I wanted which was Juvederm. read more

I had a wonderful experience at Kushner Dermatology. I'm writing this in the middle of the Coronavirus epidemic. The office was clean and the staff was kind and super attentive. They also had great giveaways if you like their page on Facebook! I was really lucky to find this gem in Franklin square. If you're looking for a dermatologist in Nassau country, do not hesitate. I had a wonderful time with the PA Nikita who saw me at Kushner's Franklin Square office. She was quick and personable. HOWEVER, I had a terrible experience with the secretary and the MA. I had not received my medication the day of the visit despite me calling twice. The next day, I called and the secretary told me to "have patience." Omg this place really tested my patience you have no idea. The PA Nikita was really nice and knowledgeable. She was a sweetheart. The difficulty came after my appointment. They always want patients to use a speciality pharmacy and i think its because they get an incentive for using them. However, they dont accept my insurance with most medications with these pharmacies. So I requested sent to the my cvs pharmacy in BELLEROSE NY. They sent it to the Floral Park CVS first. Then I called again and they sent to it the Bellerose one but they only sent one medication. Then i call again to ask for the second medication to be sent. Still there was no help from this office. They keep not sending my medication and wanting me to use this specialty pharmacy saying that i would pay less with the specialty. Again why I think they get a kick back from using those pharmacies. Then again I had keep calling my pharmacy back and forth seeing if they sent my medication. It was exhausting even my pharmacy was getting frustrated. Long behold, after the whole run around they said my medication needs a preauthorization from my insurance. What a disaster?! Dont these people understand my neck is inflamed and I need my medication. This is not fair that these people act like they dont care about me. I need my medication asap. My neck is so inflamed from eczema and irritation from the sun. Its absolutely ridiculous! I would never return to this dermatologist. It seems like they only want money. Also, they have crazy policies like we dont bill the copays and if you cancel under 24 hrs they make you pay. Its absolutely insane. I would never return here. You have lost a patient. READ!!!! PLEASE!!!! This 5 star review is for PA Maggie only!!!!!! Dr. Kushner is horrible. I'm so sad this practice is under her name, while Maggie is affected by dr kushners horrible reviews. If Maggie leaves, I will follow her. It was only by chance that I met Maggie, when two previous visits were to Kushner- she will not look at anything- I told her I had a recurring rash, she wanted to give me cream samples. She gave me samples for acne since my insurance didn't cover acne due to age.. apparently that's only a teen thing! Kushner did manage to get me to buy her products. All about money. When I did get to see Maggie by chance, she found out Kushner only gave samples and she managed to do something with a company that sent me all the required prescriptions she wanted me on!!! Delivered to my door no charge!!! Wow someone actually working for their patient!!! Here's the real kicker- I just left a follow up appointment with Maggie, because I insist on seeing her now after one visit.. and mentioned the rash I had, showed pictures and she says, "ID LOVE TO BIOPSY THAT. Take our card and the second it comes back call me!! I will get you in!" Not because she's worried, because she cares and because she WANTS TO DIAGNOSE ME AND HELP ME. SHE DOESNT WANT TO GIVE ME CREAM SAMPLES OR EVER MENTIONED ANY PRODUCT TO BUY!! I will only see PA Maggie, besides everything I've already said about her work ethic, her character is so sweet and genuine. You will be lucky if you get a smile from Kushner and walk out of the office with any recommendation besides buying something. This office is AMAZING !! I struggled with cystic acne for years. I had to cake on make up and I was so self conscious. I tried proactiv , facials and at home remedies . Nothing worked !! I was hesitant to go to a dermatologist because i had heard horror stories . I finally listened and made an appointment with Dr. Kushner's office . I saw PA Nikita. She provided a simple skin care regimen and in one month, my face was clear ! It was like magic ! I don't even have to wear makeup anymore . I should have seen her a long time ago !! They are super quick, very attentive and caring ! MA Courtlynn is amazing and so nice ! The front desk is great , I was able to get same day appointments. I will continue to follow up with them. DO NOT COME TO THIS PRACTICE! What everyone is saying about her here is true! Dr. Rachel Kushner might be good at diagnosing and treating patients, but that doesn't make her a good person overall. She doesn't care about helping her patients and instead cares more about making money. I was a patient going through topical steroid withdrawal and on the edge of emotional turmoil, and was seen by her as a target to exploit to better her business. She sold me her products and they MADE MY SKIN WORSE!!! When I tried to complain and ask for a refund, she was rude and refused to acknowledge my concerns. She didn't help me and instead ran away!!!! I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs because of the way she handled my situation and the way she treated me during this difficult time that I'm going through. My son recommended this dermatology office, specifically PA Nikita. She has a calming presence and was very knowledgeable as I had many different issues. In my past experiences the freezing method to remove warts has been painful. But with PA Nikita she had a very gentle touch and it was not painful at all. Her diagnosis were on point as my rashes have begun to clear up already. I will go back to Dr. Kushner's office again. read more

Cons: does not have real treatments for skin issues, isn't up to date with technology or treatment for colored skin. Went to see Dr. Kushner for some cystic acne I had been dealing with for a few years. I loved how conveniently close she was located to me. I went for a full body check as well. My sisters derm checks all of her beauty marks & such with a machine. I brought it up to the Doctor and she seemed surprised they had such a thing. I continued with my appt which felt like 5 mins long. She sprayed some air on my face and then prescribed me some gel cream which dried my face out & was expensive. She also had me purchase a cream from her skin care line which was also a bit pricey. I then received a bill from her office for my deductible, which i figured i would receive for my consultation but she also charged me for "surgery" that i did not have. 1st time- made an appointment for a cool sculpting consultation. I check in and they run my insurance and ask me for a co-pay (which I thought was weird because I was only there for a consultation- but I said okay maybe because I have to see the doctor) the PA comes in and I tell her I just had a baby 3 months ago and I'm just looking to tighten up my stomach without surgery. She keeps explaining the treatment to me... ten minutes later a medical assault comes in to measure me and we start talking and she tells me that you need to be 1 year postpartum - the procedure can ripped you abdomen wall - how did the PA Not tell me that ??? Okay whatever they give me my copay back 2 weeks later I get these cysts on my arm so I make an appt. I get there and they tell me I don't have an appt mind you I have the text they send to confirm. The lady at the front was sweet and said it was there mistake and it's not a problem so I see the PA again and she was nice and put me on antibiotics and a topical cream. Great it worked! Here's where my issue comes in. I go back in a week for a follow up and I see Dr. Kushner. I waited almost an hour past my time and she walks in, she's goes so why are you here?! So I tell her... mind you my cysts cleared up - she DOES NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT! She tells me she is prescribing me these stronger antibiotics and walks out. I really liked Dr. Kushner at first. She was attentive, suggestive, gave me some samples of topicals she thought might be useful for me. I was very pleased with her. As time went on & continued to see her, she started to try to sell me products from her skin care line, which I did purchase in the beginning more & more. Then I decided to get some laser treatments, which were expensive but she charged me $100 less after each one, for a package of 3 treatments. At the end of them, not mush of a difference was made, so she offered to treat a few more areas for free (suggested really). When I went back for them, she sent me home THREE times in a row saying my skin looked blotchy & I should come back after using a mild face. It sounded strange & I thought my skin looked fine, but I did as she said. Finally when I came back & got the treatment, I ended up being partially charged for it! The receptionist told me I should be grateful for what I was charged compared to the actual price of it & Dr. Kushner would not come out & talk to her. Apparently she was busy. So I guess the appointments I got sent home after & my partial payment ended up paying for the "free" treatment. Unbelievable. After having her as my derm for 3 yrs, never went back. read more

Really? because my cell phone doesn't take msgs, but they certainly could have sent me a text msg which they did not. I was then told today was the "doctors holiday" which I guess she didn't know when I booked the appointment. Recently started seeing another dermatologist for Botox for the under arm....since everything is covered by insurance there is NO COPAY! Prior to this I was seeing Kushner, This doctor is MONEY HUNGRY! I paid 400-500 bucks out of pocket due to "covering her injection costs". I questioned the charge but was always brushed off, or given some excuse as to why there was a cost even though my insurance paid for it. She needs to be reported to the BBB. Had the absolute worst experience of my life at this horrendous dermatologist. Over the summer I stumbled upon this doctor because I was suffering from hair loss. I needed answers and after MONTHS of dealing with the PA I had never seen the doctor. I was told by the PA that I needed to get steroid shots in my scalp. Had two rounds of painful shots with NO IMPROVEMENT. I decided I needed to see Dr.Kushner. I waited over an hour to see her ( because she for some reason is never in her own office) and once I went in she was rude, dismissive and unprofessional. She basically looked at me and said I was fine. She actually asked why I was even getting the shots. She completely ignored my mother who was asking questions about my condition and rushed out. She told me that I actually never needed the PAINFUL SHOTS I WAS RECEIVING!!! I paid for this shots as well. WASTE. Thanks for letting me know months later. Afterwards I was extremely upset and she told me that " I'm just another patient" and can't remember all of them. Long story short she is the worst doctor I have ever come across.
