    Cheesecake Kringle

Cheesecake Kringle: A Kringle is a large circular Danish pastry with flaky dough, covered in icing, & filled with fruit, nut, or other more unique flavors. After doing a little research I've learned that sadly, Kringles are not widely spread throughout the U.S. It turns out that Racine, WI is actually the epicenter for Kringles. Racine Danish Kringles is a third-generation family bakery and they utilize the same recipe Danish bakers brought to WI in the late 1800s. Fun fact, Kringle is the official state pastry of Wisconsin. Even though I'm a Wisconsinite, I don't indulge in Kringles too often. The reason for that is although Kringles frequent work breakrooms and all manner of parties, they're usually a fruity variety (yuck! my loyal followers know I'm not a big fan of fruit in desserts). When I do go for a Kringle, I prefer varieties stuffed with caramel, chocolate, ect.... This brings us to the Ingenius variety I have today, cheesecake! Unlike the disappointing/gross fruity flavors I tend to spot at gatherings, this one is filled with a delicious cream cheese and graham filling. I didn't detect much of a graham flavor, but that was fine because the sweet cream cheese filling more than made up for it. This is one of the best tasting Kringles I've had in recent years. I ordered two green and gold Kringles as a gift to people who were hosting me at their home for the Green Bay Packer game. When they showed me the Kringles they received I was very embarrassed. The Kringles looked nothing like the photo. They were flat and soggy and seemed like they were not baked enough. I sent a picture to Racine Kringle and they offered to send a different flavored Kringle. It was too late for that, the party and the game were over. They also responded that my picture looks like their website picture. It did not. If you are ordering as a gift, please choose another company and save yourself the embarrassment. Here is a pic of the Kringle they received vs a picture from their website.

My husband's boss is from Wisconsin and told us about the "kringle". I thought for a special occasion I would order and have them as a treat. I took the blueberry to my mother in laws and it was gone before I had a chance to take a picture but it was AMAZING! I saved the chocolate eclair and pecan for Christmas morning. It shipped to Alabama and arrived the date I requested (lucky for me this year!) we put them in the freezer as directed for the 3 day period in between receiving it and going to eat it. If they were better before they were frozen then all I can say is OMG. This is not something I can afford to do often, but for special occasions this will be my new go to!

    Kringle! Yum!

State pastry! There are several Racine bakeries making this delish Danish pastry but the ones at Racine Danish Kringles are top in my book! You can't go wrong with flaky pastry, a plethora of filling options and sugary glaze on top.

Happy Morning! Better than coffee cake!

This bakery…read moreis a throwback with old glass cases showcasing hand made kringle and other bakery delights. We did a taste test between O&H pecan kringle versus Bendtsen's. They both had different qualities so there wasn't a clear winner. Bendtsen's is flakier and drier than O&H with larger pecans. O&H had more moisture, smaller pecan pieces and a sweeter frosting. Bendtsen's also serves more traditional flavors and doesn't make a Tipsy Elf like O&H which BTW is delicious. They are within a couple of miles of each other so next time you're in Racine it's worth trying them both.

Summer of 2025, QVC was in Racine filming for the Racine Kringle brand and the crew (my sister is a part of) made it a point to try all three in a taste test. Bendtsen's won! They are still handmade unlike their competition. It's a cute little shop and the lady working (not sure her name) was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We could tell she was proud to work there. There were several flavor options left that weekend afternoon and it came highly recommended by my sister to try the spinach and cheese pastry. Ask for it warmed up, delicious!

Well, here we are again. Another birthday month and a big thank you to Ohlaf for the discount…read more I may have found my favorite Kringle flavor - Salted Caramel! I saw it as a new seasonal flavor that could be ordered for delivery right up until my birthday. The only problem I was running into was that my wife was giving up sweets again for Lent, which was starting before my birthday. Rather than saving her a frozen piece until Easter, or not sharing it with her at all, I scheduled it to be delivered today, a Friday, so we could enjoy it over this weekend. Now the only question is whether it will even make it to the weekend. I don't know how to explain how delicious it is other than to say the flavor of the chopped pecans on top along with a blended sprinkling of coarse salt and sugar are just an introduction to your palate in preparation for you to next enjoy the caramel filling oozing out of your warmed slice. Or should I say SLICES? You know you can't stop at just one. Oh, so good. I hope this new flavor will return for years to come.

It's a classic Danish pastry made into seven rolls - rich, buttery & flaky with a smooth almond custard filling topped with a sweet glaze & almonds. From their website they say, " this coffee cake is named from a prominent constellation of stars that the Danish sailors used for seafaring navigation". The coffee cake made for a delicious breakfast & a great treat!

The Bjorn: O&H Danish Bakery opened in 1949 and has been family owned for four generations…read more Although they're known primarily for their Kringles, their sweet roll of the month for April is the Bjorn. Bjorn means bear in Danish, which is an appropriate name for this treat that resembles a bear claw pastry. O&H's sweet roll is filled with cream cheese and a strip of rich chocolate. Additionally, it is dipped in silky chocolate and finished with a honey glaze. It may be a "bear claw", but this thing was like an elephant's foot, it was massive! My taste buds were enthralled by the perfect combination of sweet and salty (there's pinches of it on the honey glazed portion). Although the filling is thin, looks can be deceiving as it packs more than enough flavor. The portion glazed in honey's flavor reminded me a bit of honey twist pretzels, while the texture of the chocolate end evoked memories of a dipped cone. Texturally the pastry itself is pleasantly chewy. I'm not a hunter, but if literal bear claws tasted like these then I'd be the next Theodore Roosevelt. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews
