My husband had left…read morehis hiking boots at home, and since our trip involved a lot of hiking...we were sort of screwed. To make matters worse? He wears a size 16. Not exactly the easiest size to find in a pinch. Tonquin didn't have size 16 either-- but the super, super helpful guy working there understood our dilemma, and gave us a recommendation of where we COULD find a size 16, in exactly the type/brand of shoe we were looking for. He saved us from driving around all day to every Famous Footwear trying to find something that might work. So. Although I didn't end up buying anything at Tonquin, I was really impressed (and grateful!) by their "can't-get-it-at-Macy's-get-it-at-Gimbels" attitude, which saved our vacation. If I go back (and I loved the area...I'm already planning my next trip), I'd totally patronize Tonquin with my outdoorsy needs!

We stopped by the Seaside Factory Outlets because they were right on the way home, nice and convenient! This outlet mall is definitely smaller than others I've seen in Oregon, but it served its purpose for me as I had my eyes set on a few stores, and a few stores only - Carter's, Bath & Body Works, and Nike. What can I say, I'm basic. We ended up not checking out Nike because we had our 2 year old with us and the line was HUGE (due to COVID-19). Bath & Body Works was doing an awesome job of getting everybody in and out, providing waters and hand sanitizer, and even had bags already set up for people to place their future purchases inside to just take straight to the register and get rung up! And of course, we spent $100+ at Carter's. Another pleasant surprise at this outlet is the Wine & Beer Haus. Awesome service, great selection, and you can even enjoy a drink inside at the little countertop bar. Highly recommend going in if you've got the time. All in all, worth stopping by if you're nearby.

Exceptional craftsmanship, very fair prices, cannot recommend enough!…read more I had some moc toe boots that I had worn the heel way past time for repair, but I wasn't sure if they could be done because the shoe has a 'foam like' material on the bottom. Dude did an AMAZING job making the new rubber sole fit with the original shoe. They look BRAND NEW (and these are shoes I've worn heavily for a few years). I had also worn the heel unevenly and he perfectly fixed them.
