I really trust her recommendations - they're always thoughtful and top notch, never excessive or "salesy." She's proactive and good at catching and addressing issues early, which I really appreciate after having dealt with dentists that were more "reactive" in the past that ended up being much more painful and expensive long term. Nothing is worse than waking up with a toothache and throbbing pain that could've been prevented earlier! I moved to Chicago 2 years ago and have been very hesitant to find a dentist, as I really wanted to find someone that I could trust. Thankfully, a few friends who I know in the area had already been to and recommended Dr. Desai to me. I hadn't been to the dentist in 2 years and (I think) my teeth are prone to cavities/root canals because of my genetics, so I had more cavities than I'd like to admit. For one of my teeth, she wasn't sure if it was a root canal or if it just needed a crown. She tried the less invasive method first and gave me a temporary crown to rule out a root canal. When I didn't experience any pain, I ended up getting a permanent crown. However, afterwards I started experiencing consistent pain that kept getting worse by the day. I was able to book an appointment quickly and Dr. Desai referred me to an endodontist (Vertex in Roscoe) and I was able to quickly resolve the issue and get a root canal. She made sure that I would get an appointment quickly so I wouldn't have to be in pain for too long, even telling me to call her if I had any issue getting an appointment with them (which thankfully I didn't!). I really appreciated her method of trying the less invasive method first, even if I did eventually have to get a root canal - that's just what I prefer. She is a very caring and trustworthy person and I would recommend anyone to her. I get pretty anxious at the dentist and she's never made me feel like I'm overreacting or impeding on the process, and instead is very patient and attentive. Polished is a fantastic Orthodontist office. My husband and I sought a place to give us an consultation on the likelihood that Invisalign would work for us because our dentist wasn't sure. The consultation was covered by my insurance so there was nothing to lose by going into the office. When I first arrived I knew they were taking the Covid precautions very seriously. They require the standard Covid questionnaire prior to coming into your appointment and take your temperature when you arrive. But they also provide you sanitized Crocs, leave your belongings in the front cubby, and require you to wash your hands before going to the back. I luckily was able to qualify for Invisalign along with my husband. Due to my crappy dental insurance it didn't cover the cost of the program but the office offered a discount if both my husband and I did the program together. Saving a little was better than nothing so I started the program in late October. They offer two plans for their Invisalign program, pay off all in full or pay a down payment and pay monthly payments. They offer a little bit more money off if you can afford to pay all up front. I really like that they try to work with you. I am happy that I am doing the program at the same time as my husband because they always pair our appointments and we are on a similar program. I like that they make us feel like family instead of a customer. The primary orthodontist is very friendly along with the rest of the staff. They are always willing to answer any questions that I may have regarding my treatment plan. I highly recommend going in at least for a consultation. read more

Ruined my tooth. Pain didn't go away for 2 months after they put unnecessary filling. Had to go to different dentist because of constant pain, they looked on X-rays before and after and said there was no need for filling at all so they simply ruined my tooth and now I need to get rid of this tooth because I suffer from pain on daily basis and place implant! I did not have a good experience at Polished. I recently changed jobs and thus, new insurance. I tried Polished as I needed a new dentist. Unfortunately, when I went for my initial exam, they said I needed a deep cleaning ... something I had already had done at my prior dentist. What made matters really bad was when they immediately handed me a price breakdown of this service, as though it was made in anticipation of the exam and something they do for every new client. It felt like a complete insurance billing maneuver. The worst part is that they didn't even give me regular cleaning or polish or anything. They literally just took X-rays, gave a cursory look in my mouth, and then told me I needed an expensive procedure done. I did not feel comfortable whatsoever. In fact, I felt so uncomfortable that I decided to go back to my previous dentist and simply pay out-of-network. While this costs more, it wasn't worth what I went through at Polished. And when I told the story to my previous dentist, they 100% said I did NOT need a deep cleaning and agreed it sounded like an insurance maneuver. Recommended unessential services that I was hesitant to to do, but decided to do it because I was told it was covered by my insurance. They did not tell me for almost 2 years that my insurance was refusing to cover it...because they were "working with my insurance company" So I had to pay out of pocket for almost 2 years of unnecessary services. And did not find any of this out until I was handed an invoice for over $500. This office is not to be trusted. They are a money first, patient second organization. read more

Polished is the best dentist office I have ever been to. They have weekend appointments, are extremely quick, and they always do a great job. They have filled my cavities in the spot twice now (so I don't have to make a return trip). The staff is very friendly, and the office is pleasant. I see Dr. Desai and she's always super pleasant and funny. I enjoy that they can take my x-rays while I'm seated. Bonus: the chairs have massagers in them. tldr: horrible painful experience, lying office managers and debt collectors Went a few years ago upon moving to the city. I had to get some crown work done, for which I prepaid in full. The pre-work appointment was nightmarish, taking upwards of 3-4 hours, I could feel everything and they just kept saying you shouldn't feel anything. This was excruciating pain - eventually they gave me what I believe to be an additional epinephrine shot for the anesthesia, and I had a panic attack as they continued away in my blocked up mouth. After this, I said I would not be going back for the crowns as I did not feel safe in the chair. I spoke to the office manager, who agreed to a refund for the services not yet rendered, but when I tried to actuate the refund, they did not accept. I charged back to my credit card, who ruled in my favor, and then Polished sent me to debt collectors - who are still erroneously hounding me for services not rendered. Services that polished themselves agreed to refund. I would recommend a few other dentists in chicago where I had the same procedures completed without the attached nightmare - Modern Dentistry (on Division) and ORA dentistry are both lovely. read more

Had the pleasure of interacting with all of the doctors at Polished. Dr. Desai pulled four teeth about 2 years ago to prepare me for my braces. Never had teeth pulled and was pretty nervous, but she and her assistant made the experience as pleasant as it possibly could have been. Dr. Grosse is just as knowledgeable and friendly. I also had braces put on by Dr Wiseman. He explained everything beforehand and during the whole process (2 years a 2 months) very thoroughly. Extremely patient, especially when I didn't wear my rubber bands as instructed (why it took a little longer than it should have). Before the braces, I could fit almost both of my thumbs in between my top and bottom teeth when I bit down. Now, there's hardly any space except for a slight overbite that's caused by my top jaw being a little bit larger than my bottom jaw. The profile of my face has been completely transformed (in the best way possible) and I couldn't be happier with the results. I highly recommend this office-from the front desk receptionists all the way back to the doctors. Everyone is absolutely wonderful and will do their best to make sure you are completely satisfied. read more

Dr Brady did a coronectomy on me yesterday and I have to say.. his level of care was exactly what I needed. I was extremely nervous and almost ready to cancel my appointment because I was so scared the night before so I called the studio. He called me that night and explained everything. Hearing his voice helped.. it was hard not knowing who would be ripping out my tooth because I had never met this man.. Thank you, Dr. Brady.. it really makes a difference in people's lives when you clearly care about them and check in on how they're doing. I also have learned this from training to be a health care professional myself. It makes such a difference. I didn't feel like just another patient that he wanted to speed through. Came here about a year ago when I saw their ad in yelp and their coupon book in my mail. Only thought about it today because I'm yet again looking for a new dentist. My stay in Chicago was just around a year, but these guys were awesome. The facility was clean. The hygienists were polite and welcoming. It was easy to make an appointment. There were no issues with payment or acceptance of insurance. I met for an initial consultation and cleaning with Dr. Gina Grosse. She was very prompt in seeing me, very gentle in treatment, and was able to explain issues/corrections that she deemed necessary in ways that didn't seem too technical, gentleman...shes married.. haha. I went back for my teeth whitening bonus, the hygienists made sure that I understood the process and that my mouth was going to feel like a desert... but within an hour I was done. If I ever make it back to the Chicago area, I'm glad that I'll have a dentist and staff I can return to without having to research all over again. read more

I'm terrified of dentist! Seriously ... TERRIFIED! Dark, Frankenstein-like offices, with mad scientist waving a barrage of scary devises at you. All of this, of course, after you've been securely strapped onto a "reclining table," which at best, resembles a padded iron maiden ... no, not the band ... and all of this horror, and from a distance, you bare the sounds of "drilling", "grinding" and the screams of other poor souls as they waft into your cell. But recently the dark clouds parted, the sun shinned through, and the heavenly gates opened, as I was introduced to, "Polished, A Dental Studio," and the angelic, Dr. Trupti Desai. Because of an extended stay outside of the United States ... and other less glamorous and nefarious events ... my teeth were in serious need of examination and detailed attention, and Lo and Behold, I was fortunate enough to be directed to Polished, and I could not be any more thrilled nor fortunate. Dr. Desai, along with her wonderful team, were supportive, informative, thoroughly professional and gracious. And after a few visits ... well, let's just say a, "few" ... my teeth, gums, and associated soft tissues, are not only pretty to look at, but I can chew gum, aggressively rip meat from a bone with my teeth, drink liquids without soiling my shirt, and whistle again. From the warm and genuinely congenial receptionist greeting, through my consultations, recommendations ... not to mention the very catchy and toe-tapping tunes playing in the background during each visit ... I'm now the owner of a beautiful and healthy smile and healthy orifice, and truly cannot recommend Polished, A Dental Studio highly enough. What I liked about Dr. Desai is that she had a very real conversation with me and I felt like for a moment, she was a colleague rather than a doctor. She was realistic about what makes teeth the way that they are, (in my case, how teeth grinding typically is the result of stress we may not even realize we have), and I like how nothing that she said seemed "practiced" or "scripted", you know, when dentists have repeated the same things over and over again no matter who you are or how old you are. Our conversation was very specific to my appointment. The environment is inviting and there was no pressure to get a mouth guard during the day of my visit, but rather, they kindly invited me back anytime when I'm ready to invest in it. Stupidly made the mistake of letting the dentists here ruin my teeth with veneers years ago. The eight teeth I had done fell out well over 35 times ( all 8 falling out consistently multiple times, sometimes just out of nowhere not even while eating) in the last 7 years. They also literally knocked them all out and redid them all two more times after the initial shaving down.. they shaved them down more and more each time they fell out, leaving me with extensive damage .. they ruined what little was left of my healthy original teeth... they also put the teeth in crooked literally every single time they redid them, and also blamed me for this. For not checking to make sure before they cemented them?.. as if I paid thousands to have crooked teeth slightly overlapping each other.. I needed a root canal on my front tooth from the extensive trauma from all the constant shaving they did a couple years back. Again, they blamed me. Now I need three more root canals on all my front teeth and multiple dentists have been shocked at the amount of gaps and air pockets in all of them. They do not specialize in cosmetic dentistry. I've been told by three dentists now I need them all out and recrowned asap, all commenting at the obvious inexperience they can see in the work on my teeth. Do not get cosmetic dentistry here. You will regret it immensely. I felt bad leaving them a bad review all these years but now that I'm spending thousands to fix long lasting damage i foresaw during the horrifying years of my teeth falling out, I just can't stop remembering how they gaslit me the entire time I asked them if this continuous shaving and Re cementing and practically hammering them off multiple times would kill my teeth. They always insisted I didn't know what I was talking about and somehow blamed me for every time their work fell out of my mouth. They even passed me off to each other to try to fix the mess they created in my mouth when I would lose my patience with one of them. When they made me pay for the first root canal I needed after telling me I must've hit it and killed the tooth myself somehow, they even had the audacity to try to bribe me with better pricing for a good review... after all the teeth I had falling out by that point... well over 30 instances of teeth falling out .. they were shameless enough to pull that too ... and I still never left them an honest review about the messed up things they did to me because I thought i I literally couldn't even rehash this all for a review. Til now. Man.. this felt good to get this off my chest. Don't make the mistake I made and let this inexperienced dental office ruin your mouth and create more issues for years to come. read more

Do not go here. They perform unneccesary work just to make a quick buck. I made the mistake of scheduling a cleaning with them instead of my regular Dentist downtown because I was working from home during the pandemic. The cleaning was fine, it was the fact that they identified "cavities" and recommending fillings asap. This was a little odd to me since i have only had one cavity in my entire life and I just had xrays 6 months before and everything was normal. Maybe I don't recall correctly but I don't even remember them doing xrays, which was also odd to me. I should have seen the red flags but I went ahead and let them do the filling anyways. Flash forward and now I have pain around that area and I just went back to my regular dentist and they were shocked/appauled that they performed the work when looking back at my xrays before my filling. I now either have to deal with the pain or get a fake tooth. Moral: DO NOT GO HERE - THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS AND ONLY WANT TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK AT THE EXPENSE OF THEIR PATIENTS WELL BEING read more

I had gone most of my adult life without visiting a dentist, and probably would have continued not going had I not gone thru the pain of a severe toothache. With that being said, I needed to have a lot of work done. I visited several dental offices for treatment plans, found out that work was gonna cost me close to $7k fml....The dentist I decided to proceed with had me apply for financing and I got approved thru Lending Club for their true no interest plan. The dental office wanted me to pay off that balance in 18mos but Lending Club offers up to 24mos to pay but the office didn't want to extend it that long. We had gon back and forth for a few weeks before I decided to move on and get my work done elsewhere. Found Polished online, made an appointment. Got my treatment plan and financing stuff taken care of seamlessly. Letty was awesome in handling my financing, very knowledgeable, very thorough, just an all around welcoming personality (I might have a slight crush on her, hope that's not creepy haha). Anyway, Dr. Desai and her dental assistant Jo were great as well! They were both professional and personable at the same time, just overall cool individuals. I'm pretty sure I was annoying them by being a big baby in the dental chair, but every time I expressed any discomfort they did everything in their power to make it easier for me. I pretty much got an entirely new mouth, 2 root canals, 9 fillings, 5 crowns and a deep cleaning (the price you pay for not taking care of yourself), and they got me done with minimum pain. It's one thing to go into a business as a patron, get services, pay for services, and then leave...Its another to be made to feel like you're home with genuine people that care for you. They have the latter going for them. I never really write reviews but this time I had to. Great job ladies!!! read more

My first visit to Polished was fine, but things went downhill from there. At a subsequent cleaning/checkup, it turned out I needed a crown replaced. While that seemed fairly routine, it took FOUR appointments for Dr. Grosse to fit the crown (first it was too big, then I needed an additional procedure and the crown still didn't fit, and then it had to be remade TWO MORE TIMES). There was a point when I'd been wearing the temporary crown for a month, and Dr. Grosse promised they'd re-make the crown (again) ASAP. But 11 days later I still hadn't heard from the office, so I had to contact them and ask when I could come back in for the appointment. Not to mention, at more than one of the re-fitting appointments I was left sitting in an exam room waiting 15, 20, 25 minutes before the appointment even began. I literally spent hours and several work days on appointments for a single crown. I've had root canals before that were less intensive. Dr. Grosse offered me a free whitening procedure for my troubles. I got the whitening and the results were negligible. On top of all of that, I had been pre-billed for the crown. Dr. Grosse's office acknowledged part of my services may be covered by insurance, and that they'd let me know and issue a refund if that was the case. I received the claim from my insurance, and it turns out I was owed close to $400. I immediately reached out to the office and inquired about processing the refund. I received conflicting information about how the refund would be processed (the front desk manager told me I'd be processed in a few days, and the office manager I spoke to via email told me that refunds were only processed on one day a month). Well I'd "missed Refund Day" (even though I had inquired about the refund before that month's designated refund day), which meant I had to wait over a month for my refund to be processed. Absolutely terrible patient experience all around. read more

Cleaning lasted only 5 minutes. By far the fastest, least thorough cleaning I have ever had. A run down of my visit follows: My appointment was at 4:00. I got called back right at 4:00. Took only a few minutes for the x-rays and then the hygienist went to get the dentist (Dr. Grosse). The dentist arrived at 4:05. I didnt check my watch, but assume it only took the dentist 1 minute to ask me how my teeth felt and review my x-rays, then start cleaning my teeth. So it was at 4:06 my cleaning actually started. My cleaning was done at 4:11, at which time the dentist left and the hygienist flossed my teeth then polished my teeth. I didnt check what time the hygienist finished, but I was able to rinse my mouth out, gather my belongings, check out with the receptionist, and then walk to my car about a block away and get in my car at 4:23. So I would say a safe bet is 5 minutes of cleaning and 5 minutes of flossing/polishing. A couple other common things I have had done at other dentists that they dont do here is, 1- measure the firmness of your gums around all of your teeth, and 2- inspect the underside of your tongue to check for oral cancer. Side note - one other thing I found weird, which I wouldnt say is a pro or con, but at this office the dentist cleans your teeth rather than a hygienist. read more

They also made sure that every issue that I mentioned was addressed. Dr. Desai has been a blessing for me. I cannot recommend her more highly. She is conservative, not trigger happy (does not want to do unnecessary procedures), takes a cautious approach and is extremely available. I find that she is willing to talk with me, not down to me, and to explain her thinking about dental matters and she listens to what it is that is being said. Prior to meeting her, getting me to the dentist was literally like "pulling teeth" - I dreaded every single exam, cleaning and interaction. But then I met "the Desai", and now she can't get rid of me. I Initially went to visit Dr. Desai for a wellness visit. After a thorough examination and cleaning, I was told to come back to fix three cavities in my teeth. I came in a little while later and got those cavities filled. Two of the fillings were done fine, but the third cavity filling was done incorrectly, and my tooth hurt a lot for a little more than a week. I scheduled another appointment to fix whatever was wrong. Dr. Desai sculpted my filling more, free of charge, but the tooth ache did not ease or leave. I went in a third time. She tapped on my aching tooth with a metal tool, and after I reacted in pain she told me that I would need a root canal, and that it would cost me $1,600. I asked if it was possible to drop the charge, since the mistake with the filling was done on their part, but she said that won't be possible and gave me an excuse about only having a 2D image of a 3D object and that this mistake was always a possibility, which I found to be an incredibly irresponsible response. I left the office to get a second opinion from a different dentist. I went to a different dentist about 3 weeks later. He took an x-ray of my teeth and informed me that I would not need a root canal at all. My tooth was healing itself just fine. Had I not gone to get the second opinion, I would have been out $1,600 and have a procedure done that I did not need. I will never go to this dentists' office again and would recommend other people to stay away as well. read more

It's been years since I've been in that scary white chair--and boy am I going to have to pay for it. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. They seem knowledgeable and very flexible with my schedule. I went in for a special I received in the mail but after my x - rays learned that there was a lot more work that needed to be done--most of which I expected to hear. I'm really nervous about trusting Dr. Kossak with my mouth; but am sure that she will take better care of it than I have been. Anyway, this is just the beginning of my journey to the smile I've always wanted. The reviews are true. The ambience is great and the equipment is very modern. Everything is explained well, and the staff puts no pressure on you to make a decision on the spot for treatments recommended. They'll even suggest ways to lower payments through external financial aides. Tomorrow I go in for an in-depth cleaning (upper and lower right side). I'm nervous, but hopeful. I've always been very hesitant to visit the dentist because of previous bad experiences, but time finally caught up to me & it was time for another dental visit.
