Found this restaurant on Yelp based on reviews and took my friend here the other night for her birthday dinner. Not impressed. The service was extremely slow. Our waitress didn't take our order for 15-20 minutes. The food was just okay. My friend also made a comment when we were leaving saying the food wasn't great. Russ the bartender has his own crowd and attracts an eclectic group of wonderful patrons, who come regularly on their appointed days. I'm reluctant to give this glowing review because I still want a seat at the bar when I come in. 6 of us dined at Radice last night and it was a disaster. My cod entree was served cold (even though I was served first) and was full of bones. 3 entrees came 20 minutes after the first 3 entrees. We were unable to eat together at the same time. Server never looked at the table, refilled drinks, etc.. It was a 6:00 reservation and you were not very crowded. I did not complain at the time, because I did not want to make the others at the table uncomfomfotable. One person spilled some water and it took 10 minutes to get help, which consisted of another napkin without wiping the table or the floor. It was a waste of time and money. read more

We have been going to Radice on a regular basis since it opened. The food and service never disappoint. There are always specials added to the menu. The food is prepared so well and we can tell much care has been given to it. All the servers have been there for a long time so there is a feeling of comfort when we dine there. Not a Top 50 restaurant. Not sure how this place got listed as a top 50 for the whole Delaware Valley, because it's not even close. It's good, but far from great. What was very good: The Radice salad and the arugla salad with pancetta. The calamari was ok, but the "sausage" with peppers and onions was a joke. Picture a very good or great Italian restaurant in this town serving a piece of Italian sausage that was tastless, dry, and the size of a link at IHop. I'm not kidding folks, a tiny piece of bland sausage halved and served with a few sauteed onions and peppers. For $8 they could only afford this tiny link??? 3 of the 4 entree's were good. The skate was fresh and the veal dish was a decent size and fairly tender. Osso Bucco was a special and while it had nice taste it wasn't fall off the bone tender. They did serve it with a cocktail fork so you could enjoy the marrow, which was a nice touch. The short ribs didn't fare as well. The 2 ribs were cooked ok, but the sauce on top was very heavy and gooey. Sauce tasted like it had sat too long and took away from an otherwise nice dish. We ordered two desserts and the verdict was a good for the Tiramisu, but a thumbs down for the 3 very small cannoli. The cannoli didn't have much taste and seemed a little stale. Now for the worst part..............the wines by the glass. I ordered a very nice bottle of red, but we also tried 2 whites and a red, all of which were bad. The pinot grigio was a very heavy, sweet pinot that was terrible. The Bianco was a little better, but not much. The red was bitter and for $12, not worth it. Capital Grill serves a King Pinot Noir for $10 that is a really nice wine. The only 2 sparkling wines on the menu were a prosecco and a rose prosecco brut which we passed on. I understand they are trying to do this all Italian wine selection, but they really need to do a makeover on the wine list. There are so many choices today for wines at decent prices that to get this quality was dissappointing. Restaurant is stark white with wooden chairs that could use a cushion. Noise level is very high. Parking is no problem since this in a strip mall, and they accept all plastic. Service was friendly and attentive, but if I'm giving someone a place to go in that area I would say Zach's Creekside Cafe, which has better food and its BYO. Tab for 4 sans tip was $248. Little much for just an ok dinner. read more

One star is far too generous. Three friends and I went to Radice to celebrate my birthday this month. The wait staff was friendly enough, but was generally slow to take our order, refill waters, etc. We sampled a variety of tapas, entrees and desserts. We thought the food was great...until the wee hours of the next morning when two of us fell extremely ill with food poisoning! We pinpointed the two dishes it could have been (calamari and octopus) and immediately called Radice to notify them. They said they were very concerned and would get back to us shortly after they investigated. They also stated they would reimburse us in some manner (rightfully so after spending almost $400 on a meal that, to be blunt, left my roommate and I fighting over the bathroom all day and night). We did not hear from them for over a week. Finally, we did: they told us it couldn't have been food poisoning because over 20 other dishes of octopus and calamari went out that night. Their theory? We were drunks. They analyzed how much we drank and had the AUDACITY to claim we must have just been hung over. I am APPALLED at their customer service. At 25 years old, I certainly think I can tell the difference between a hangover and having uncontrollable diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and body aches for days. Not to mention, does anyone in the restaurant know how bacteria can be spread? All it takes is ONE employee not washing their hands to infect the food and a whole restaurant full of unsuspecting party goers. Both my roommate and I even had to stay home from work on Monday (dinner was on Saturday). In the end, I'm glad they didn't offer us a gift certificate for a reimbursement - never will any one of us step foot in Radice again (although I do wish they would reimburse us for the economy sized pepto bismol and the three prescriptions we had to fill) If you are looking for good food, sure, go to Radice. If you want to have control of your bowels after the fact, consider yourself WARNED. read more

After dinner the other evening, I have to question whether the rave reviews are all legit. The food is not bad, average salad though not imaginative and average pasta, kind of pasty but edible. Overpriced. Bigger problem is the service We were seated at 930p on a Thursday. By the time salad arrived they were literally wiping up tables, bussing quantities of dirty glasses right where we were sitting, making a huge racket washing silverware and dishes --the sort of thing a better restaurant (and any real Italian restaurant, if you've been to Italy) does After the customers leave, not While you're trying to enjoy a $100 meal. Never experienced a tapas resturant italian style. Not sure if you could order any of the pasta dishes full size. We had 3 small plates: the sausage and peppers, rigatoni with ricotta, and lasagne. All three dishes were awesome! Just wish we had more of it. This place had great service and always very attentive to your needs. This was our first time at this place and it was during the "heat wave". Unfortunately, inside the radice there wasn't much of a temperature difference. Their air conditioning was not cooling the place down, and it was extremely hot while we were eating in front of the 800 degree brick oven. Our waiter and a rounding manager came over to apologive for the incovienence and stated that he hoped this didnt ruin our first time experience. I appreciated the gesture, but would have liked a free cocktail or dessert for what we went through. It took us 10min to cool off in the car. Hopefully the next time we go, we can give it a 5star rating. read more

I have to say, I have not loved the tapas places I've been to prior to Radice. I did have my doubts, but too many people recommended it, I couldn't resist. Boy, am I glad I went! I love that you have a choice between tapas and full entrees. I know not everyone can handle ordering tapas. Everything we ordered was a conversation starter. If there was one thing to rave about, it's the polenta. The lack of mealy texture, pure flavor and smoothness of this dish was to die for. The service was more than helpful and informative. The drinks were refreshing Italian cocktails and good wine. The ambience is clean, and very bright; a positive place to go. Be ready to spend a tad more than you might like to: it's definitely worth it. read more

Well, let me start off by saying I am in disagreement with the other reviewers experience. Maybe they went too early, which is really a terrible excuse because a restaurant should be as perfect on day one as they are on day 101. This food is dynamite. I was in Tuscany last summer and felt Radice's food was as fresh and delicious and prepared exactly like it was like some of my favorite Tuscany places...Don Beta, Ristorante Verdi, etc.. But now back to Radice. The pizza is fabulous. The appetizers are excellent, and I love the decor. Fresh, clean lines. Super service. I do agree that the young girls may need to step up the service a bit, but they are young and seemingly inexperienced. A little more training would be appropriate but they are never rude. The wine selection is fabulous and if something doesn't taste right after opening up a bottle of wine one selects, by all means, send it back. I've had several bottles of wine over the years that were returned because they do go bad. Don't drink wine that doesn't taste right. It's also not the fault of the restaurant owner, but it is his/her responsibility to replace it immediately. After the 3 bell review I was very excited to dine at Radice but was very disappointed. The service was not very good. Had to keep asking for clean plates and when the new courses arrived we still didn't have new plates or silverware. The only tasty dish was the beet salad, but then again it was just beets and endive (which had brown tops) in a simple dressing. Not worth paying someone else to make. The pea soup, like most other dishes, was too hot when it came out of the kitchen that it burnt all of our mouths at the table when we tried it. The soup was very bland and watery. The artichokes were out of a can and in a watery mess with cheese. Tasted horrible. The octopus was nice and tender but in a watery bland broth with undercooked, verging on raw, potatoes. The pizza with spinach and mushrooms was very watery from the vegetables. The pasta with guanciale was overcooked and didnt event have any guanciale in it. We mentioned to the server we were not happy with the food but she did noting to fix the mistakes or offer to try to make our meal a better experience. As we paid the bill we mentioned to the manger our complaints and all they took off the bill was the octopus. Our meal was very overpriced for the quality and it seems the kitchen uses many prepared products and does not pay attention to detail. Stay home and cook boxed pasta and canned sauce. You'll have a better experience around your own table. read more

We decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a little later this year because of the recent snow. We picked this restaurant because of its proximity to our home. We had been there a number of times since it opened. I ordered the Osso Bucco, the special of the night. I was very disappointed in the quality of the veal. I could only eat half, as the rest was fat and gristle. When my plate was taken away, I was asked how I liked my meal. I voiced my disappointment. The server said that she would mention it to the chef. Nothing more was said or done to improve the experience. At $33.00 for the entree, I expected much more. We had a great dinner at Radice on Saturday evening. Sampled many small plates and a couple of entrees at a table of four. Frittura was excellent, as light as fried food can be. Calamaretti was also great. The calamari was very lightly grilled and the radicchio was cooked perfectly. We all liked the peperonata as well. The pizzette Boscaiola was my favorite dish of all. Really delicious thin crust pizza. The bucatini was delicious as was the grilled branzino. Oddly, my least favorite dish was the namesake Radice salad of roasted beets. I thought it was overdressed, but others at our table enjoyed it. Service was warm and gracious, but they are still working the kinks out. For example, we waited too long for our drinks and bread. This place was great. I live kind of far but someone recommended it to me so my fiancé and I decided to check it out. From the minute we walked in the hostess made us feel so welcome with her smile and greeting and was very polite in seating us at the table we wanted. The food was delicious and the service was great. Server kind of rude when we didn't order dessert but other than that everything was fantastic! If i could give less stars I would! We were a party of 7 for dinner and our experience was horrific. The food was absolutely awful and the service was even worst than that! They waiter seemed annoyed at every question we had regarding the menu. We received a "bread basket" and remind you - for 7 guests - and the basket had 3 slices of bread in it - THAT WAS IT! - the waiter never came to ask if we needed more or if we were satisfied - nothing! The portions were smaller than any appetizer portion I have ever seen and the cost is ridiculous - I will NEVER go back again and warn anyone who does! read more

Host and waiter were very courteous, welcoming and professional. Food was okay but bread was nothing special; pasta dish (lasagna) was size of a postage stamp. Typically a pasta dish, especially in an Italian restaurant is hearty and filling. Perhaps the deception is that it was not listed until the main entrees. Again, Italian restaurant so there should be satisfying size pasta dishes. The Ruchetta salad ($11) was okay but for that price should have been twice the size. Perhaps I sound like I have unrealistic expectations for the price but other trendy restaurants in the area with similar price structure give you much more for your buck. read more

always good - i give it a 5 because it deserves higher than a 4 - a 4.5 great place to have in the neighborhood - it is consistent and it is comfortable - and the service is attentive yet not obtrusive. my kids love it - and we all feel that it was worth it after each and every visit. the food is a notch underseasoned to my taste - but i can live with it because it is very consistenly executed the same way. chef must have a very delicate palate. read more

Utterly Disappointing - Horrible Service Several Times The service is inexcusably subpar - I will never go back to this restaurant again. Before I dive into the details of my last visit, I'd like to share some background. First let me say that the food is delicious. The food is authentically Italian, not Italian-American. The dishes are smaller; the pasta dishes are the right size, not a pound of pasta for one serving. I love this traditional Italian/European approach to the cuisine. However, despite the wonderful food, I will NEVER visit this restaurant again. I've been to Radice 4 times in the last year (3 personal, 1 work) hoping that the bad service I experienced was a fluke since I loved the food so much. My last experience on November 23rd sadly reinforced all previous experiences. We had the same waiter, Jim, that we had at our last visit in June. I can't remember EVER having a waiter that was so rude. He placed and removed items very abruptly; he seemed generally uninterested in being there. Dining out is not just about the mere act of eating - it's about the whole package. I want to have good food, good wine and a good time. Eating at Radice continues to leave a sour taste in my mouth. Therefore, November 23rd was my last time there. I live near Radice, but regularly dine in Philly due to the plethora of amazing places that deliver the whole package. I was hoping I would find a great place in the suburbs when I don't want to trek into the city, but sadly Radice scores very low due to the abominable service. I'd rather take the time and money and visit my favorite Philly spots more often where both the food and the service shine like Zahav, Amada or Barbuzzo. Radiche is way more than its' categoric as "pizza". It is a first class restaurant, offering delightful, specialty Italian cuisine and service. The scallop arancini are the absolute best offering, as is the gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce. The staff is friendly and happy to explain / recommend each dish. Great wine list, too. read more

Most excellent neighborhood restaurant! We here in Blue Bell are lucky to have this establishment reside in our backyard. Wonderful, fine, creatively modern Italian cuisine! Love this place. Owner is very hands on and from what I could tell tried very hard to make your dining experience perfect. I think he's also trying to encourage younger clientele to frequent his establishment. The food doesn't come cheap but well worth the cost in my opinion. read more

I dined at Radice on Saturday night. When we arrived at 5pm it was very quiet but by the time we left (just after 7pm) it was totally full with people waiting. The restaurant is very clean and white with a small bar and the wood fired oven as the centerpiece to the open kitchen. Most dishes are baked and come out of that oven. The food is as good as I have had since being in Italy several years ago. This mostly vegetarian table started with several appetizers to share - the eggplant is as thin and wonderful as it gets (not fatty and fried like most). Even my picky toddler ate it up and we actually ordered an extra to go since she loved it so. The artichoke and potato dish was rustic, well seasoned and the perfect combination of hearty and delicious. The polenta with ricotta was so creamy I didn't even know I was eating polenta. My daughter had the celery root and The bread which was plentiful was hearty and crusty and served with fresh herbs and olive oil. For my entree I had rigatoni with zucchini and ricotta. It was a delicously baked cheesy dish with noodles cooked al dente. The gnocchi were so delicate we referred to them as pasta pillows in a very light marinara sauce. Yum! My mom had the skate special which was three delicately prepared pieces of skate alongside grilled sweet potato and asparagus. She enjoyed hers as well. We hadn't quite saved room for dessert but we knew we had to indulge. We shared the lemoncello cannoli which I promise you puts any other cannoli to shame. It is one of the best sweets I have ever had. That, along with the pear tart with custard ad a cookie crust that was to die for. This place gets it all right. Service was attentive and friendly, the food was phenomenal, the prices reasonable and it left me wanting to come back every week! For someone who eats out alot and thinks she knows her food, this is a place NOT TO BE MISSED read more
