I don't write reviews very often. Usually I have to really want to, and that doesn't happen a lot. Raffi's earned one. I had a combo plate. Honestly, combo plates are combo plates. What separates this place for me is the meat. The skewers were cooked really well, and the lula was excellent too. Good kebab isn't as easy to find as people think, and that's what keeps me coming back. I also liked the pickled vegetables that come with the plate. Nice little touch, and the grilled vegetables were done well too. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a large free parking lot, and of course they do catering - as you can see from their name )). If I ever needed catering for an event, I'd definitely consider them. A little sad inside for me. Easy 5 stars from me. The meat alone is worth it. read more

After hiking the mountains, friends and I decided on eating at Raffi's Catering and Banquet. Service was pretty bad, slow to get everything going for our party of 8. From getting the correct number of place settings, water for the table and food to arrive, service was so incredibly slow. We hunted down the waiter a couple times, as he didn't really check on our party. Dirty dishes from other patrons sat for awhile on empty tables. Despite the wait, food was good, edible. Portion sizes are huge, so come hungry. I got the combo kebab plate (see my pic) and everything taste as expected. Pita bread was a bit dry and hard. Good value for the price here. Delicious food and excellent service in a nice and pleasant ambiance. Been ordering catering from them for a few years and grabbing take out but finally did a dine in. Food is amazing as always! Brought a friend and it became her fav Mediterranean restaurant. Love love their kibbeh! Meats are seasoned well and tender! From their chicken , luleh kebab to the filet. So good! We love their combo plate! Their tabouleh too, onions are not overpowering like some places. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. So willing to work with you. Portions are so generous! So tasty. If you're coming with a bigger party and planning to share, ask them to assemble family style and all the meats will be placed together on top of their naan/thin flatbread. Soaks up all that goodness!!! Stand out meats were definitely the chicken thigh and lamb rack + ground beef stick. Super flavorful and will not be disappointed. Is it an honest mistake? Perhaps....but having 2 misleading item descriptions on the 2 items I ordered seems like too much of a coincidence. I like gyro and it's getting increasingly rare to find true gyro that is roasted on a spit and then sliced. Most restaurants now are using deli meat like preformed meat to save cost. That is fine, but don't describe your product to be something it is not. I feel tricked into ordering this. I had to throw it away after 2 bites. But wait, there's more. My combo plate did not contain the beef filet that is described in their menu. Instead, it is replaced by a top round or similarly chewy cut of beef. It is perfectly fine to use top round for kebab and I'm sure many places do. The problem is when you lie to your customers, causing them to order an item which they might not have done prior to being mislead. I wasted almost $60 dollars on this, so I felt obligated to let others know. read more

Our women's ministry at church held their annual Christmas luncheon here. I didn't know this place had such a pretty and private banquet hall. It's great for small to medium sized parties. The food is served family style. Pretty standard Mediterranean food. The eggplant dip was the stand out dish. The chicken was pretty good too. They didn't bring out garlic sauce but were really accommodating about bringing us a little when we asked. Just wish it came standard. Even though we were told we could ask for more of the dishes we liked, they didn't refill. I also had to keep asking them to refill our sodas. Raffi's Catering and Banquet in Sierra Madre - This spot serves up some solid food, and they've got a banquet hall you can rent if you've got an event. I stopped by the other day for a quick lunch and went with the combo kebab plate so I could try a little of everything. The plate came loaded with beef, chicken, and lule kebabs--almost too much food to finish! The beef was definitely the standout--grilled perfectly, tender, and not dry at all. Overall, it was a satisfying meal, and I left stuffed. I'd definitely come back, but next time I'll probably grab it to-go. read more

Everything here was solid. The tzatziki with bread was a great way to start, and the beef kabob was my favorite super flavorful and tasted a lot like carne asada. I called Raffi's in desperation to feed my family in a last minute New Year's Eve get together as many restaurants were closing early. What a wonderful and accommodating staff they have on board! I literally explained the situation, and they knew what I needed. I pulled up to the huge parking lot, and observed the cook grilling long kebabs of chicken outside. Let me tell you that I'm not a regular and I'm not known to the staff. But I have been coming a few times a year to the place and I have been blessed to be invited to an event or two which was catered by Raffi's in Sierra Madre. Today is Mother's Day and I ordered four steak plates for pick up for the family. The lady who took the order, also had the order ready at our arrival. Such a blessing to have spoken to her today. When the food arrived we were excited, but something was off from the first bite but I thought it might be the way they seasoned the food.
