Gosh where do I start? The restaurant is in a charming craftsman house. It was a nice night so we sat outside. I forgot our server's name but he was helpful with suggestions and super nice. We definitely over ordered but every single dish was so tasty. Loved the dip sampler and the kebab plate. It was my first time having meghli, a rice pudding dessert, and it was the perfect way to end dinner They also have sandwiches and bfast which I have to try another time!

Mediterranean food is something I can and want to have anytime. I've been trying many spots and this spot is definitely in the top 5. All the meats were very tender and juicy.

The food was amazing. I ordered the kebab combo plate, hummus dip sampler, and tabbouleh salad. My favorite hummus dip is the spicy lebni!!! I am def coming back here

Had dinner here on a Friday night. We ordered sodas, the baba ganoush, the kebab combo and the montee. The montee arrived first. Never had this dish before. The beef is really nicely seasoned and nice combination with the dough. Liked the garlic sauce as well. After a while the kebab combo arrived. Of the three meats I liked the chicken best. The baba ganoush was excellent, one of the best ones I had. Portion size is also generous, unfortunately we couldn't finish all of it. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for some great Mediterranean food.

Great food and service. Seems to be a family place. I think it was the owner who waited on us. Younger guy with his son as a helper! If you want to support a local business and get solid food, this is a wonderful choice. The iced tea is on point and house made chili paste is a must. The Khachapuri (cheese and egg bread) is great. The child got it and loved it. The chicken plate is a solid choice. Comes with pita. My only suggestion is they should have Lavash as an option instead of Pita. We stumbled into this place while in Pasadena for an event at the college down the street. Lucky find

A nice Mediterranean restaurant run by a very friendly and welcoming owner. The menu is extensive and has lots of authentic Mediterranean options. The kebabs are very tasty and nice portions. The sandwiches are also well made. Plenty of outdoor seating and good service.

I think they put crack in that rice... I've never had rice so tasty and rich. Then add the meat juices and you're in heaven.

I've been coming to Zephyr's for a little over a year now, and it's truly something special. My girlfriend and I stumbled upon it after a hike, and ever since, we've been making the hour-long drive regularly--yes, it's that good. Zephyr's serves the best Mediterranean food we've ever had. Every dish tastes homemade because it is--Sylva, the owner, told us she imports ingredients directly from Syria and uses family recipes passed down through generations. This is a family-run restaurant in the truest sense. They cook, serve, and treat you like family. If you're looking for an authentic, heartfelt dining experience, this is it. Please support them--they genuinely deserve all the success in the world.

Food: The classic chicken kabob plate was amazing. Chicken itself was flavorful and moist, perfectly coupling with the rice. Adding the pickled onions was the perfect sour and crunch. The grilled peppers were spiiiiccyyyy so beware, it adds an additional layer of flavor. The hummus was so smooth and creamy, pairing well with the pita. Garlic fries were freshly seasoned with a lemon garlicky zest, topped with parsley. Amazing. Service: Over the top. Everyone was so kind and their attention to detail is what brings people back. They were patient to explain their menu for first timers and had great recommendations. Ambiance: We sat outdoors and it was nice and cozy. Lots of families, couples, groups. The perfect place for a variety of occasions, or if not just for takeout at home. Definitely coming back and making it a monthly after-church staple ;)

The food is absolutely delicious, the portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable and the guy who took our order was so kind and helpful. I couldn't believe how flavorful everything was! I got the chicken Shawarma and now I won't go anywhere else for Mediterranean. I live in Glendale so I've got a lot of Mediterranean restaurants around me; I've been to a handful of them. But none of them comes close to how delicious this place was. Thank you! You are now my go to Mediterranean restaurant.

They're family owned and operated and had a bunch of yummy sounding options. I got their falafel, dolmas, cheese and meat boreg, chicken shawarma wrap, filet mignon and chicken thigh combo plate, and baklava to try. This was my first time ever trying falafels, dolmas, and boregs and wow. The falafel had a Fun crunchy outside with a crumbly yet not dry inside and full of aromatic flavors. The dolmas were really good too. Moist and herby. The boregs kinda reminded me of empanadas in both flavors and textures from the crisp fried outer pastry to savory fillings. The chicken shawarma wrap was stuffed with tender marinated chicken, fries, a bit of tomato and pepper and schmearing of creamy garlicy spread, and came with a side of refreshing cucumber yogurt salad. The best part was when that pita soaked up all the other juices of the chicken to make it even more flavorful. The meats in the combo plate had a nice char, were super savory, flavorful, well seasoned but were a bit overcooked and dry. But that's ok cuz that's where the super flavorful dips came in. There was the refreshing cucumber salad, smooth creamy nutty hummus, and pungent garlicy sauce that paired perfectly with everything. It also came with rice, an herby bright tabouleh salad, pickled turnips and crunchy fresh onions. The baklava was MASSIVE and was a bit dry and hard but had plenty of crisp pastry layers, crunchy nuts, was amazingly sweet and cinnamony. Overall this place is pretty good. Boreg $14 Falafel $8 Dolma $7 Chicken shawarma wrap $17 Combo beef filet and chicken thigh $28 Baklava $4

We heard good things about Sahara and decided to check it out yesterday; and it exceeded expectations. I had the beef kebab plate, while my mom and brother had the chicken kebab plate. We loved how they had complimentary snacks (olives, cheese, and cucumber) and also that the plate came with either soup or salad. The meat dishes were so flavorful and honestly the best we've had at any restaurant. They gave a lot of meat too; 8 pieces each dish. The baba ghanoush was also great. Last but not least, Mary, our server, was extremely pleasant and attentive. We can't wait to go back!

My first impression was how friendly everyone is, both employees and customers. I also noticed the aroma of mesquite smoke, which is a principle difference between their food and many others that use gas grills. The wonderful lady at the counter welcomed me and suggested the split kabob plate with half each beef and chicken. She also gave me the lunch and dinner menus to peruse. I grabbed a table and didn't wait long before my order was ready. Lots of rice pilaf, hummus, and tabouli. Additionally, there was a portion of garlic sauce. The portion of meat was equally impressive. I was still afflicted with recent dental work so I had to eat slowly and carefully. Their food is very crushable if not for that. They also quarter the pita bread which allows easier dipping or making mini wraps. Anyhow, I'm sure I'll be back sooner than later to try the Lula (aka koubideh), lamb, and other unique house specials. The essence of wood smoke is especially good, so that's a high mark. 4.5 overall My only criticisms are the rice could have been warmer, and the sauce more garlicky.

The three of us ordered a bottle of wine to share and were able to try a couple samples before making our decision. Great recommendations on the wine - which I appreciate. We then ordered an appetizer to share which was very tasty. And our entrees were great too. I ordered the vodka pasta dish and I ate every single bite, it was delicious! My friends also commented on how delicious their entrees were. Our server was kind and great overall. I couldn't help but notice though that a couple other parties (who were a couple parties of two, and seated after us) were served before us, and left before us. Obviously I know our food coming out later than usual had nothing to do with our server, but what I did notice was how our server never checked on us after our meals were served. Our server walked past our table several times (checking on multiple tables next to us and even re-setting tables next to us) and didn't even make eye contact to check on any non verbal cues. I finally had to call the server by name (after about 30 minutes had passed since all our meals were done) before getting a dessert menu and then again for the check. Again, overall our server was good, but I'm not sure where the disconnect happened after our meals came. I'd still come back and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone.

It is easy to find located across the street from Pasadena City college. The large awning outside the building announces the entrance to the restaurant. Once you enter you find an area with dining tables and a counter area. I was given a menu, and directed to a table to contemplate my order. The menu has a lot of great items. There were quite a number of unusual items and I had no idea what type of food or flavor to expect. When the waitress returned, I was able to ask her questions about what I should order. She had great suggestions that would give me a best example of their unique food and flavors. I decided on one Chicken Kabob and one Chicken Koobideh. Each of them came with a choice of soup or salad. I chose one of each. Barley soup with the chicken and Greek salad for the beef. It took about 20 minutes or so to get my meal to go. They had a number of occupied tables. When I got home I carefully unpacked what I had ordered. I was eager to try everything at once, but decided to start with the soup. Barley soup was filled with barley and had great flavor. I decided to add a little bit of kick by dropping in some hot sauce. The side salad was impressive. Fresh greens, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, and cucumbers. A little squeeze of lemon with all it needed. No extra dressing needed. Both the chicken and beef skewers had a great grilled aroma and were delicious. They held their shape even without actual skewers. They both tasted just as good cold the next day as they did warm when I first got them home. There was an abundance of rice included since this was a dinner order. It also had great flavor. It was fresh and had great seasoning. A bunch of condiments were included in a separate bag for all the items. Come to find out the food is now actually blah blah blah! The cold super thin pita bread was cold & flavorless and oddly comes with a cold cube of butter, what the heck am I supposed to do with that? It won't melt on a cold piece of pita bread. Then the iceberg salad comes out with two small dressing containers to use; this salad had a lot of "bones" [what the hard white parts of lettuce are called]. At least the cucumbers were crunchy, as well as the 2 pieces of tomatoes. I ordered the Koobideh Combo [Beef & Chicken]; and my friend ordered the Chicken Kabob [white meat]. The lacking of flavor in the Koobideh beef & chicken was unbelievable, I asked for a grilled serrano or jalapeno chili and the waitress said they had ran out. I was 2:00 p.m., what do you mean you ran out? We were looking for something to "save" this blandness of both our dishes; thank gawd they have containers of sumac & salt at the table. The basmati rice was bland as well. The beef koobideh, tasted like plain hamburger meat with minimal seasoning. Bottom line, I didn't finish my dish, I just left most of it. My motto is: "If it's not worth the calories, don't eat it." As for the environment: No music, etc. I really don't mean to bash the place; but you guys need to spruce up the place. My seat at the table was ripped; and the table was dirty when we sat down and asked for it to be cleaned (again?). I wish you nothing but the best in this economy!
