Love the gyro meat over rice with various toppings. The hot sauce is piquant, which it were a bit hotter.

The best part for me is that this is not as greasy as most other street meat I've had.

Their shawarma is honestly some of the best I've had in NYC--juicy, well-seasoned, and wrapped or plated in a way that feels very satisfying without being greasy or heavy. What makes the place even better is the variety on the menu. You're not limited to just wraps; there's a good mix of platters and rice-based dishes too, which makes it easy to go back and try something different each time. The biryani is a pleasant surprise--fragrant, well-spiced, and not overly oily--and the kofta with rice is especially good, really tender and flavorful with a nice balance of spices. Overall, it's a solid go-to for consistently tasty, authentic comfort food.

For my main, I ordered the fattoush salad with chicken, and the salad was huge! I was a little sketched out by the chicken at first, which was very thinly sliced and a slightly different color than I'm used to. It was their chicken shawarma and tasted fine enough, though it wasn't very flavorful and didn't seem high-quality. The salad itself, buried beneath the toppings in this picture, was fresh and yummy. Overall, I didn't feel the best after eating this meal, mainly because it was too much food, but possibly also because of the chicken and white sauce. If I came back, I'd get the fattoush salad without the chicken, but I don't plan on returning. I did really appreciate the free chai tea though! The waiter didn't offer it at first, but I saw it on my way to the bathroom and asked. It was sweet and spicy, but not overwhelmingly so.

This is officially my new go to spot and I'm going to be telling everyone about it. I got there right at our reservation time, but the uptown trains had completely stopped and my friend had to walk all the way from Canal St to the East Village. It took her about 30 minutes to get there (), but the staff were so kind about it. They never made me feel uncomfortable or pressured to order while I waited, which I really appreciated. I did end up ordering a couple things so there would be food on the table when she arrived. We got the za'atar fries and the falafel with tahini and pita. Delishhhh For our mains, my friend got the chicken kebab which looked fantastic, and I got the veggie couscous bowl. It was unbelievable. It tasted exactly like the couscous my mom and safta made when I was growing up, even down to the broth being served with it. Eating it honestly made me feel like I was six years old again. This was one of my favorite meals as a kid and I haven't had it like that in so long, so I was so happy to find a place that does it this well. The vegetables were perfect with zucchini, butternut squash, cauliflower, and chickpeas, and I loved the addition of raisins and onions. Everything was also really reasonably priced for what you get. The energy in the restaurant was great and I loved that they have hooks for coats so you're not crammed at the table with jackets and bags. Overall just such a fantastic experience. This is easily my new favorite restaurant in the city and I cannot wait to come back.

Getting a Cable without a reservation can be a long wait so, I highly recommend making a reservation. So many dishes that I love. Here are some of my favorites - The cauliflower - I order it every time I dine at 12 Chairs. The schnitzel with pita - The pita is warm, homemade and delicious. The schnitzel has great flavor and it's not greasy. The eggplant (matbucha) so yummy. The hummus, the real deal, flavorful and seasoned just right. Falafel with tahini - Great falafel and delicious tahini. Perogies - So good with the sautéed onions. Yum! I look forward to coming back again and again.

Apparently it was staff bags and coats. Maybe not the best place to put them. The shakshuka was really very mild and kind of lacking. My memory of the last time here was that it was at the top level of my comfort zone for spicy. This was not spicy at all. The fluffy pita bread was terrific. The bowl of what I guess was Greek salad was tasty. The bartender who waited on me did a good job. My stomach rumbled a lot for 8 hours after too. So all in all I'm not sure I'll return.
